  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 02:26 PM) Basketball is a sport that depends far more upon athleticism. Football is similar for the "skill" positions, but there is more technique involved in those to some extent. Baseball, on the other hand, involves less athleticism and much more mechanics and hand eye coordination and practice. Those great athletes with well-refined skills will still be the best players, but I can't name you another sport in which Billy Butler would be even remotely considered a good player. But you also put basketball players or football players in the batters box or in the infield, fielding a grounball, they would look incompetent.
  2. Excluding Carlos Rodon 1. Tim Anderson 2. Micah Johnson 3. Courtney Hawkins 4. Tyler Danish 5. Chris Beck 6. Trey Michalczewski 7. Frank Montas 8. Carlos Sanchez 9. Matt Davidson 10. 3. Regarding starting pitchers contracts. Kershaw is set to make 215 million dollars. My starting 5 using Kershaw's 215 million 1. Chris Sale (32.5 million) 2. Adam Wainwright (97.5 million) 3. Yu Darvish (60 million) 4. Martin Perez (12.5 million 5. Matt Latos (11.5 million) That's insane.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 12:22 PM) Sounds like he might rise up to a McD's AA too. At all these events he's billed as the best PG there. I think he's the best chance. Clearly has a great relationship with Groce, they've been on him for a while, and there's no Kentucky or Kansas in the mix. He's buddies with Thomas, so maybe we get a package deal of sorts. Bragg I think is a pipe dream with the other schools involved, but who knows. Bragg has been real pro Illini as of late. And Thomas was showing some Illini love on Instagram the other day. Encouraging to see.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) That'd be quite the class. It would. Aaron Jordan and DJ Williams are having really good summers also. I think Evans is key to the class, Illinois really needs a true PG.
  6. QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 12:00 PM) Wieters is a free agent after next season and will probably want a big payday. I know he's out for the year, but I wonder if we could get him via trade and try to extend him. I'd love to add Wieters. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) Danks for Chance Sisco (minor league catcher) and another prospect or two. But I would love to build a deal around Sisco. I can see this. Get one or two pitchers. Tyler Wilson comes to mind. 24 and putting decent numbers up in AAA, could be close to the show.
  7. I really think Illinois lands Jawan Evans, Elijah Thomas and Carlton Bragg
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 11:18 AM) Sale for Machado & Bundy Not a chance.
  9. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 11:17 AM) Not really seeing a good match.....I think the Sox should/will be targeting near MLB ready prospects and the O's don't really have any of that. Yeah I agree. They are too top heavy with pitching with Gaussman, Bundy, and Harvey but after that its pretty bleu

  11. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 18, 2014 -> 10:03 AM) Davidson 2013 AAA: 115 G, .280/.350/.481, 32 2B, 17 HR, 9.2 BB%, 26.8 K%, 117 wRC+ Davidson since Jun 1: 39 G, .250/.323/.534, 6 2B, 12 HR, 8.5 BB%, 24.2 K%, 133 wRC+ Safe to say the slow start was just a glitch in the Matrix. He honestly could be a right handed Adam Dunn in his prime. 240-260 hitter with 30-40 HR potential.
  12. Davidson with a HR
  13. Never mind. Seth Lakso ‏@SethLakso 1m Well that happened fast. Erik Johnson’s night is over and it’s 8-5. #cltknights did him no defensive favors whatsoever in the sixth. At least he had good stuff from the numbers. Defense didn't help him.
  14. There's the implosion from Johnson. No walks though
  15. Wilkins with 2 HRs tonight. 18 on the season...
  16. Semien with a HR Dykstra looking real good in his Dash debut so far.

  19. Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 10m Mariners are having ongoing trade discussions with Rays regarding David Price and Ben Zobrist, sources say. No deal imminent. This would be a huge deal if it happened. Would take Mariners out of Viciedo sweepstakes I assume
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 17, 2014 -> 01:36 PM) https://twitter.com/KnightsBaseball/status/...840604088918016 Wang signed Axelrod to Cincinnati Heath released to go to Japan Also Black and Jirchele to Charlotte. Saladino to the DL. Another player who was having a good year struck by the injury bug. Unreal
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2014 -> 01:25 PM) Sky News Newsdesk ‏@SkyNewsBreak 37m Sky Sources: #MH17 flight was in a restricted area unsuitable for civilian aircraft They showed on CNN that the plane was off track but only because of a bad storm on their normal route to the South, so they traveled furthered North to avoid the storm.
  22. Is he gonna start in Winston Salem or be a reliever?

  25. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 17, 2014 -> 09:37 AM) Maybe it's just healthy skepticism, but how does Javier Baez remain in the top 10 with a batting line of .240/.305/.449/.753, a K/BB rate of 4, and a K rate of 31.6%? I agree. I saw Jason Parks tweet about him saying what Baez' ceiling and floor were. His ceiling is MVP caliber but his floor his AAAA player.
