  1. The sox have a lot of infield prospects. Micah Johnson will be ready for 2nd base at some this season hopefully. Semien should be adequate at shortstop defensively while posting above average offensive numbers IMO. Given the complete lack of pitching prospects, the sox should fetch the best pitching prospect they can for alexei.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2014 -> 08:29 PM) Rodon 7IP, 4 H, 1 R (unearned), BB, 9 K's Over 100 pitches...the manager/pitching coach are going to be questioned here again, sending him back out after a long rain delay. You can make credible/legit arguments on either side of that one. I'm sure Rodon asked to go out there. I feel this gives whichever team that drafts him an upper hand. you don't sign for slot, go back and pitch in college for another year. risk getting injured with those high pitch counts.
  3. bring up trayce

QUOTE (flavum @ May 2, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) Barnum's homer. More of that, please. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=32549483 is it me, or is his swing really long and really slow?
  5. people need to think of the prospect he would net though. A contender would control him for this year and next. A premier hitting shortstop who can flash the leather is super valuable. I think he nets a top 5 prospect from a contender in need of a SS
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2014 -> 10:58 PM) That's what I was thinking. It would be pretty scare to let L. Garcia or somebody play short and hit .095. We have a weird team of young guys and veterans both. marcus semien? dude feels most comfortable there and played there until 2013
  7. The guy is lighting the place up like dynamite this year. He isn't getting any younger, and with the Sox if depth, they can lose him and be ok in the future. He would fetch a killing in the trade market. I think this is a no brainer if the Sox fall out of contention
  8. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 23, 2014 -> 08:06 PM) I'd rather see Trayce Thompson up here at this point than Jordan Danks. I would like that too, but he needs more AB's in the minors
  9. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 21, 2014 -> 07:54 AM) he needs a nickname leave that to the guy who created "HoT FiRe"
  10. The worst mistake of Robin's young career was displeasing greg by not looking exactly like this
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 12:16 PM) I feel the thread approach of using that nickname earns a negative WARP. Wins Above Replacement Poster. i thought it was his official nickname
  12. How do you feel about Viciedo's approach at the the plate and production this year? I personally think he has finally turned it around. He seems more patient at the plate so far. It sucks Garcia went down, but this gives HoT FiRe one more chance.
  13. Rodon seems to be pretty developed. I wonder if him and Boras will agree to sign for slot money if the sox promise a fast route to the majors ala chris sale.
  14. games really need to be shortened. this s*** is just too long.
  15. does johnson have a changeup?
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 1, 2014 -> 10:29 PM) I didn't fall for it, but that's about the only type of job he'll be getting in baseball in the future. We've mentioned this time and again but no way a GM can risk putting "The Mouth" in a position of authority again. It's too bad Oz was too dumb to realize he might not want to run his mouth (in Miami) until he got that team in first place to stay. The Castro thing and the gay thing has ended his career in baseball (except for broadcasting, scouting). You forgot the fact that he is a horrible manager
  17. APRIL FOOLS! THE FOOL ISN'T RETURNING!
  18. get garbage beckham out of here! i'd rather give semien a shot than keep playing beckham.
  19. i can't believe how good he was with the twins... even in limited play time
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 08:05 AM) The author called Elmore a "dirtbag". Hahn called Eatona "dirtbag". Coincidence ? I think not. Very grindy stuff. lmao. i love how dirtbag is a compliment in grindish. i first thought you meant they both insulted each other.
  21. AJ AND hawk? somewhere in the world, greg creamed his pants
  22. I remember people flipping when somebody posted "f*** you connor" after he got a hit to help teh sox win. Almost EVERYBODY on the most populated bulls board is rooting tanking and the other team, lol.
  23. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) It was $13.3M last year, $14.1M this year, and in case you haven't noticed, more money gets spent every year. It's highly likely the QO price in 2 years will be around $16M. so in 4 years it will be 18m? 20m in 6 years? no, dont think so. these guys wont be making that kind of cash.
  24. Jack*** ozzie botched that one big time. That's when people realized he is severely lacking in the strategic side of baseball. That's also when many people realized he was a lousy manager.
  25. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) While I do want Wieters, we are only getting draft pick compensation if we offer him a QO, which a couple years from now may be around $16M+. So he'd really need to return to his 2011 form when he led all catchers in baseball with a 4.6 WAR. Not saying he can't, just saying it's no guarantee that we get a draft pick out of him if/when he leaves. 16m+? yeah right. It will probably be around 13m, and only for 1 year. I expect Wieters to command more than that.
