  1. Bummer looked really good after the first couple hitters. Having a little rust is to be expected for a dude that hasn't pitched in the bigs in like 3 months.
  2. I like Conforto, certainly was a Conforto guy going into this season before it was known he was out for the season. Its pretty obvious that he would have a been a huge piece to this team if were available. As for 2023, he'd be a solid back up option to Nimmo, but Nimmo is a better fit at this point. That doesn't mean Conforto wasn't a great roster fit for this team this year had he been healthy.
  3. This got me curious because you've been banging this Sox have no payroll space drum for awhile, and its just really not accurate. Sox have $130m committed to 13 players in Lynn, Grandal, Moncada, Hendriks, TA, Eloy, Pollock, Robert, Kelly, Graveman, Garcia, Bummer and Diekman. They have ~$26.5m locked into 7 arb players in Giolito, Cease, Engel (non tender candidate), Kopech, Lopez, Mendick (non tender candidate) and Ruiz (non tender candidate), which include healthy raises in the arb estimates. Fill out the roster with 6 pre-arb guys and you're at ~$4m. That is approximately $160M payroll on a team with a $196M payroll in 2022. SO they have at least $30M to play with on an AAV basis and that would include a slight reduction in payroll from 2022 to 2023. There is plenty of room to sign a notable FA.
  4. There’s plenty of money for Nimmo if Abreu is gone. They’ll get paid similarly enough on an AAV basis.
  5. Pollock is a natural platoon for Colas, and he’s almost certainly on the roster. Still think they should sign an actual OF tho; Colas - Robert - Nimmo is a good defensive OF. I let Jose walk and put AV at 1B in this scenario. Eloy DH. But you can trade AV for SP and keep Abreu too. Sheets is Eloy insurance and Pollock 4th OF that probably ends up with 400+ ABs. It’s a much much better roster.
  6. Is TA even for sure coming back? Fegan said he’s still a week away from baseball activities.
  7. To be fair, he has been since Yoan's recent injury
  8. Harrison blows. He had one job on this team and that is to play his position. He’s been bad defensively for over a month now. So ready to be done with him.
  9. I don’t think making up 3 games in 27 games is a “miracle” when they made up 4 games (but since lost 1) in 4 games against the very same team. Tall task? Sure. Unlikely? Yes. Miracle? Nah. I don’t really care to debate Colas with you in every thread. If they called him up it’s not like I’d be mad. But I tend to think that extra control is better than not getting extra control. AV for instance is very likely a trade candidate this offseason and he’d have significantly more value than he does if Sox weren’t inpatient and stupid. It’s not always just about 2028, it’s about trade value as well. Another example is Kopech who the Sox would have 2 more years of control of if they didn’t call him up needlessly for a couple starts in 2018 and then watch him blow his elbow out. If the Sox were gonna call up Colas, he’d be here already. So you can gnash your teeth all you’d like, but he’s not coming.
  10. There were never 17 games left, but yeah. Cleveland is much, much more likely to play around .500 ball than .650 ball. Of course, so are the Sox. It's Cleveland's division to win (or lose). There is no doubt about that. Thankfully for the Sox, they aren't any good either. If Cleveland plays .650 ball, the Sox have no chance.
  11. I mean I sort understand this take, but the Sox know they need to solve the AV/Abreu/Eloy issue, and get a real OF that bats LH. I expect both of those issues to be resolved. Otherwise, I do expect the roster to look very similar because there just isn't a whole lot you can do otherwise unless you're doing some drastic like trading TA. The top 4 in the rotation is set. The pen is set. The lineup is set besides an OF and 2B, with 2B having a slew of internal options. The biggest shake up is (hopefully) going to be a whole new coaching staff.
  12. Sox definitely going to need some help from KC. But KC is 4-8 against the Guardians. I guess "absolutely own" is a bit of a relative term, but if KC can go 3-4 against the Tribe rest of the way, that'd be great. KC has a the pitching matchup advantage today - need a W. Also, the Sox have the easiest remaining schedule of the Twins, Guardians and Sox. Twins still have three in a row against the Yanks who really do "absolutely own" the Twins. WOuldn't be surprised in the least to see the Twins get swept in that series. Twins and Guardians still play 8 - would be great to see Twins get swept in NY and then turn around and win 2/3 this weekend in MN. Realistically, Sox just need to take care of their own business and play their best ball of the season these last 27. If they do that, they're going to be in it the final week.
  13. Lol, if the Sox go 20-6 (there are 26 games left now; not 27), they'll win the division handily. 85 wins is probably what wins this division.
  14. I expect Sox to lose today, fall to 4 GB. Then go 5-1 against the A's and Rox and climb back to 2 GB with 19 to play. But they'll definitely control their own destiny at that point with 4 of 7 with Cleveland right after that. Go 3-1 against Cleveland and its far from over. An awful lot of ifs, though.
  15. Don’t understand not running there but I guess they figure he’s gonna get another at bat. But I’d probably run Harrison.
  16. Colas isn’t coming until May 2023. It’s the right decision. Time to let it go.
  17. Alright boys, score some fucking runs.
  18. Well that was pathetic and disheartening
  19. Idk. He’s clearly not right and should have been ILd 2 weeks ago, but once they committed to not doing that, I don’t really have a problem with them trying him out post paternity leave. But you just gotta do the IL now. It sucks cause we need him and it’s do or die time but he’s not contributing with one hand.
  20. Guardians won. Need to find a way to eek this one out.
  21. Well at least they yanked him. Look forward to seeing Haseley called up tomorrow.
