  1. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 01:01 PM) I disagree. I'm of the belief that the Sox will not give up a pick to sign a free agent and that the Gordon interest was attempting to drive up his price. This very well could be true as well. Interesting news nonetheless.
  2. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) I thought there was some tension between them? I thought that tension was with Puig?
  3. James Fox ‏@JamesFox917 Seems to me that Cespedes talk is posturing for the #WhiteSox to land Gordon. We shall see. Brian Bilek ‏@ChiSoxraBBit 1m1 minute ago Brian Bilek Retweeted James Fox This. The timing of nat'l leaks is important. Sox are interested in Cespedes but Gordon is priority #1 this week.
  4. Max Wildstein ‏@MaxWildstein Source: #WhiteSox were having "deep" discussions with Yoenis Cespedes before Christmas. Don't know where talks are now. This kid/guy is a scout.com MLB writer with 9.5K followers, so it could be newsworthy.
  5. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) Good point. Is Melky going to be the #2 hitter if we don't bring in Gordon (as opposed to Cespedes)? I'd rather have Melky down the lineup a bit into a run producing slot and have Gordon and his higher OBP hitting in front of Abreu. Melky out of the 2 hole extends the lineup by pushing Frazier, Melky and Laroche further down the order. Cespedes is a much sexier bat, but Gordon probably makes them a better team top to bottom. Melky would bat 2 if we get Cespedes. He would bat 5th if we get Gordon. IMO
  6. To me, it doesn't matter. Cespedes still plays decent enough defense that his bat could be worth more runs than Gordon's defense and his bat in the end. Factor in the draft pick, Cespedes might be the better option.
  7. The Cespedes news could also be a ploy by the Sox to hurry up the process with Gordon
  8. With the way things are heating up, I expect Gordon or Cespedes in a Sox uniform by the end of the week.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) Mlbtr hasn't posted anything new regarding any players or teams in over 17 hours. Very slow Tuesday around the MLB. It's 1145 am. Plenty of time.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 09:01 AM) https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/681851846705737728 Not new, but nice to get confirmation. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 09:04 AM) @ken_rosenthal Sources: #WhiteSox remain active in outfield market. Gordon, Cespedes among possibilities. Holiday was calm, now here comes the storm.
  11. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) I think the market will develop drastically over the next week or two. I still have a good feeling the Sox get one of the three, too. We as fans ride the highs of getting a good player & expect more right after. A week passes by & that high turns into doubt. Perfectly normal but patience is key with the MLB FA market. I agree with everything. I think we'll either get Gordon or Upton however.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 10:08 PM) Maybe my least favorite Raw ever. Just awful, and some of the worst acting I have ever seen Yeah it was terrible. Stephanie and Vince in the beginning with some horrific acting. Steph in general is a terrible actor.
  13. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) This is a great point. IIRC, Hahn had been talking to the Reds about the Sox interest in Frazier sometime around seasons end or just after. Look how long that took. Hahn was very determined to get Frazier. Literally took him a month and a half to get him, but he found a way.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 08:41 AM) Great job as always. While you already addressed it, I really think Antonio Rodriguez will be starting 2016 in Kannapolis. If so, that should one of the most exciting groups of position players Kannapolis has seen in years and the first major sign our Latin American program is finally back up to speed (between him and Cruz). I agree with you as well about Rodriguez. I also think Velasquez could jump to Kanny as well.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 10:47 AM) If it's between signing Parra to a 3 year deal in the 39 million range or upgrading other positions and giving Avi one more chance, I would rather see option 2. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) I never want to see Avi in RF again I agree with Fathom. No sense in spending 30-40 million on Parra. If were upgrading the OF, it's gonna be a significant upgrade like one of the big 3 OFs.
  16. Jones-Quartey had a really good game today. Anderson, Timu, Goldman, Langford, Carey and Amos had good games as well. Encouraging. Cutty was good again with no receivers.
  17. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 27, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) Personally sifting through tweets, articles, insider info., etc. I believe it's either Upton or Gordon or none. I don't think they want to pay Cespy that much and the years are a hinderence. Plus I think we have enough Cespedes type hitter already on the team. I've said it many times I'll be over the moon with any but I think Upton and Gordon follow more of what we are looking for than Cespy. You're completely right, because they get on base and bring power.
  18. Leroy Reynolds decided not to block a guy on ST that lead to that block.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 25, 2015 -> 02:47 PM) I may be in the minority here but while Smith is athletic as hell, I don't believe he's great right now. He's a project. Myles Jack, while smaller, is the much better player *right now* and he would immediately become one of the best cover LB's in the NFL as soon as he's drafted; he's that good. Sign Trevathan and no TE down the field or WR crossing route is an option for opposing QB's. I do like Hargreaves, but he's an option for me at 9-12. If you're picking 6th, you better get someone who's not only good but fills a need. Porter has played well and Fuller has been a top CB in football since week 1. I think the best bet is to extend Porter and sign a guy like Casey Heyward to play NB. Chicago's holes on D right now are FS, DE and ILB. Jack, DeForest Buckner, and Ramsey have to be the pick if they're there (unless Tunsil falls). I think DE and ILB could very well be addressed during free agency. Former Broncos Derek Wolfe, Malik Jackson, Danny Trevathan could possibly all come over and play with Fox. I have a feeling 2 of the 3 will. As for TE, I think they'll trade or cut Bennett (similar to Marshall last year), and then go after Dwayne Allen. When healthy, a Jeffery, White, Royal, Wilson, Allen, Miller receiving corp is really really good.
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 26, 2015 -> 08:31 AM) in this post, i just remembered several other teams. i will mention 1 team in particular. Pitt. they are committed and they will need to do something. going into the off season, their press or the press of the sporting community broke them down, before the northside answered with their moves. Pitt needed a another sp, 1b they will also move both walker and marte b/c their prospects are ready to step in. looking back, they did the 1b, 2b trade now, i would pitt move marte and take a chance on 2 rookies in the lineup??? i still see them needing a better sp and if they do move marte, i can see it being done for a young cost control #2 or #3 type of sp. or would they just look into the fa market??? i am seeing teams as needing to make moves, just be keep up and to keep being competitive within their division. you know, i really do like this off season. a lot to think about. Pirates have Cole, Liriano, Niese, Vogelsong, and Locke in the rotation with Taillon, Kingham, and Glanslow on the cusp of the majors. They have a good prospect in Hanson that will take over for Walker at 2B. There is 0 chance they trade Marte unless it is a massive haul. He is probably the best LFer in the game.
  21. Thanks for all the info Bucket, great as usual. Glad Gordon will have an offer on Monday. Wonder who they would target if they miss on any of these guys.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 05:48 PM) This isn't correct. San Diego will have 2 picks (Upton, Kennedy) in front of White Sox. Sox currently sit at #29 with Murphy signing. Iwakuma going back to Seattle didn't help. Those players could always resign with their respective teams. Can't always assume (Iwakuma)
  23. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 05:28 PM) Think I posted this info in the wrong thread. I should have posted it here. http://m.mlb.com/draft/2016/order Sox looking at the 10th and 28th picks in June's draft as of right now. 27 now with the signing of Daniel Murphy.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 02:05 PM) I looked at the teams ahead of the Bears in terms of draft order & their last 2 games. If the Bears lose out and the teams ahead of them finish as I project, the Bears *could* be picking 6th and with Bosa/Lynch/Tunsil/Goff almost assuredly going top 4, you have to think there's a good chance Ramsey is there at 6. Jaylon Smith as well. Vernon Hargraves III.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) So P.K. Subban seems like a pretty good dude. (Warning: this video may cause tears) https://twitter.com/PKSubban1/status/679990515954102272 I love P.K Subban
