2016 MLB Draft
Eye to keep a name on in the late late rounds: P Eric Palmer at Concordia University Chicago He's a buddy of mine. Sox fan and having a pretty good season so far. Sits 90-92. Tops at 93. + slider Curveball shows plus, but hangs flat a bit Average change Sox have shown interest in him at games. Padres, A's, and Giants were at his last start. If anyone wants to follow, he's on the mound tonight against Concordia Texas. http://www.sidearmstats.com/concordia/baseball/

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 06:02 PM) Groce shouldn't see another day at coach of U of I. Supposedly this same incident happened where Jaylon Tate's happened. That turned out to be fake, so let's wait if he's proven guilty.

Adam LaRoche retires
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) Ok, I'm all the way on management's side on this. Forget LaRoche, and get over it, Sale and Eaton, and the rest of the s***-kickers. Same. Players need to grow up. They are privileged to play a game they love and probably have never had a conventional business 9-5 job in their life. If they can't get over it, trade them. Don't care how talented they are. They aren't focusing on the big picture, they're focusing on a f***ing 14 year old kid

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) If Jimmy Rollins went to KW and moaned, and then said this http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0315-story.html he is not a leader. A leader would cop to what he did and explain it to everyone. Or wants it to keep it in house like it should be.

If this bothers Sale and Eaton (only 2 that we've heard/know that publicly complained), then they are soft and not focused on the real picture.

Adam LaRoche retires
Like White Sox Dave just tweeted, if the Sox let a 14 year old kid allowed in the clubhouse, then they are mental midgets and shouldn't be playing baseball. I feel like this is so immature lol.

Adam LaRoche retires
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) Maybe not, but still it is an unwelcome sign. What constitutes the amount of dialing it back? If he is a distraction every day, why wouldn't he be a distraction once a week? They said it wasn't a distraction, but what constitutes LaRoche bringing his kid to work every single day? In no business is that acceptable.

Ravens signed S Eric Weddle. Wonder if the Ravens will release Will Hill with Matt Elam coming back. Will Hill would look really good next to Amos in Fangio's defense.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) Odd that this comes out right after the Duke Lacrosse documentary airs. That's what I was thinking. Question, does anyone else think that whoever claims something of abuse has happened to them and it turns out to be false (whether it's a man or woman), do you think that person should person should be charged/fined for filing a false report? A lot of the time, if a person is proven innocent, they do not go after the person that accused them whether it's filing charges or suing for defamation. What do you guys/ladies think of this?

IlliniHQ @IlliniHQ 9m9 minutes ago NEW: Attorney for #Illini Jaylon Tate tells @schenk that woman recants accusation. http://bit.ly/1QVnqlD Wow. Attorney for Tate received 2 emails saying that Tate was not present when this happened, and that the girl did it to herself. If true, this is why women who do get abused are so afraid to come public because these kind of lies seem to be trending. Hopefully she's not covering up for Tate or another athlete, but if she really did this to herself, just dumb. Another thing, Tate got arrested, right? How can he be arrested if they had no real evidence other than the woman's statement?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) there is not one deal that Pace has made this offseason that i have thought "Damn, that is an overpay" I agree. The only deal I thought "eh" was Porter's deal, but he doesn't have much guaranteed money and he provides good depth. Seems to fit in Fangio's defense real well too.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) The might break the interview process up into stages. That is pretty normal. Absolutely take the interviews though. It really is great practice. Yeah it's a 3 step interview process. I did apply to 3 other jobs over the weekend via indeed.com. One of them was ticket sales or grounds crew for the Cubs...... Sox didn't have any job openings like that.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) I am about 95% sure that is a bottom of the financial barrel sales job, FWIW. The interview will probably revolve around questions related to how social and public you are, as well as how willing you are to work tireless hours and be told no at 99.9% of the turns. I asked my friend about the 1st interview. He said all it was is that they want to get to know you and go over your resume. I have another friend that went through the internship program and did get hired full time out of of it.
