I think so. But it is going to require 4 things: 1) Robert, TA and the rotation avoid major injuries. 2) Giolito remembers how to pitch. 3) Yoan Moncada is healthy and productive in the 2nd half. 4) Yaz has a solid 2nd half. Without those things, the ship is sunk.

Yeah this is definitely a career altering injury for Mendick immediately following a potentially career altering month with the Sox. Really sucks for him. I hope what @Y2Jimmy insinuated on twitter about the Sox cutting bait with Mendick this offseason so they don't have to pay him to sit on the IL first half next season was mostly in jest (I assume it was). Its worth noting in this instance that somehow Danny still has another option year in 2023, so he can be shuttled back and forth again once health. I doubt the Sox will cut him. Had he been out of options, I could see that scenario playing out.

Yeah, all things considered, I am always side with being extra aggressive with 2 outs. Especially with a poor hitter coming up next in Harrison. Still requires a good play from the defense. It didn't work, and won't most of the time, but Harrison also won't get a hit most of the time.

This team needs to get healthy on a hurry.

Having Moncada and Yaz back in the lineup and swinging the bat well is the difference between making the playoffs and not, so yeah, I'd say its pretty important.

Nothing about this lineup makes sense, but this takes the cake. I'd way prefer AV in RF over Sheets. Only possible explanation is that AV has looked a tad hobbled lately as well.

I watch a lot of random baseball, and especially a lot of the Twins, and every team does this TBH. FFS 2 TEX OF almost killed themselves a week ago against us.

I don't really think that one is on the coaching staff TBH. It was probably Haseley's ball and he should have called everyone else off, and he's hardly even been in Chicago. The plus side here that that if TA was playing, that was him.

Feel for Danny. I don't think this really hurts the Sox all that much, but it hurts him alot. Really shitty for a guy that's been awesome for the Sox and is a super easy dude to root for.

What the big deal if this happens? Just send him back to AA/AAA then when Mendick gets back. I'd love to see him play more than 3-4 days a week, but they are not going to glue Harrison and Leury to the bench, and yoan should be back next week sometime further crowding the IF picture.
