  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 05:00 PM) Bar is set pretty low for him, I see. Well when his main job is to come off the bench, distribute to others, and run the offense, it was a good game for him. Rice, Nunn, Egwu, and Starks were awful today.
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 04:53 PM) I'm covering Pontiac so not able to watch. If Michigan outage lost with Tate contributing, I'd have been irked. Tate played 25 minutes, 7 points on 3/3 from the field, 2 assists, 1 rebound, 0 turnovers. He had an excellent game.
  3. Well Brandon Maurer finally got traded, but not to the Sox. He's going to SD for OF Seth Smith.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) That sounds like every Michigan game ever Sounds like what happens against Illinois every game.
  5. QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 03:28 PM) I've only been watching since the start of the second half, but I swear 90% of the shots I've seen Michigan take have been 3s I feel. They are 5-18 from 3. Hitting their last 2.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 02:14 PM) That is not a charge, bad omen B1G Ten refs are awful. Just like Egwu's "illegal" screen offensive foul call. Awful.
  7. Michigan making everything they throw up so far. Only have 1 miss early.
  8. Huge Illinois fan, and even though Michigan has struggled this year, I do not have great confidence in this game. Michigan 68 Illinois 60
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 11:26 AM) He's an incredibly versatile player who is a very good hitter and is incredibly cheap. It'll be interesting to see what it takes to get him, but I think there are a few teams, notably the Cubs, who could cash in a couple prospects to acquire him. Suggesting something crazy here, but if the Cubs gave up Javier Baez and Pierce Johnson right now, how on earth could the Sox logically top that? They could give up Anderson and Montas for sure, but that's not logical (and I'm not sure it would top the Cubs offer anyway). The Sox are going for it, but they are doing so with an eye towards the future. Trading for Ben Zobrist at this point is not making a move with an eye towards the future, it's making a move with an eye towards now. That is not in their agenda. See, I don't see a fit for the Cubs. They already have a glut of MI prospects and with one year left on his deal and at 33 years old, I think he would be the wrong type of player for the Cubs because I think they are still at least year or 2 from competing in a playoff spot. Whereas the Sox could definitely use him this year, and if he does produce well, you can resign him to a 2 year deal similar to the LaRoche deal. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 11:43 AM) Here's what Jeff Sullivan suggested Zobrist's value would be: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/jeff-sulliv...hs-chat-123014/ I read that and see "Tim Anderson or two of Montas/Danish/Micah Johnson." I say no to that. With that said above, I would not pay that price for Zobrist for the reasons you have stated previously.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 11:14 AM) So that's 2 disappointing prospects and a guy whose upside is that of an average player for a sabermetric god and a fallen prospect who was still very recently considered to be one of the best pitching prospects in the game. They'd hang up. You are giving up Montas/Danish plus another couple of good prospects at the very minimum for Zobrist alone. If you want Montgomery it's probably going to be Montas and Danish plus prospects for a total rental player. Beyond that, they could easily be asking for Tim Anderson in return too. This is just not a move that fits the Sox agenda right now. I was definitely wrong in the value in Zobrist, but he is 33 years old with only 1 more year left on his contract. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 11:14 AM) Ben Zobrist would be a nice fit for White Sox, who currently see 2B as competition between Micah Johnson, Carlos Sanchez & Leury Garcia. https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/549972921670963200 Key for White Sox w/Zobrist lies in Rays' interest in Dayan Viciedo and CWS willingness to deal significant prospects. Serious talk likely. https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/549975570692702208 Rogers better be right on this one, Zobrist makes a lot of sense for the White Sox right now.
  11. Could be available now that the Rays have signed SS Asdrubal Cabrera. Zobrist is in the last year of his contract at 33 years old. I think he would be a great platoon at 3B with Gillaspie, playing 2B giving Sanchez/Johnson time to develop and can platoon with LaRoche at DH. What do you guys think? I would offer Beck, Thompson, and Sanchez for Zobrist and Montgomery.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 10:07 PM) Seth Rollins is absolutely anazing. This crowd is horrendous. Rollins is a bum, Bryan is great and going to win the Royal Rumble.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 01:52 PM) Pretty sure Gruden is locked down until 2021 with ESPN. When he announced it during the Bears MNF game a few weeks ago, Tirico made it a point to say he will not be coaching until the contract is up I don't get all the hype with Gruden either. He wanted to pick Johnny Football #1 overall last year lol.
  14. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 08:21 AM) @ProFootballTalk League source says word is tricking out of Chicago that G.M. Phil Emery has gotten the axe. Good. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 08:22 AM) It was probably time for him to get out of NY, but I think Ryan is a top flight coach. The rosters he was given were just pretty much close to the worst in the league every year he was there. Even his first two years those rosters weren't great. It's amazing he won as much as he did. I'd love if Ryan was the next Bears HC
  15. Mauricio Rubio Jr. ‏@MRubio52 2h2 hours ago The White Sox are doing a tremendous job of retooling their minor leagues, big fan of their 2014 draft. System is recovering well.
  16. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 28, 2014 -> 01:11 PM) Cutler. Blows. Bad throws and keep missing wide open targets. Doesn't help that there has been only 1 play that a route was ran farther than 10 yards...
  17. http://www.milb.com/content/page.jsp?ymd=2...&vkey=stats According to this, Sox also have signed 24 year old RHP Brett Marshall to minor league deal. Was with the Reds last.
  18. I really hope we see the entire coaching staff and Emery tonight/tomorrow morning.
  19. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 28, 2014 -> 06:02 AM) Saying that I am wrong is a stupid thing to say, I just diagree with you. If you're confident in your system and your player development process then you shoul feel confident in your team's ability to develop those picks into solid players. The more draft picks you have, the greater influx of talent that enters the system, the more players you develop into major league caliber players and more you don't have to go out and sign players to big contacts and the flexibility you have as an organization. Look at the Cardinals. But the Sox did have flexibility as an organization because they signed 3 stars well below market value in Sale, Quintana and Abreu so they can spend some money. The only big contract really is Robertson, Cabrera is market value for a guy of his caliber who can put up 2-4 WAR each year during his contract with the Sox. In terms of other players on the Sox, the only guy I can think of who is next for an extension is Adam Eaton with another good season, and I'm sure that will be under market value as well. So give me proven players in Robertson and Cabrera that will help this team compete and not waste our stars prime years instead of a 2nd-3rd round pick that might be good.
  20. QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 27, 2014 -> 09:55 PM) This team is just starting to figure itself out. The east should be worried. If they could ever stay healthy for a extended period time, I think they are the best team in the east by far.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 27, 2014 -> 08:10 AM) The Bears have the worst defense in the league. Not sure the QB had much to do with that. Not to mention one of the worst ST in the league as well. That falls on both Trestman and Emery because Emery wanted a ST full of rookies to develop but that hasn't exactly worked out.
  22. Merry Christmas everyone!! Hope you all have a wonderful and safe holidays! I'll start out by saying my parents got me a Jeff Samardzija jersey for my birthday/Christmas! If you don't know my story, our families (mine and Samardzija's) have known each other for a long time since I was a little kid (now 23). And my cousin is best friends with him, so this had a lot of meaning. Enjoy spending time with family everybody! Merry Christmas and Go Sox!
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 12:30 PM) Phil Rogers ‏@philgrogers 43s43 seconds ago White Sox's Avi Garcia hit .312 with 5 HRs, 22 RBIs and .894 OPS in 34-game stint in Venezuela. That's the guy Robin Ventura will hit 5th. Those are pretty great numbers considering he started really slow.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 10:26 AM) This would be huge if we could get Nate back by mid-season. Any reports on when they estimate him being able to throw on a mound, etc? If he's starting to throw by next month, I could see him throwing on a mound in March or April. Usually only takes a couple months after you begin to throw that you can get on a mound, that's barring no setbacks of course.
