7/6 Twins @ Sox, 1:10 PM
Inching closer to apathy. A loss today probably gets me there. This team BADLY need an 8-2 or 9-1 week run. May as well start it today.

I am inc Burger will be optioned this morning.

Fire Tony Chant
I just don’t see anyway that is happening, even though you are absolutely correct.

GT 7/5: MIN @ SOX, The day after
May as well fire Larussa during the rain delay.

GT 7/5: MIN @ SOX, The day after
He’s throwing more innings than he has since 2018 would be a pretty good reason.

GT 7/5: MIN @ SOX, The day after
This is not accurate, though they won’t be sending him down. He has less than 5 years of service and 2 options remaining.

Not really interested in just giving him away. Let’s try a new coaching staff first.

No more rain shortened They beat the piss out of the Twins last season.

What to do with Abreu?
I think Pollock coming back is becoming more likely. He’s prob not gonna reject 1 year $11-12M ($1M escalators every 50 PA starting with 400) unless he has a huge 2nd half, even with the $5M buyout. Best case is he catches fire and a multi year deal starts to look realistic, but we’re a ways away from that right now.

The Grandal-Zavala-McGuire Conundrum
Lol Collins sucks balls at catching and is hitting about a .150 in 150 PA between AAA and the majors this year. McGuire is nothing special, but he is at least a solid to above average catcher which this team needs. It was a good trash for trash trade for the Sox.

Eloy rehab starts again 6/21
Really is incredible. You would think they would have put a bit more effort into making Pollock a decent RF the last 2 months if this was the plan.
-
Grandal starts Rehab tomorrow
Hopefully he rakes in AA and we see him back for that Twins series next week.

For sure. The only one of that group that’s been a true pleasant surprise is Cueto. Zavala has been pretty darn good in a sss - he deserves props - but have to imagine regression is coming very soon. Rees is a fine glove first backup catcher that can’t hit a lick, which is about what he all thought.

Sheets has been decent since his last callup but he's still been brutal this season, nor is/was he really an 'addition". He was the plan A for DH, which I think many here told you all offseason was a colossal mistake. And well...

Rain seems to be pushing later into the night.

Eloy rehab starts again 6/21
Eloy should be back tomorrow. Imagine Burger to AAA since he's been glued to the bench since Yoan's return.

Grandal starts Rehab tomorrow
Man, you've really turned on Yaz. Lets hope his bottom half is strong because we could certainly use his left handed stick and OBP.

The 8-5 Triple Play…
Probably time they change that guidance if they want any chance of meaningful baseball this fall.

GT 7/5: MIN @ SOX, The day after
Weather.com suggests Sox should have a window to play, but lots of talk on twitter about this one potentially getting bagged.

well that's not ideal for the Sox. I'd much rather face Archer. Hopefully this means we get Archer tomorrow instead of Ryan.

What to do with Abreu?
Again, ignoring half of the league's player pool over a couple of poor signings (and truly, that is all it is), is absolutely insane. NL to White Sox doesn't mean you suck. Signing shitty players that are towards the end of their career that provide little value outside of their bat is why this has been an issue for the Sox. But carry on with this crazy thought process if you wish.
-
What to do with Abreu?
So your suggestion is to ignore half of major league baseball due to some silly occurrence that has happened with a few aging players? Brilliant strategy! Plus, Yaz was more than worth his contract in the first 2 seasons so that one doesn't really even hold true. Its really just an Adam Dunn and Adam LaRoache problem. Sign players that do more than just hit (like Nimmo) and it won't be as big of an issue even if there is some adjustment period to the new league.
-
What to do with Abreu?
That really has no bearing on things whatsoever. Nimmo would be a huge step in solving this team's problems.
-
What to do with Abreu?
I'd use the $ towards signing Brandon Nimmo. Realistically, Jose will be back if he wants to play here though assuming JR is still around come December. It is hard to say this team would be better without Jose - I truly don't believe that - but the team is so much better defensively and lineup-balance wise if he's gone. Spend that $ on Nimmo, move AV to 1st (can still play some LF on days when they wanna get Sheets in lineup) and move Eloy to DH fulltime. Anderson SS, Moncada 3B, Robert CF, AV 1B/LF, Eloy DH, Yaz C, Pollock LF, Nimmo RF, Harrison/Leury 2B (would hope they'd improve there, but won't hold my breath with the team option) BN: Leury/Harrison, Sheets, Engel, McGuire/Perez Team defense improves pretty drastically and much more balance in the the lineup. I think Pollock is probably back next year because he's unlikely to opt out on his end for 1/$10-12M, and with the $5M buyout, if the net cost is $5-7M for 1 year, I think Sox keep him around, which is probably fine.

Win the next 2 vs. the Twinkies; take 3 of 4 from DET. 43-41 at the end of the week, likely no worse than 3 GB. Tall task, but gotta start making progress sooner rather than later.
