  1. Well we have a 1 in 17 chance of winning the bid with 13 teams saying they are out.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 20, 2014 -> 01:51 PM) 5M is such a relatively small commitment, I hope it was the Sox I hope it is too because like another poster mentioned, he would be the perfect platoon for Gillaspie/Sanchez/LaRoche. Is there anything out there how his game would translate to the MLB? Specifically offensively?
  3. So how many teams are officially out so far?
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 05:33 PM) Surprised the Cubs had to give a 2 year deal to Lester's buddy David Ross, but they did for a 2 year/5 million dollar contract. Wellington Castillo is a pretty nice trade chip they have now. What's funny is that he's going to the get Opening Day start ahead of Montero because of Lester. At least, I think he does.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 08:59 AM) ALL THE OUTFIELDERS!!!! Kemp, Myers, Upton, Smith, Venable, Liriano, Quentin. Am I missing anybody? Olney did say they might put Myers at 1B.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 08:52 AM) I wonder if Atlanta would take John Danks in a trade for Chris Johnson. We need John Danks more than we need Chris Johnson.
  7. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 07:52 AM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 7m7 minutes ago Sources: Braves finishing up a Justin Upton trade. Could be the Padres....
  8. Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 3m3 minutes ago Source confirms #Athletics have traded Derek Norris to the #Padres. First reported by @FeinsandNYDN. Oakland is trading everybody. Wow.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 01:44 PM) Can they send Nieto to minors now? I think Nieto was going to the minors regardless with the addition of Brantly in my opinion.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) Meh. Organizational move. Has to be a minor league deal with an opt out clause, agreed?
  11. Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 25s25 seconds ago Source: #WhiteSox in agreement with George Kottaras. @JonHeymanCBS said deal was close. Why? Minor league deal? Flowers, Brantly, Nieto, Smith, Kottaras. Trade on the horizon? Or just catching depth?
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) I don't think the Sox bench is set by any stretch of the imagination yet. I agree. I could see a Brantly, Davidson, Bonifacio, Shuck/Danks/Campana bench be pretty good.
  13. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 01:06 PM) i do want MD getting atbats tho, at least most the year. incidentally...who's backup first base? laroche and abreu isnt enough depending on situation. I definitely think he'll get his at bats in ST, were just in wait and see mode if he can take advantage of that. I hope he does so he gives the Sox a possible long term solution at 3B or up his value along with Conor in trade at the least.
  14. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 01:02 PM) Not saying i have an answer for Davidson's year last year, but aberrations do happen. It is not worthless to mention the following: the major league at-bats he HAS had..actually went well. Davidson would be in the mix if Conor went down. And as someone else said maybe Saladino I agree with this. If Davidson has a good ST, he can very well be the platoon at DH/3B that we could possibly be looking for. Not saying its going to happen, but it is a possibility.
  15. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 12:17 PM) Well obviously an assistant baseball coach carries no where near the prestige of a radio intern. Everybody knows that. Who are you trying to fool? Are you insulting me?
  16. He said trust me they need to fill the seats, and I told him that Hahn said that increase in ticket sales got Melky Cabrera and then he went on to insult me that I'm an assistant baseball coach while I'm still in college lol. What a bum.
  17. And were not done yet either I think. That's the even more exciting part.
  18. You can't bring back Cutler now, have to trade him. Do the Bears trade up for Mariota next draft? The draft is in Chicago....
  19. What are your guys/gals thoughts on him? He's had a pretty bad 2 years but he is tremendous on defense. He just recently turned 29 so he's still fairly young. My thought is if you can get him on a 1 or 2 year deal and hit in lower in the order, I think he can do really good for this team, especially on the defensive side. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cabreas01.shtml There is his career stats. Also, Chris Rose on IT predicts that he goes to the Sox for 1 year/8 million. I know he isn't an insider, just a tidbit throwing at you guys.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 01:54 PM) Reds could be a fit, as they still don't have a left fielder (and Hamilton's speed can help with Viciedo's lack of range in LF). Viciedo for Axelrod
  21. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) I really dont know If that would be enough. I agree. But I think something around Viciedo and Nieto could get them talking.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 11:31 AM) David Kaplan ‏@thekapman 3m3 minutes ago Gary Bettman just told us on @kapandhaugh that his rough guess is that the salary cap for 2015-16 will be 73 million dollars. Up 4 million. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 11:46 AM) Bickell and Sharp are probably playing their last seasons in Chicago(although not even sure you can move Bickell's contract at this point) If it raises 4 million, I think only Bickell goes. Remember, Rozival and Oduya are most likely gone because then TVR will probably be bumped into a top 4 pairing with Hammer. And the bottom 2 will consist of Dahlback/Rundblad/Erixson/Johns/Vet FA. Although Saad, will need a bridge deal, and Kruger will probably get traded this off season because of Danult's climb through the system.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 11:28 AM) Tyler Kepner ‏@TylerKepner 3h3 hours ago On Baseball: In Chicago, it's the White Sox Who Seem Closer to the 2015 World Series http://nyti.ms/1syfY0i That's what I think too. It mystifies me that Cubs are at 12/1 odds lolol. Tied with Cardinals. Not a chance. They still could finish 4th in that division. I'd take the Cardinals, Brewers, and Pirates over them. They all have better line ups and rotations than the Cubs. All though I think the Cubs rotation is better than the Pirates.
