  1. I mean, I guess I get the angle of wanting Vaughn and sheets to play. I want Vaughn to play alot, and I think he will. But we're 1 injury away from either Leury being the everyday RF or Jake Burger being the everyday DH. Gavin Sheets still has 2 option years. He doesn't have to be in the everyday lineup. Even if they were to sign Conforto, he'll get 350+ PA this season. People making this stand that Conforto is a bad player is just straight up comical.
  2. We'll all be pretty happy we didn't pay Rodon $22M AAV when his shoulder falls off in 2 months.
  3. Batting average is borderline irrelevant. Career wRC+ of 124. Absolutely rakes against RHP which is a clear Sox weakness. Career OBP of .356!!!!! Bats left handed. All signing Conforto does is move Vaughn to DH/LF with Eloy and puts Sheets in AAA as insurance where he belongs.
  4. No, I don't understand why people would prefer to run out Ruiz, Foster and Burr. Three relievers that have all proven they suck. Should the Sox have spent money on a RF too? Yes. And they still might.
  5. Was an awful trade. Especially knowing they didn't even intend of flipping IKF when the deal was made.
  6. Because this place has been an echo chamber of negativity for weeks and anything they can grab onto...they do. I wish I could look away, but damn, jsut wanna talk some Sox baseball and its so engrained in my daily activites. You'd think this team was the Pittsburgh Pirates reading these threads.
  7. I mean - we needed relievers. Imagine how bad this pen would be without Kimbrel, Graveman and Kelly. I continue to not understand why people are so up in arms about signing the latter two. Maybe they over a tiny bit, but they needed relievers. Unless you wanted to watch Foster, Burr and Ruiz blow games all summer.
  8. That dudes tweet rant about Conforto was something. Lol. I have no idea who he is or if he knows anything but that rant was enough to convince me he’s full of shit. Conforto not a proven player? Haha what?! Messing up the clubhouse? Comical takes.
  9. Teams go to arbitration with their players all the time. The Sox rarely do. This all seems a bit petty over $50k (though the reported difference was $200k yesterday), and certainly $50k is less to an org than an individual. But its a tad petty on Gio's side as well to air this out over $50k. It is part of the game - just keep your mouth shut and go to arb like everyone else that wants more $. Look, Gio is gone in 2 years. Said as much the other day before any of this went down. He's going to want to get paid, and Sox won't be the high bidder. He was never going to take an extension. Enjoy his next 2 seasons - plenty of time left with Gio in black and white.
  10. Radio only today? Boooo. Really enjoyed finishing off my work day with with Sox baseball the past 2 days.
  11. Who is going to sign Conforto tho?
  12. Is this an actual offer? I will 100% take 10 to 1 odds on Conforto signing with Sox. $20 to you if he signs elsewhere, $200 to me if he signs with Sox. Dudes got like 2-3 realistic options and we have it on pretty good word that sox previously offered something in the range of 4/$75M. While I get that most of you have moved on from Conforto or just prefer to think he's not an option so your heart is broken, but he still remains an amazing fit, and unsigned. I am less confident they'd sign him now than I was 2 weeks ago - no doubt about that - but I'd happily wager 10/1 odds on it.
  13. I love Micker. Been a favorite of mine for years. Really bummed he ran out of time in this org and I do think he'll be a solid, albeit very flawed, big leaguer. But giving him any playing time over Andrew Vaughn in 22 is insane. Don't mind holding him on the expanded 28 man roster if they don't get any trade offers worth taking before OD, but I just don't see him getting much of any playing time. Would seem like 2 RPs would be a much better use of the spot.
  14. Woof. Hard to imagine this happening.
  15. White Sox sign Michael Conforto to a 4 year $80M deal with an opt out after year 2 and 3 before Opening Day. Eloy Jimenez hits 50 home runs. Michael Kopech is fucking stud and has an ERA and FIP below 3.25.
  16. I keep my interest router in my office because I WFH. Seemingly struggle to get fast internet the further from the router I get. ITs weird because the built in netflix on my basement TV works great. But once I use my PS4 for mlb.tv, it sucks and skips constantly. Guess I will just try to stop by Comcast store before season to see if they have any suggestions on improving internet strength in basement. Maybe my bitching will get them to toss in the mlb package ?. If no dice, may jsut try out a firestick anyway. They're pretty cheap I think. Appreciate your two cents! I know my wife would be happy if I could watch games somewhere other than my living room! She gets pretty Sox'd out by about.....late April lol.
  17. Thanks. Will try that first. I do think unfortunately its an internet issue in the basement. I've tried that route with the my PS4 and phone and mlb.tv just buffers. But I'll give a firestick a shot before resorting to that. Thanks for the tip!
  18. Thought the same thing when I saw that this am. He does have 1 option left too. He's been terrible in the bigs, but wouldn't mind throwing him in Charlotte and see if anything clicks.
  19. Didn't want to start a new thread so will post here. Do any out of towners in here subscribe to MLB Extra Innings via Comcast? How do you like it? Able to access all games - subject to any espn or local blackouts - without issue like you would with MLB.tv? I have been an mlb.tv subscriber and supporter. Still love it. But I am unable to get MLB.tv on my basement tv and it drives me nuts. Moved into my current house just before last season started and bought a new LG tv. Once I had it mounted, realized that the LG doesn't support MLB.tv. FML. When I try to stream via my phone or PS4, its skippy/buffers a ton. Really not a realistic or enjoyable way to watch a ball game, so basically removes all ability for me to watch Sox games in my basement unless its a national telecast. So long story short, I am considering just biting the bullet and buying MLB extra innings. But I am a newer comcast customer (was always DTV person), and have never had the comcast MLB package. Did grow up with MLB Extra Innigns on DTV and it was fantastic. Would just love to get the opinion of a few people who have subscribed to the comcast version before diving in. Thanks in advance for the 2 cents!
  20. At least you'll be able to say you were right tho! It's also not really that hard for any acquisition to be "non disappointing". Literally anything that yields something better than $1M loss is a better result than buying him out. People can kick and scream that the $15M cost the Sox carried during this 2 week span is why Hahn didn't make more meaningful offseason moves at 2B, and potentially RF (again, best fit still out there with seemingly very limited options), but we dont know that. Pure speculation. Also, it seems to get lost here that Kimbrel is a really good reliever. I don't like the guy and want him gone. Hated the trade from day 1. But the decision to pick up the option has been made. Its over. If all they will get is a salary dump to line JR's pockets, and I am pretty certain they can get that as Kimbrel is at least as good/effective as Kenley who just got paid the same amount. Sox are probably better off just keeping him for now and seeing what surfaces during the season than simply just dumping to save $16M.
  21. I don't know. Didn't really follow along here last night. Just saw some chatter about it this am. Don't know what exactly Murray said.
  22. You referring to a 3 way or the Sox trade Kimbrel for Pollock and then turn around and trade him to Padres/Phillies?
  23. Id be shocked if the Sox trades for Pollock. Doesn’t really make much sense.
  24. Always been a Micker fan. He's unfortunately just ran out of time in this org. He's going to hit .220 with a 30 bombs a year for someone tho.
  25. Eloy for Ketel & Varsho would be interesting, though I don't think Arizona would do that deal with Eloy's current value. Eloy for Bellinger would be awful. Not sure Bellinger really has much surplus value. Some, but not much.
