  1. That's fair. I would have taken him too. Problem is, he hasn't been an option since November. IIRC, Sox were in on him.
  2. What 2B would you have selected? The FA market wasn't exactly flush with good options.
  3. Hernandez was so bad with the Sox, I don't care what his metrics say. I'd happily take a player who's cherry picked stats may say he's slightly worse than Cesar just to try something else. They tried Cesar. He was fucking awful and they rightfully cut his ass instead of paying him $6M. The people that are bitching about it would be bitching about picking up the option or resigning him for less. It is what it is. Guy sucks and I am glad he's not on the roster. Again - I feel like i've had to say it hundred times - this isn't a defense of Harrison or signing him. I am completely underwhelmed by that move. But assuming they do the right thing in RF, its whatever. I personally never expected anything but a stopgap player at 2B.
  4. He hasn't been linked to anyone. I don't really care to debate to what extent the media has linked Conforto to the Sox. Its a meaningless conversation. You don't think they'll sign him? Shocking. We'll see what happens.
  5. The page had to turn the corner on Cesar. He wasn't an option. Not only did his defense disappoint significantly with the Sox, he clearly didn't fit in and the guy looked miserable and uninterested. They had to try someone else. I can't believe people have been routinely supporting bringing back Cesar Hernandez since Harrison signed. The guy is a fucking bump on a log. I would have preferred nearly any of the other 4-5 legitimate 2B options.
  6. Who has Conforto been legitimately linked to Ray Ray?
  7. Yup. Hard to not feel those vibes. I get why people are skeptical. But the fit is too good.
  8. Yup. I'm cool with Harrison at this point. Honestly, defense is a much bigger need than offense at 2bB right now. I just wish Harrison batted left handed. But I am excited for his spark and I think he'll be a really fun guy at the bottom of the order batting in front of TA. He's not sexy, but I am content with it at this point. Just sign Michael fucking Conforto.
  9. Yeah, I just don’t take message board insiders word as gospel. No disrespect to Pal in particular, nothing against him. But we also have guys who actually use their real name and have gotten info in past like James Fox who haven’t said anything like this. You can choose to believe the Sox aren’t intersted in Conforto if you’d like. That’s cool. I’ll wait until he’s signed elsewhere to freak out. The fit is amazing and until he signs elsewhere I cannot imagine the Sox aren’t trying to sign him.
  10. The Sox are definitely interested in Conforto, even if it hasn't been super publically stated. I am sure Conforto is still looking to beat the 5/$100M that the Mets apparently offered him last summer. I am sure Sox are trying for something more like the Yaz 4/$73M. Hopefully they don't overplay their hand.
  11. So basically same AAV commitment. Who knows - maybe Miller didn't want to play here. Those are the things that us fans never will really know but are definitely a part of negotiations and player decision making. Easy to say WTF - why' they choose Harrison over Miller. But if Miller wasn't interested in signing here - ya know - that's just part of the game.
  12. Lol, the Twins aren't going to sign Conforto to the biggest contract in franchise history. Where's he gonna play? They already have 4 everyday quality OF in Buxton, Kiriloff, Larnch and Kepler. Plus Rooker. One of those guys will need to DH, along with Sano frequently. That would be a real head scratcher with their moves so far.
  13. Until Conforto is signed I continue to remain unimpressed but content with the current offseason. If Conforto is signed, its pretty much exactly the offseason I expected sans Kimbrel still being on roster and lack of replacement for Collins. There is still time. In reality, the order of the moves is irrelevant. But its frustrating as fans to watch this unfold, but there is still hope fellas. Conforto has limited suitors and we know for sure the sox are interested, even if they haven't publicly stated a need to add to LH pop in RF since the lockout end, Hahn certainly mentioned it at the outset of the offseason. Nothing has changed since then.
  14. Sox have the 4th highest payroll in baseball right now. Can you really call them cheap?
  15. Much like Balta's offseason long take on the CBT not raising past $212M, he'll dig his heels in on Kimbrel being untradable until it happens. Just his bit.
  16. The hot takes on this place are always WILD. Sox we're just picked by an unbiased source as the 2nd best roster in the game behind LAD, and since that time you'd think the Sox would be fighting to be .500 based on the negativity in here. But yes, I agree.
  17. I don’t want Kimbrel either, but he’s useful. Honestly if we can’t get anything but salary relief in return and those dollars aren’t immediately reallocated to Conforto, the Sox are better with Kimbrel on the roster.
  18. As long as you give it 2 innings to finish organicallY and only start it in the 12th. In the 10th is an awful rule.
  19. Colome has absolutely nothing to do with Montas. But yeah. Hard pass on giving Crochet up for Montas.
  20. Gross. I’d rather just hang onto Crochet and sign someone like Pineda.
