  1. QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Jul 3, 2014 -> 04:53 PM) I love it when a terrible thread becomes great Agreed. At first I was in favor of plan B'ing this thread before it got too big, but now I say let it live on!
  2. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 29, 2014 -> 08:23 PM) What a gentleman this Peter is holding back his emotions to take second 13 of 14 times. Now it would be easy to think he's just being a tease, but I think Peter has a plan here. Right now we can call his SLG% softcore but just watch, pretty soon he'll be diving headfirst into 3rd and plowing his way home. cringe.
  3. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 02:55 PM) Blowasavio is hilarious. Seriously promoting HotfIRE to the group was the single funniest thing I've ever read on here...and then it went in his sig forever lol. So funny. Where is that dude lately? And to hijack a bit: buckets of Semien is the king of names in my book. I haven't been around since the beginning so I'm curious if there were any other names that rival its greatness...from the days of soxtalk infancy. He posts here all the time. He changed his name to chiliman or w/e. you can see him quoted as "Joecoolman24" in the thread posted in OP. He needed to dissociate himself with the nickname butcher reputation
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 05:43 PM) If Rodon lives up to expectations as a top-of-the-rotation starter the Sox will have tremendous flexibility going forward. I'm in the camp that you never have enough (starting) pitching, especially at the Cell, so I would look to add a frontline starter via free agency. Figuring out the the middle of the diamond is the next step. I think a Semien, Sanchez, and Johnson at 2B, SS, and CF is an intriguing alignment, but they'd have to upgrade the power at third. Why "especially at the cell"? Can't you make the same argument for hitting?
  5. anybody know the slot difference between a comp pick and the 44th? say, 34th vs 44th?
  6. What do you think the sox should do? They have 4 guys in AAA that may be MLB players. Saladino, Sanchez, Semien, and Johnson. They have a solid infield on the major league roster as it. I still stand by trading Alexei. None of these guys were huge ceiling guys, but they have performed very well in the minors. I'm not sure the trade value they would command.
  7. saladino: 2-4. he is now hitting .310. this guy isn't getting enough credit.
  8. Also, what about saladino? He is tearing it up in AAA right now for a shortstop. The white sox have so many options as far as infielders go. I think you have to trade Alexei for some pitching prospects
  9. I read somebody call Saladino a non-prospect recently. The guy is hitting very respectably for a SS. Anybody think he can be a starter in the MLB?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 07:35 PM) To me, you can't have Micah Johnson, Sanchez and Eaton in the same AL lineup. Way too little power from that trio. One of them will get traded. Hopefully Semien can provide some good power from 2b.
  11. Sanchez' rise makes this move almost a no brainer
  12. Is Sanchez competent at SS?
  13. I can't see Rodon and Boris having THAT much power commanding a large salary. You think Rodon will go back to NC State where they pitch him to death? If picked, I don't think he will choose to go back to college. The sox should be able to give slightly over the slot money and get him. Promising him the fast track to the majors, just like sale, could encourage him even more to sign for around slot.
  14. The sox have a lot of infield prospects. Micah Johnson will be ready for 2nd base at some this season hopefully. Semien should be adequate at shortstop defensively while posting above average offensive numbers IMO. Given the complete lack of pitching prospects, the sox should fetch the best pitching prospect they can for alexei.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2014 -> 08:29 PM) Rodon 7IP, 4 H, 1 R (unearned), BB, 9 K's Over 100 pitches...the manager/pitching coach are going to be questioned here again, sending him back out after a long rain delay. You can make credible/legit arguments on either side of that one. I'm sure Rodon asked to go out there. I feel this gives whichever team that drafts him an upper hand. you don't sign for slot, go back and pitch in college for another year. risk getting injured with those high pitch counts.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ May 2, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) Barnum's homer. More of that, please. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=32549483 is it me, or is his swing really long and really slow?
  17. people need to think of the prospect he would net though. A contender would control him for this year and next. A premier hitting shortstop who can flash the leather is super valuable. I think he nets a top 5 prospect from a contender in need of a SS
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2014 -> 10:58 PM) That's what I was thinking. It would be pretty scare to let L. Garcia or somebody play short and hit .095. We have a weird team of young guys and veterans both. marcus semien? dude feels most comfortable there and played there until 2013
  19. The guy is lighting the place up like dynamite this year. He isn't getting any younger, and with the Sox if depth, they can lose him and be ok in the future. He would fetch a killing in the trade market. I think this is a no brainer if the Sox fall out of contention
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 08:06 PM) I'd rather see Trayce Thompson up here at this point than Jordan Danks. I would like that too, but he needs more AB's in the minors
  21. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 21, 2014 -> 07:54 AM) he needs a nickname leave that to the guy who created "HoT FiRe"
  22. The worst mistake of Robin's young career was displeasing greg by not looking exactly like this
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 12:16 PM) I feel the thread approach of using that nickname earns a negative WARP. Wins Above Replacement Poster. i thought it was his official nickname
  24. How do you feel about Viciedo's approach at the the plate and production this year? I personally think he has finally turned it around. He seems more patient at the plate so far. It sucks Garcia went down, but this gives HoT FiRe one more chance.
