What’s your problem with Cease? He was the 4th most valuable pitcher in the AL per fWAR. He doesn’t implode every start. In fact, he was quite good this season.

Signing Conforto and finding a good defender at 2B that is switch hitter or hits from the left side would go a long way to helping make this team more well rounded. I don’t think we need to subtract from the core to make that happen. But need to fill in RF and 2B with guys that do things we struggle at.

I just…..I’m so disappointed. So many missed opportunities and blown decisions. TLR is in charge…but Is Katz on board with these pitching moves? If us informed fans can analyze the stats - how come the HOF’er and pitching geek not? Just sad, really. Ripped a paycheck or two in AlCS tix and it isn’t even gonna happen. Damn shame.

Yeah. It’s probably cuz Rodon is going Sunday and they want to save Kopech for a short start. But Kopech still could have pitched an inning today and pitched Sunday too. Just terrible all around.

First 3 innings of a possible game 4 were so so so so so much less valuable than 2 on and 1 out with a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the 5th a few hours ago.

There were all sorts of comments from both TLR and Hahn that Kimbrel was the #1 target for TLR/Hahn/KW. TLR was definitely in support, even if his comments today would indicate otherwise.

Exactly. Marte and Escobar instead of Kimbrel and Cesar and we get HFA, And are simply a better team. And still have Madrigal. And probably Heuer too.

Kopech can pitch an inning today and backup Rodon on Monday. Not using him in the 5th or 7th was fucking insane.

He was facing 2 righties and lefty that was 5-7 against him. It was a fucking terrible strategy.

I absolutely hate Cesar. So nothing from me. Every move TLR made today was a bad one. That included - but I could at least understand the reasoning there even if it’s not what I would have done. The pen moves? No idea what he was thinking.

Not defending that at bat. But to pick out Jose everyone is comical. He’s got what 4 hits in two games? Driven in 33% of the Sox runs. He’s not the problem.

Have you watched much this year? Crochet has been legitimately awful with inherited runners. He’s a SP. He needs clean innings. If you want a lefty there, use Bummer. But Kopech was the obvious choice. And then when he actually does use Bummer, it was also a bad time and definitely should have been Kimbrel/Kopech since he wasn’t used earlier. Then bring in Kimbrel when game is already over. Just terrible bullpen management.

I mean it’s not like Engel had done anything with his at bats so far in the playoffs. He’s been useless offensively since he came back. Can’t believe I am defending TLR a bit cuz he had just a pitiful game, but I didn’t hate that move as much as the pen decisions. Improve 2B defense after Leury flubbed a double player earlier. maybe Cesar runs into one since Engel had not done shit. Problem is, Leury fucked us in the OF too. Been a big supporter of Leury this season, but woooooof. BAD game.

It looked dumb the second it was made. Terrible trade that got worse every day Kimbrel pitched, and will continue to get worse as each year goes by. Was such an unnecessary trade to make.

So much for that “giving up Madrigal will be worth it October” angle. Kimbrel fucking sucks.
