  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 09:19 PM) Ozzie does seem humbled to me. I don't know if anyone would ever hire him again, but I think he would be about baseball and not about Ozzie for at least a little while now. probably just an act so he can get back into baseball. not sure anybody would hire him again. everybody saw how absolutely dreadful he was with the later sox clubs and that highly paid marlins club. he is just too damn stubborn of a manager. he refuses to acknowledge new age stats and ways of managing. i can't forgive him for giving up thome for mark freaking kotsay. thome was still productive as hell the next season. just no excuse for that.
  2. did anybody else think hawk called the sox the "sux" right as the game ended? sure sounded like it
  3. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 12:13 PM) Did you say Oz ? I love Oz he was a great player and great manager. He has so much personality. He's fun not like boring old Ventura. Ozzie should manage the Sox again and hire Frank Thomas as hitting coach. If Ozzie could have stifled himself he'd have worked forever. His resume will forever include the only Chicago WS title in modern history. Odds are neither Chicago team will win another one in the next 20-50 years so he's going to be a legend a long, long time. True. It's a shame Kenny wanted Oz gone so badly and that garbage Marlins owner was too cheap and set Oz up to fail
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 07:13 AM) Does AJP even stand a chance with a bum like Rios on the roster( The power of 2005 is much greater than the negative impact of a bum. AJ will channel his inner Oz and win multiple championships
  5. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 10:36 AM) My guess is around the 50-60 range. Many people will try to poke holes at his age and the fact that he isn't exactly a strikeout pitcher. I think Micah Johnson and Semien are on the bubble right now, but will crack the list depending on how they fare in AFL. Anderson will be in the 80+ range based on based, position, and his plus speed. He's averaging a strikeout and inning in AAA
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 08:47 AM) Honestly, I think he should be anywhere in the 30 to 60 range. The only thing that really hurts his prospect value is that he doesn't have ace potential, but I seriously doubt you could find more than a handfull of SP prospects with higher floors than him. Short of injury, he will be a solid starting pitcher at the major league level and I think the odds are very good he's at least a #3 starter long-term. IMO, he should be closer to 30 than 60, but most of these sites value ceiling much higher than they do floor. Either way, Johnson proved this year he's a legit prospect and hopefully is a key part of our rotation for years to come. I dunno, with the way he is pitching at every level, i feel he can be a number 2.
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 09:55 AM) Greg is Greg. I think people should utilize their ignore button instead of attempting to silence people. I mean, I think we fought a revolutionary war for that right... Lol, he's arguing about whether Greg is a troll or not. I think he has just become a parody of himself. He throws out his outlandish opinions, while completely ignoring logical arguments countering it, and then has a completely opposite and somewhat hypocritical view on another player or thing. I think greg is real, but he has just embraced how people react on his opinion and posts about Ozzie tbh.
  8. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 08:39 PM) So its cool to be an asshole to other posters and call them names now if they have a different opinion on a topic? lettuce be cereal, greg deserved that
  9. Greg is either a troll or has brain damage. one or the other.
  10. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 08:51 PM) I agree in as much as Hawk's dismissal of "modern" statistical player evaluations is short sited and comes off as bitter old guy. However, TWTW in some manner is what most people point to when they compare someone like LeBron James to Michael Jordan (or insert your own example of hero of yesteryear to current player). They always point to Michael's will and refusal to lose as the thing that separates him from everyone. Bill Russell had TWTW. Wilt Chamberlain did not. Really, how is it acceptable for ex-jocks and broadcasters to constantly say things like that, but Hawk's TWTW is the subject of ridicule? And i would call people who try to use "TWTW" to compare lebron and MJ morons. lebron has "TWTW"
  11. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 24, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) LOSE 15 in a row WHITE SOX! BAD JUJU! BAAAAD JUJU!!! How can anybody want the sox to lose games? I'm rooting for them no matter what. go ozzie
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 11:14 PM) I would have loved to have him back the final year. I don't think many White Sox fans on this board would have been happy about that. Perhaps Jerry would have let Ozzie play out his contract despite the fighting with Kenny. I'd have been happy with that. I'm thinking the Sox front office did handstands in joy when Ozzie started negotiating with Miami. So I don't understand people blasting Ozzie for signing with Miami when those people wanted him gone, anyway. What was he doing well in his final years as the manager? please, tell me. I really have no idea why you would want him back aside from 2005. If any other manager pulled the numerous crap he pulled, you would hate him. hence, why pretty much everybody hated him during the final years...
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 11:53 PM) Yeah, I won't sob if he doesn't come back. He's been a lousy hitter the last year and a half. But if he's truly finished, then no team will want to pick him up (except maybe the Sox for sentimental reasons, giving him one last chance to get it back). My guess is somebody decides he still has some pop in his bat and will give him a one-year deal. Maybe not. His power numbers are so far down his career may not continue a year or two more as Thome's did. You could be right. It might not have made a difference. He's portrayed as a guy who cares deeply about winning, thus I figured he might have been a reason for the team not to tank so early in the season. lol, you're a riot greg. truly.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 01:28 AM) Do you really believe he's a piece of s*** human being? Do you have evidence of that? I hope you are not basing that on supporting his children and negotiating with another team with 3 days left in a lost season. Proof of the POS claim please. i do, and i wish nothing but ill things upon him
  15. QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) You're such a joke, it's unreal. I'm convinced you're just an 05 bandwagon jumper who knows nothing about baseball. either that, or a troll
  16. I'm waiting for a popcorn worthy debate. Garpax debates usually aren't too hard. They've done a great job, and it's easy to prove.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 04:19 PM) It gets better. "blast players in the ass" holds 2 different meanings, depending on if you're talking about a 2005 white sox player or a different player
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) As far as the "quitting" issue, I don't really care that he left the team with 2-3 games to go or whatever it was. Who cares? The season was over by then anyway. So you are ok if any player or coach quits on a team during the season? Would you grill Rios or Dunn if they did that?
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) This response makes me angry. Garpax has done a great job in the draft and signing players. Are you one of the fans that wants to make a big trade at all costs?
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 04:02 PM) He was a good player and good ss. He probably should have taken more walks, but aside from that he was damn good. Based on what? Just because you love him doesn't make him a good player. He was garbage on offense.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 03:52 PM) How can you be a Sox fan and say those things about Ozzie? Pretty harsh. I mean this is big boy sports. We won it all finally cause we had a big boy manager. Who gives a f*** about all that other side s***?? I thought all his antics were funny as hell, or should I say entertaining as hell. Amen. Ozzie Guillen led the White Sox to a WS title. If it's so easy, why hasn't anybody else done it since 1855 or whenever our last title was?? Who cares about his kids? Who cares that he quit with a couple games left? Who cares that his ego is huge? I love the guy and yet fully realize his ego is big as U.S. Cellular Field. If I met him he might tell me to go f*** off. Who cares?? He gave me a title. Thank u Ozzie. So you admit he quits on the team, but you remember him so fondly? I don't even understand. So by this logic, any manager/coach who wins a title in any sport is free from criticism for their entire career, no matter what happens? Oz was a terrible manager, a quitter, and a jerk. I can't believe you don't even care that he quit on the team, yet you lament other sox players for doing much less. Why hasn't anybody else done it? because it takes a lot of luck, and great management above. Is the manager who brings the Cubs their first title the GOAT?
  22. The score was recently talking about some celebrity softball tournament going on, and they mentioned ozzie was playing in it. my first thought was "i dont want this piece of crap returning to chicago." The dude is completely unprofessional, packed it up early with the sox, and has a complete jackass of a son. everything about this guy leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This old article pretty much sums up a lot of my feelings. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/10/24/baf...aseballs-ditka/ how do you think he will be remembered? I hope that that people will dislike him for the piece of crap that he is due to the new age of media. The dude is completely ungrateful to the sox, and wasn't a major piece in the world series IMO. Will he become a chicago legend like ditka, or will people remember him for how awful he was in the later years?
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 10:24 AM) Makes me think of GarPax which makes me angry. No. whats wrong with garpax?
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 12:03 PM) How the hell is a No. 2 draft pick going to magically make us better when in many years the No. 15 pick turns out to be a better player than No. 2? are you a troll?
