  1. Yep. There has been plenty of waiver wire pitchers Sox should have grabbed over last month or two as the pitching was struggling. Our pen is a disaster. Try some fresh blood!!
  2. I sincerely hope Danny is alright. He’s an awesome story and has been playing his best ball in the big leagues the last month. But the Sox will be just fine if this happens to be a long term injury; he isn’t a difference maker in the bigs and a sample size regression was coming very soon. Sucks he went down when he was playing great tho, really does. At least Harrison is showing a pulse lately.
  3. Agreed, but the Sox have seemed to really hold on tight to the fodder at the back of the 40 man the last year or so. FFS it took them a year to cut bait in Yermin when it was obvious his days in Chicago were over. That said, no one is going to lose sleep over DFAing Markel, or Severino or Aybar.
  4. I was sort of kidding; he's apparently the emergency catcher. But yah..didn't age well.
  5. I am interested in seeing this Mendick behind the plate thing.......
  6. The high change just isn't working for him lately
  7. Giving up 23 runs in your last 4 starts will do that.
  8. There is nothing to cut bait on. We control him for 2.5 more seasons with guaranteed $. He is worth far more to the Sox if he stays healthy than they could get in a trade, even if he has a monster 2nd half.
  9. Guessing a big part of Engel is that he almost always comes in for defense late in the game if we're winning, and we've won very few games in blowout fashion. Just turns out he started the games we did win in blowouts.
  10. Yoan isn't moving to 2B man. A week or two ago he pinch hit for Harrison and they literally took him out of the game just so he didn't have to play 2B the next half inning. Its not an option.
  11. I really do think the 15 day IL for pitchers curbed a lot of that. Which is what the players wanted. But now we're seeing the ramifications of it. Between that and the 5 option limit (which is only going to get worse next season when April/May actually counts), the teams are much more hamstrung than they were in the past.
  12. There have been reports that he could be ready late in the season. I don't know his current status, but its theoretically possible. You'll also see I qualified the statement as such: "...if he's approaching the ability to go on a rehab assignment by early August."
  13. Yeah, I guess. I think a lot depends on Eloy over the next few weeks. You cannot rely on him, to be sure. But if he's healthy, he needs to play.
  14. I think Burger is the easy odd man out if the scenario that all 6 of those guys are healthy. If you're getting an OF only, it needs to be impact OF. A guy that can play 2B and OF would be ideal.
  15. While I would love to see the Sox be significantly more aggressive with Colas due to his age (how is he not in Birmingham by now!?), but he's quite simply not at option in 2022 at this point.
  16. I just don't think I am starting Benintendi over any of Pollock, AV or Eloy, even against RHP. So that is a move I probably wait until the last minute on to see what the team's health looks like. It is why I kind of like Frazier even with the horseshit 1.5 seasons because at least you can play him at 2B if/when the team is at full strength.
  17. Which is probably about 20 too many. Also why I would have just IL'd him with the knee thing and given him a couple starts off. Would have bought ~10 of those innings right there.
  18. Imagine Foster will be back today. Believe bereavement is a max of 3 days.
  19. Truthfully, I see no reason why NY would agree to something like that. Gallo has been awful for them, but they're not just going to hand him over for a 30 year 4th OF with 1.5 years of control.
  20. Problem is, pretty much none of those guys are/will be available. Adam Frazier is probably the guy that is i) available; ii) helps fill the need; and iii) won't cost a ton. He's not a world beater against RHP by any mans, but career .760 OPS. I'd personally be trying to sign Conforto to a 2 year deal following the draft if he's approaching the ability to go on a rehab assignment by early August. I'd probably still be interested even with Frazier in hand.
  21. I Still could use a 2nd lefty and I would love to improve upon Ruiz/Foster who have both been really bad lately. I think this will be a focus leading up to the deadline. We don't really need anything splashy; just solid vets. And chances EVERYONE gets healthy is pretty low, anyway.
