  1. That's fair. Sox deserve plenty of criticism for a myriad of decisions. I just don't think this one is at the top of the list of things to b**** about. Sticking with a lifeless corpse as the captain of the Titanic, and not acquiring a legitimate LHH or two this offseason rendering our OF corners into a men's softball team, however, deserve TONS of criticism.
  2. Yeah, I mean it seems to me like this situation is a bit blown out of proportion. The Sox left Sosa unprotected last offseason; if there was Rule 5 draft, anyone could have had him. Obviously he's blown up this season and become a much better prospect, but he would have had to have been added to 40 man this coming December anyway. Calling him up and not playing him is/was stupid, but he ended up playing in 4/5 games he was here and looked mostly overmatched. If the plan was indeed just a short term plug until Moncada's return, they probably should have just grabbed someone off the waiver wire they were willing to DFA in a few days. Most of Sosa's PT was because Harrison got hurt AFTER Sosa got called up; so it seems like they either didn't intend to play him much; or TLR and the FO disagreed. But is it really worth getting your panties in a bunch? Sox gave the kid some reps and let him taste the big leagues. It was a tiny sample, but he didn't do much. He is the right person to get demoted - accepting that Leury isn't going anywhere - based on the current roster. It is bad process. But its really not that big of a deal. If Sosa cannot become a major league quality player by 2025 when he's out of options, he's probably not really worth getting too worked up about anyway.
  3. 2030? Believe Kopech is an arb 1 next season (same as Cease) so he has 3 seasons of control after this 1 because the Sox needlessly called him up in 2019 and then he got hurt and burned 20% of his service time. Now that was a dumb fucking move. But we shouldn’t be worried about Kopech and Cease control. They’re here awhile. Let Parkman worry about silly things like that. Neither are going anywhere.
  4. That’s fair tho imo like 5 days of service time is mostly irrelevant. Using an option year for 5 days is silly, but he would have had to have been added to the 40 man this offseason anyway (he was actually rule 5 eligible this past winter if there was one).

Yes you can. He has two options remaining, and does not have five years of MLB service time.
  6. Ehhh kinda the nice that made the most sense. Haseley seems mostly worthless on this roster but you need a reserve OF, especially with us playing 1B in RF.
  7. Gio looked pretty good last night. Its been a rough 4-5 weeks for him, but if Sox made him available, teams would be lining up.
  8. Gonna have to do better than 9-7 against the Twins.

Eloy is lost. Give him the next 2 weeks to figure it out, and if/when he doesn’t, you gotta option him. We don’t need more of this BS at the big league level.
  10. Now use Yoans career sample size instead of 100 plate appearances.
  11. The Sox aren't trading Giolito and punting 2023 in the process. Sorry. Abreu is unlikely to be dealt, but perhaps if July is disaster.
  12. Ehhh. Baltimore is 1) playing great lately; and 2) not nearly as bad KC, Detroit, Oakland who the Sox still play 31 combined games against (35% of remaining schedule). That makes no mention of the 11 against AZ, Seattle and Colorado. After this week, the Sox legitimately have a cakewalk schedule. But....none of it matters if they don't play signficiantly better baseball than they have, and play no worse than .600 against MN and CLE.
  13. Doubt it. He's like 7/16 since returning and Tony's pet. Need AV's legs to get better. He's certainly not great in RF, but I'd take him over Gavin 100/100 times. Then Gavin and Burger can DH until Eloy is ready, if that ever happens.
  14. For what its worth, Castellanos would fit right in on this team. He's been BAD in 22. -0.5 fWAR. wRC+ of 93; 87 against RHP.
  15. Just waiting for the "DFAd" bump.
  16. Right. I am absolutely running Moncada out at 3B everyday, and if he needs an offday, Harrison can cover. Burger shouldn't be playing 3B in the bigs unless its an emergency as long as Yoan is on the roster. Dude is BAD at it.
  17. I didn't think it looked routine live. I just think alot of that is because a lot of RFs are just camped under that ball. .150 xBA is pretty low...
  18. Interested in see player movements today. Charlotte needs some help.
  19. Who goes down for Moncada today? I was thinking Burger yesterday, but its probably Sosa. He's looked pretty overmatched at the plate and I think they're going to want to keep getting Harrison in the lineup.
  20. Cueto vs. (almost certain to by CY) Silseth. Strive mightily to win, or something.
  21. Sox need a retool this offseason for sure, but it simply isn't happening midseason. Could they move Cueto and Pollock if there is interest come late July and we're 10+ out? Yeah, maybe. But they aren't tearing this thing down to the studs, or even trading impact guys controlled thru 22 like Gio and Lynn.
  22. I think you just simply have to find a LH hitting RF that can go get it in the OF for next season. AV/Eloy split LF/DH. Obviously its not getting fixed this season. Would help if Luis actually gave it his all out there. xBA on that 2 run double for Ward last night was .720, so definitely not a routine play but fuckina Luis. For example, same xBA that Abreu had on his flyout to CF to lead off the 9th that Trout caught rather easily. Sheets fuckup had an xBA of .150.....more routine that I thought.
  23. All four runs last night were gift wrapped. Makes it hard to win.
  24. He’s been awful lately. Had a solid few weeks there but backed it up with a couple weeks of awful again.
