Yes, I remember last season. It was embarrassing as a Sox fan. Imagine being the front office that struck out. I don't think they want to go through that ridicule again. They wouldn't talk big like this unless they were fairly confident that they would land a big dog.

Why would they put these reports out if they weren't serious about these guys? They'd look like even bigger fools. At some point, the players would start to get annoyed at the cheapness. I have no doubt they're going big this offseason.

Everybody thought Wheeler would be somewhat affordable. Seems like it is trending the other way now.

After last year's embarrassment, I don't think they would talk big unless they're damn sure of getting one of Wheeler/Rendon/Cole/Stras. This is a good sign imo.

We're in a time where you see guys with more positional versatility. You've got guys like Baez who play every infield position. Does it bother him? No, it only increases his value and future payday. Moncada is a heck of an athlete. I don't think it's a stretch to say he could handle 3rd, 2nd and RF. I get being cautious about moving him to RF with his leg injures. But allowing him to prove his worth as a multi position player helps him and the Sox. If you can land Rendon, you do it.

He'll duke it out with them with some shoves and punches, like men used to do before PC. Then it will be over and they'll be friends again.

I get it, but I don't think drafting for need is the way to go. None of our 1B/DH types are exactly world beaters. Vaughn is supposed to be a generational type hitter.

This is a losing strategy. This is a losers mentality. Signing Jose 3 years is stupid. We can get him for 1 year. No reason to go any further than that.

3rd year has to be a team option. That also solidifies him as our DH for the future. Sox really need another lefty hitter.

He has made good trades when dealing away high level players. You look at the Marlins return for their guys and it is ugly. Rick has also inked some very team friendly contracts. Aside from that, he's trash.

Look what DA said. Moncada told Ricky that he can play CF. It isn't rocket science up there. You chase the ball and throw it back. Moncada has elite speed and a good arm. He would be great out there.

Moncada would at least solid in CF, and elite in RF. Signing Rendon and Wheeler would push the Sox into contention
