Who will have the better career when it's all said and done?
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Sep 25, 2015 -> 05:57 PM) Yes. That's why I'm not a huge fan of sabermetric statistics. They're so subjective. Stats like wins, losses, walks, strikeouts, ERA, K/BB ratio, etc are concrete and will always be the same no matter that website you're on. Sabermetric stats aren't. I guess I'm more of a traditionalist myself, but I just can't get behind supporting sabermetric stats until there is a clear way to make and evaluate them without there being a gray area. Grouping all sabermetric stats together and calling them all "subjective" just shows that you probably haven't done much research on them and you have no desire to understand them. Why do you think every single team uses these stats? Because it is a good way to evaluate talent. It's as simple as that. They wouldnt put resources towards sabermetrics if it was a sham. I never understood the anti saber crowd.

Adam Eaton
If the Sox believe Trayce is the better defensive CFer next season, he should play in CF. Eaton has the bat to play in the corner. Defense is greatly improved this way. Trayce has the tools to be better in CF. I am happy with Eaton in CF, but I'd be happier with the above scenario. It can really shore up the defense IMO. Melky-Eaton-Avi is plain awful.

OBAMA/TRUMPCARE MEGATHREAD
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 11:11 PM) To any Soxtalker who has time to answer this question ... Let's say I quit my job tomorrow and decided to be a consultant and work for myself and needed coverage. How do I get Obamacare or would Blue Cross individual coverage be cheaper? Anyhow, what is the protocol to get Obamacare? How would I do it? What are the procedures, the step by step instructions to take? Thank u! Have you ever bothered looking something up yourself? Or do you just ask your wife or kids to get answers for you?

Levine: Ozzie deserves to manage again
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 07:44 AM) One thing people forget with Ozzie, the White Sox don't want to deal with Oney Guillen tweets anymore. That is part of hiring Ozzie. You get that crap. It gets picked up by websites and suddenly, if everything isn't perfect, your manager's son is constantly ripping your team, and it is everywhere, for everyone to see. This. Ozzie will never get a managerial job again because of it. What kind of idiot lets his kids publicly slander their company and bosses CONSTANTLY? The man is a piece of garbage.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 14, 2015 -> 12:11 PM) So did Tyler Flowers. Once you get to higher levels, it's a new game. Trace has been great, but his defense has been shaky. Several curious routes, a huge error, and also seems to be thinking about that error at present. Avi is a bad defender without a doubt, but also leads the league in assists, and at least 2 home run saving catches. If you want to say Avi is horrible without a chance to be any good, saying Thompson is a guy who is going to be good is a long reach. Fangraphs isn't the way to identify prospects. ^DA's all time favorite game. I think it is clear why some people like Trayce so much. He has the ability to be plus in the OF defensively. Scouting reports rave about his defense. He can turn into a plus CF defensively IMO. Avi is just awful on defense. Avi needs to hit like a stud to be more valuable than Trayce.

My/Your Off Season Plan
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 13, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) Fixing the defense (as well as finding a power bat) would be my first priority, but I'd much rather have Trayce in CF (or RF) depending on what you think of Eaton's D. I'd have Eaton in LF and Trayce's athleticism in CF and get a defensive RF who isn't terrible with the bat. If not.. stick Trayce I'm RF, leave Eaton in CF and get someone to replace Melky. This is why I was so adamant on why they're not playing Trayce everyday the rest of this year now to see what we've got. I'm all for moving Trayce to CF and Eaton to LF. I think their bats can both play at those positions. I also think they can both be above average at both positions. This greatly improves the outfield defense. Gotta try to do something with Melky or Avi. The Sox can't trot this same awful outfield defense out there next year. It's flat out embarrassing.

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 13, 2015 -> 07:51 PM) I'm falling for Dr. Ben. He needs to be our next president, folks. He is not a politician and simply cares about what's best for our country. At some point we have to let the lifetime politicians know (Hillary, Bush, et. all) that we don't care for do-nothing rhetoric. We want the successful surgeon. Or should want the successful surgeon. He isn't a politician? I beg to differ. Here is why. 1. He is a world renouned brain surgeon. He is a master about everything regarding the brain. If that's the case, why does he hold completely archaic views on marijuana? He thinks marijuana has a detrimental effect on the brain if you use it in your mid 20's or earlier. He thinks it decreases your IQ. Those claims have been proven to be false for a long time now. That is stuff you'd see in 1960's American anti-weed propaganda. Marijuana has been proven to be beneficial to the brain in many situations. Being an expert on the brain, he should know of the numerous benefits marijuana can have on the brain. There is no way he actually believes that. He is lying for the lobbyists and for the votes on that issues. 2. He is a creationist. There is absolutely no excuse for being a creationist if you are as educated as him. Plain and simple. You don't get my vote if you a creationist. Maybe he actually believes this. His history shows he always had this view, so maybe he isn't putting on a facade for the votes. I still struggle to believe that any of these politicians are actually creationists.

Twins at White Sox, 9/12/15
That's enough now trayce. Two games on the bench for you.

Twins at White Sox, 9/12/15
Trayce's approach really impresses me... He has a better eye than his minor league stats suggest.

Hawk really needs to stop saying Kansas City Special.

Why do some people continue to discredit statistics? It is simple a compilation of the results players have had. That's it. You can't remember every play, but you can compile the outcome of every play to get a better understanding of the players ability. Get with the times gramps. We aren't basing our opinions off of what we saw through our monocles on the black and white TV anymore. There's a reason all teams use advanced analyticals now a days

9/8/15- Cleveland @ Sox 7:10 PM CT
Trayce gets that one.

My/Your Off Season Plan
Move Eaton to RF, put Trayce in CF. That move improves our defense GREATLY. Next season is a development season, really. I don't see the Sox being competitive until 2017. They have SO much pitching depth in the minors now. These guys will be emerging in 2016-17. The White Sox should have a dominate staff and bullpen for years to come.

A 3 run homer? That'll be two games on the bench for you Brantly.

Eddy Alvarez
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 7, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) If Eddy Alvarez, after 33 games at A+, is starting in the majors in 2017, either something has gone horribly wrong or a minor miracle has happened. I think he's an overlooked prospect because of his age by some, but that's an incredible jump to make. Frankly, if Eddy Alvarez makes it to the majors, it'll be a success. The guy has more walks than strikeouts in his minor league career. Given how little experience he has in baseball, that is pretty amazing. I don't see his bat falling off the face of the earth as he rises up through the minors.

Eddy Alvarez
I'm convinced this guy has major league talent. I think him an Tim Anderson will be the starting infielders in 2017. I am really excited about him and our system in general. Much improvement

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 11:35 PM) Very sad take. This woman supports Hillary just because she is a woman. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/stacey-newma...kusaolp00000592 I don't think I've ever read anything as sad/sick as that story. What an awful endorsement, based on sex alone. You've never read anything as sad/sick as that story? Yeah, I'm sure. You really need to drop your little ignorance and playing dumb act Greg. You know millions of people vote for a candidate by how they look, their race, their gender, or their religion all the time.

Eddy Alvarez
Through 33 games at A+ he's hitting .319, .412 OBP, .877 OPS, 19 walks to 17 strikeouts. He was 42 of 50 in SBs at A, but only 11 for 18 at A+. This dude has game. Is his physical advantage that great over these kids he's playing against at A+? He is more physically mature, but he has less experience in baseball than all the guys he is playing against/

9.3 Games
QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 10:31 PM) A ton of the guys drafted this year have been solid. After being pretty boring this season, Kanny should be really interesting next season with a lineup potentially of Zangari, Zavala, Glines, Adolfo, Cruz, etc. I think the highest they play Adolfo will be Great Falls next year, unless he completely mashes the ball there and needs a call up to A.

The pattern
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) Regarding your post ... I know baseball can't be compared to the real world, but there are gads of White Sox employees behind the scenes involved trying to make a living here ... and failing. Can you believe the White Sox higher ups were dumb enough to believe this team would be able to vie for a one-game wildcard thus made NO MOVES at the break? In the real world, this is unacceptable and so many people are fired. For instance ... the projection was totally incorrect. Whether it was Hahn, Kenny, Robin ... unless it was Jerry (which it could have been), heads should roll. The Sox had a lot of bodies that could have been dealt for some valuable pieces. Just the fact they probably could have gotten rid of last winter's acquisitions and failed to pull the trigger on trades is unacceptable. We should right now be like Detroit, starting a rebuild without Melky, LaRoche, Robertson, Duke. Those 4 guys could have been dealt and think of the $$$ it woulda freed to try for better players. As far as your main point in your post, just as the Ozzie era pretty much had to end, this Robin era has to end. You all get mad at me for repeating myself, but nobody seems to address my comment. How in the hell can we expect to avoid a season-opening sweep against whatever Central Division team we open with next year and how in the hell can we expect to avoid the same pattern of s***tiness (bad performance on road; bad performance in all divisional games, only a so-so performance at home) under Robin and his staff?? The White Sox utter failure the last 2 seasons means the whole coaching staff and most of the front office needs to go. Now will it magically improve the White Sox? Probably not, but we know one thing: The pattern has been set in stone and this regime won't be able to change the discourse. Who is with me: FIRE EVERYBODY (staff and most of the everyday players). Lol, fire the players. I think you've been listening to too much trump
