  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 10:31 PM) Ozzies tail is really really really planted between his legs. That's the only way he was going to come back even for this. What do you mean by that?
  2. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 08:18 PM) Danks ranks 83rd of 96 qualified pitchers in FIP, 95th of 96 in xFIP and 89th of 96 in SIERA. He has greatly reduced stuff and has a relatively large contract. You absolutely listen to any offer you get. As for the wishlists above, come on, ask yourselves: if you were a GM of the Mariners, would you give up anything close to Walker, Guerrero, and Wilson for Alexei? Maybe not Walker, but Paxton and those other 2. Alexei is the best all around SS in the AL right now, with a good contract. SS is a luxury position in the MLB because there aren't that many good SS's around. There's always that one team that gets desperate around the trade deadline. Last year it was the Tigers, and it netted the Sox Avi Garcia and 3 prospects who are probably in our top 25 as a system. My point being, you never know.
  3. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 07:43 PM) And it could work to our favor...I hope. I agree, I would ask for the minimum of Walker, Guerrero, and Wilson. Heavy price for the best SS in the AL with a great contract.
  4. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 07:34 PM) Here's the bit on ARam According to Bob Dutton of the Tacoma Times Tribune, the Mariners are interested in trying to pick up Chicago White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez. "Still, this rumor makes some sense: Ramirez, 32, is a right-handed bat - something the Mariners covet - and is enjoying a renaissance season with seven homers, 36 RBI and a .309 average in 69 games," Dutton pens. He also pointed out that the Mariners would have to add payroll to accommodate the $9.5 million due Ramirez this year and the $10 million due next season. That should not be a huge issue for Seattle, as they can work around it. For Alexei, they better be prepared to give up a lot for Alexei. They would definitely overpay I feel like to win now.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 07:31 PM) I think he has more value to us than anyone else at the moment so I don't think moving him is the best of ideas. Not if it's for a catcher. I really like Murphy and he would instantly start over Flowers. Sign Shields in the off season. Problem solved. Sale, Shields, Quintana is a good 1-3
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 06:06 PM) A good starting pitcher, at least. Send them Danks.
  7. Micah Johnson is 1-2 with a 2 run homer Wilkins 2-2 with a 2B Sanchez 0-3 Davidson 0-2
  8. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 04:21 PM) Trade for David Price? 3. Chicago White Sox The White Sox haven't really been linked to Price, but it's time to realize they are committed to rebuilding and winning, and Price would make them a legitimate wild-card contender this year. Rick Hahn has done a masterful job since taking over as the GM in Chicago, highlighted by his outbidding everyone for MVP candidate Jose Abreu, who should be the starting first baseman in the All-Star Game next month. President Ken Williams and owner Jerry Reinsdorf know what it's like to hold up a World Series trophy in the White House, and with Williams' passion for winning and Reinsdorf's willingness to spend smartly to win, a potential trade for Price should not be dismissed. Remember when the White Sox flew under the radar and outbid everyone for Jake Peavy? I can see them doing it again here. The Rays could ask for second baseman Micah Johnson, who has quickly proven himself in the minor leagues to the tune of a .297 average and .371 on-base percentage. Johnson has good speed, and his defense is improving. Most importantly, he profiles as a leadoff hitter, the type of table-setter the Rays need atop their lineup. The Rays would need another significant piece in the deal, and struggling starting pitcher Erik Johnson could be the guy who makes the deal work. He was impressive in 2012 and 2013, when he showed plus stuff, and was in the team's rotation to start the season, but five failed starts got him shipped to the minors, where he continues to struggle. A physical would have to be done, of course, but if he's cleared, there's no reason he can't bounce back and develop into a solid No. 3 starter. Solving problems at second base and the top of the lineup while adding another solid starter might be enough to get Price at the end of the day. Since this package is "light" compared to the previous two deals, a throw-in such as right-handed pitching prospect Chris Beck would be necessary. The trade: Micah Johnson, Erik Johnson and Chris Beck for Price. Is this from a website, and how old is this? Because I would do that deal in a second.

  10. De Aza was never that bad of a hitter, just unlucky at times. He has played well lately.
  11. Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo · 1h #Yankees are getting lots of calls on John Ryan Murphy, as @jaspsch writes for @mlbdailydish: http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2014/6/18/5821...ls-for-recently … This could be us.

  13. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) Any reason Birmingham, Winston-Salem, Kannapolis all off on the same night? seems strange for a Tuesday night. All Star games
  14. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 08:32 PM) Erik Surkamp had a great start, 7.0 IP, 3H, 0R, 1BB, 8K. His K:BB rate this year is excellent. He does good the first 4 innings but always finds trouble in the 5th or 6th. Good to see a solid start.
  15. Phegley and Wilkins also with homers.

  17. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) What does that matter, we're judging Rick Hahn. Because at the time, they were the best trades available. If Davidson hadn't been struggling, would you still of hated the the Reed trade? You make that trade 10 times out of 10 to get a potential franchise third baseman for an above average closer but replaceable (and I'm a huge Reed fan)
  18. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 10:55 AM) Absolutely. Eaton had an awful May, his June so far has been meh but he still has a .352 obp, and his March and April has been fine. He hyped himself up pretty high saying he was gonna have a .400 obp, but if he simply has that .350+ obp from here on out I'll be ok with that. Avisail Garcia just turned 23 3 days ago and looks to have pretty good potential. Davidson is a top 100 prospect. He obviously hasn't worked out thus far in hindsight but to get a guy who was viewed as highly as he was for a reliever is somewhat impressive. Montas, though he was a bit shaky last night has been fantastic overall Wendelken has looked good as well. To say they got nothing is a little silly. Perfectly said. "Retooling" or "rebuilding" takes some time. There already have been ups and downs this season, but you can see the improvement in the young players, and in the minor leagues after a rough start, they are coming around too (individuals not teams).
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 10:17 AM) Nieto's starting!!!! Robin reads SoxTalk
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 15, 2014 -> 10:16 AM) Adam Eaton isn't anything to get excited about and neither is Davidson or Wendelken. Montas is a High-A pitcher experiencing success for the first time this year. Like I said Hahn talks a good game. You're crazy if you cannot see the upside in all those deals besides the Rios deal. I would just like to know what moves you would of made with the likes of Peavy, Rios and Reed. The deals Hahn made, I still would make today. Davidson will be fine, Montas and Wendelken have enjoyed some success.
  21. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 01:50 PM) And neither is Sierra. For as good as our offense has been this year, we have some GLARING holes on this team. At least Luery provides speed and versatility. K-Flow is laughably useless at this point. Release him, call up Phegley, and let Phegs and Nieto be the L/R platoon. Completely agree
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) Rick Hahn will acquire everyone for cash considerations They gave up SP Jake Sanchez from Kanny.
