  1. Any way they time it so these guys so they won't hit their innings limit right before the playoffs? I'm not saying they'll make the playoffs, but the AL central is pretty bad outside of the Indians. You never know what can happen. Eloy and Kopech will be force their way up no doubt.
  2. Title: sox marketing technique - acquiring attractive players. Is Brook Boyer using his sway to get a great looking team? It's no secret that having good looking players can help build the female fanbase. The blackhawks had some great looking guys (sharp especially), and they were adored by the female fans. Kris Bryant is a heart throb and is a hit with the ladies. The sox have been assembling quite a good looking squad. Lets take a look at what we got. Matt Davidson and Nicky Delmonico are no brainers. Movie star looks with eyes you can get lost in. Yoan Moncada is just straight built and his hair rivals Bryce Harper's. Lucas Giolito is nothing to scoff at. Then you have news of this guy potentially making the starting rotation next year 3 of these guys were acquired in the offseason in trades. Delmonico got called up this year and Davidson finally earned play time this year. All of these spects are up and Kopech will be up next year. It's no surprise these players were traded for and/or are getting rushed up. The FO knows the value having an attractive team can have. These future sox teams will earn a very good female following. Looks sell and Brooks Boyer knows that. The Sox have stockpiled good prospects who are easy on the eyes. These future teams have the chance to get a LARGE fanbase. Edit: It translated my title for some reason and i cant change it Edit by mod: Fixed the title
  3. Yurchak 2-2 with a 2b and 3 bb's... Hot damn
  4. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 11:48 PM) I suppose he's a good coach - everyone says he is. Aside from Q and Sale he hasn't had much material to work with. Still, I would be fine with some fresh blood. Of course, I would be fine with fresh blood in a lot of places, including the Front Office. Esteban Loaiza. Nuff said.
  5. "I think the only way the smile on Mendick's face as he crossed home plate could have been bigger is if he'd been able to slide and get his uniform covered in even more dirt." Sounds like he's got about a 70 for grindiness.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 28, 2017 -> 08:59 PM) Am I crazy or does Zack Collins get a ton of days off? Word. It is his first full year playing professional ball too, though. He's a big boy too. I'm sure there is some fatigue there.
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 28, 2017 -> 08:30 PM) With Hansen's height and repertoire, he reminds me of a young Roy Halladay. No, I've not been drinking. Edit: I don't expect Hansen to throw a Halladay two seamer, that thing was just wicked. Was the two seamer halladay's most dominant pitch? I thought it was a cutter, but maybe I'm just getting it confused with Loaiza that year that were duking it out for the cy young.
  8. Sox will be better suited waiting to give Harper or Machado offers. You know KW has one of them in his sights. Pass on Stanton. Wait for Machado and Harper.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) It is worth pointing out that since abandoning the mechanics changes, Collins has really kicked it up a notch. In August Collins has hit .333/.506/.667/1.173. His K numbers have also halved as compared to July and almost 1/3 of June (14k/79pa in Aug, 27k/81pa in July, and 35k/104pa in June). He has also been working a walk in about 1 out of every 4 PAs in August (20bb/79pa). His overall average is up to .229 for the full season and .304 while at AA in the 8 games he has been there. Zavala has a 985 ops against lefties. That's going to be quite the platoon
  10. QUOTE (yesterday333 @ Aug 27, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) With the way things have changed with the Sox I could see us outbidding everyone... I dont see either of those guys going to a team that is a non-contender though. Why would Harper come here if Wash offers close to the same and is still one of the best teams in baseball. I think Eloy and Kopech force the Sox hand next year and come up. If these young guns show what they can do, I can see it being an attractive destination for these guys. The Sox can afford to give a massive contract, and these guys get to join a team that Will be a yearly contender. Jon Lester joining cubs is a similar situation.
  11. I was just thinking how lucky the Sox are to have one of the all time great pitching coaches. Sometimes I take it for granted that we've got him. He is one of the best, and he seems to love the south side and the organization. He will no doubt have a job with the team until he decides he wants to hang it up. How do you rate Coop currently and in terms of the all time greats? I'm really not sure the best way to rank pitching coaches. People always say hitting coaches don't have a huge impact, but I think most can agree that pitching coaches are a bit more impactful on the game. Cheers to Coop. He's the man.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2017 -> 11:10 AM) I spent 2015 and 2016 noting that the White Sox were one of the healthiest teams in the big leagues, to the point that it was almost record-breaking, and saying that no one was paying attention to it, so when they got a year with "normal" amounts of injuries people were going to be screaming about how we were snakebit by injuries that year since we weren't used to it. Proof?
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2017 -> 08:04 PM) You are just setting yourself up to be angry. There is zero chance the Sox sign Machado or Harper. 0% chance? That's pretty doubtful. There's a chance they get Machado.
  14. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 11:35 PM) Hostetler was on the radio over the weekend and made a point amount the big increase in the scouting, analytics and minor league budget this past year. He said this priority coincided with the rebuilding philosophy It better have. The payroll will be so thin next year and in the upcoming years. Reinsdorf better pony up big bucks for some top. FAs. No excuses. I don't want to see him cheating out. Machado, Harper, or bust.
  15. It's either because they were winning too much or that lame ass nickname (or lack thereof) on his players weekend uniform.
  16. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 26, 2017 -> 10:03 AM) It's not to that extent. Tests showed multiple "cracks" for lack of a better word in White's tibia. This is why the surgery was necessary. Moncada's didn't show any of these by all reports. Man, that sounds awful. Are stress breaks like that typically due to genetics?
  17. I'm not liking the sound of this. Definitely has kevin white vibes.
  18. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 07:01 PM) Lucioballlllllllllllllllllllllll Haha lucioball is fun but gets old to me. I stick to competitive play. That way I can blame dps when we lose.
  19. I'm still on the overwatch train. God that game is so f***ing addicting and good.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) The fact that you are using batting average to make your argument tells me everything I need to know The fact that you think batting average means nothing when evaluating a prospect tells me everything I need to know. I guess that fact that he has an abysmal contact rate against guys in A ball means nothing.
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 25, 2017 -> 08:42 AM) You are likely the only one Sure bro. Collins' robust .220 batting average is why everybody has him ranked higher than Seby.
  22. http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-white-so...sox-game-injury =(
  23. SebZev with a hr, single, and walk. The dude is legit. I've got him above Collins no doubt.
  24. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 08:52 PM) Any indication as to why? They're saying he's suffering from medial tibial stress syndrome. Hope he is OK.
