Hmmm, guessing you've heard that so won't debate it, but it that seems like an awful use of a roster spot imo. His only utility on this roster is playing 3B like 1x a week to give Moncada a breather, and perhaps DH 1 other time a week against LHP putting Eloy in RF. Seems like a stupid use of a roster spot, and frankly, Colas should be playing against LHP most of the time anyway. If Burger is on the roster, guess they're going to let Alberto decide if he wants to walk (assuming he has an opening day roster opt out). There is really no scenario where both Burger and Alberto on the roster makes any sense at all.

He has already been DFAd off the 40 man and cleared waivers. He is in the Sox minors until he reaches MiLB free agency, which may well be after 2023. Or he gets added back to the MLB roster, gets optioned this season and DFA'd next (he has 1 option left), or gets added back and DFA'd this season to create 40 man space. One of the main reasons why the Sox are unlikely to put him on the OD roster is that fact that he is no longer on the 40 man. They'd have to DFA someone else to put Haseley back on the 40 man. But they'd also have to make 40 man space for Billy or Marisnick too if they decide to go that route. All this rosterbation just makes me more comfortable in my projection of Seby, Sheets, Alberto and Leury bench to start the season.

Haseley hit .238/.305/.412 across 463 PA in a hitters paradise in Charlotte last season. He is awful and turns 27 in a couple weeks. The fact that he is pretty close to being the Sox 4th OF on the depth chart is just proof that the Sox really needed to sign a real 4th OF. Sheets has actually been a useful bat against RHP in the major leagues. He doesn't have a position, but he at least provides something for the big league club that they sorely need. Haseley's best asset to the Sox is that he can stand in the OF and not embarrass himself.

To go play overseas? Not sure, but I doubt it. If he wants to go play in the KBO, I am sure Sox would oblige but likely remind him that he is important depth and not too far away from big league roster. But the Sox aren’t going to release Haseley at his request to sign with another MLB org. That doesn’t really happen and isn’t up to Haseley.

Seby, Sheets, Alberto and Leury is my guess. This will result in Eloy/Sheets playing way more OF than we’d all like.

Haseley would not be granted his release to seek another ML opportunity.

Lol this isn’t complicated. Perhaps you should watch closer. The WBC incident is the latest in a long list of examples. He’s almost always fine; almost always looks/acts like it’ll be a season altering injury.

Just to get the record straight since people love to glom onto me calling Moncada “soft” the other day. I am a Moncada supporter. Probably one of the bigger ones around here. You’ll rarely see me badmouth his actual play on the field. He absolutely should play damn near everyday and still has a good bit of upside. His defense gives him a nice floor. He is without a doubt the best option at 3B for the next two seasons while his contract is guaranteed and at the moment there isn’t anyone particularly close. Certainly the folks that think Burger should play over him are nuts. None of that excludes Moncada from being soft. I mean, we’ve been watching the guy for 6 seasons now. He acts like he sustains a serious injury every couple weeks. That’s just who he is. I call it soft, others may term it something else. None of it is a reflection of his talent. Here is to Yoan staying healthy and living up to his potential in 2023; I know it’s in there.

I doubt Haseley makes the roster. Too much of a crunch and at no risk of losing him.

These guys aren’t playing 162. 125-130 from Eloy especially would a huge step in the right direction.

With Romy being awful this spring, think that decision has probably been made.

What exactly has Marisnick done to earn a spot on this roster? One of the two likely have to make it. Billy at least has one elite tool.

I am far from an iron man. Happy to admit it. I am also not a professional athlete. Yoan Moncada is still most definitely soft. We have a very large sample size to base this off.

Yoan should be fine. It was an extremely mild collision. Dude probably rolls around on the ground when he stubs his toe at home.

Reyes is an awful defender. He’s not really a 4th OF option imo.

Still looking to fill one spot. This is a great league. Obviously the price point is a tad high, but baseball is a long season. We're talking less than $15/week. Who cares what year it is. 162 games are better than 15-20 games every single time. Years of control are extremely valuable, especially for a player that projects to be an above average regular. Losing a year of control over Andrew Vaughn for what amounted to like 30 April PA is just pure stupidity. The new CBA rules change the calculus a little bit. But not enough for me. I'd roll with Sheets/Eloy RF/DH for a month. I won't be mad if Colas makes the roster or anything - they're clearly a better team with him - but there are clear and obvious reasons for the Sox to send him to AAA. I always take the longer view on stuff like this, and its quite possible that Colas isn't a + value player right away anyway.

Big fan of Los, but this is one of the least surprising things I saw today.

Yes. I am not debating that Robert has been injured alot. He has. But he has 5 more seasons to play with only surpassing 92 games once before he is on Buxton's level of un-availableness. That's the point I am making. I am not trying to convince anyone that Robert is a tough guy that plays through injuries. Both Luis and Yoan act like they need a backiatomy or limb amputation multiple times a game.
