Mike Clevinger under investigation for domestic violence
I know he’s been pitching sim games, but haven’t heard about game action. Cease, Gio and Kopech haven’t pitched yet either, tho.

Was kinda my guess. Glad to see Pedro say that. And the quote from the poster was, unsurprisingly, delivered with an enormous lack of context.

Leury not on OD Roster per DVS
Definitely agree here. Leury sucks, but he's useful enough as the 26th man. I am by no means married to keeping him and would love to improve on him, but there is really no reason to cut Leury until someone proves more worthy of the roster spot, or he falls flat on his face again to start the season.

2/27 GT Mariners vs White Sox, 2:05PM CT, NBCSC, ESPN1000
Neither Leury or Romy are true OF, so I don't agree. That is basically having 2 real OF on the entire MLB roster (Robert / Benintendi). Who is going to play RF late in the game when you have to play Sheets or Eloy out there? Leury has proven to be an awful RF, and we have no idea how Romy will look out there. If Colas isn't going to be on the roster to start, you need a real 4th OF. Could be Marisnick. Could be Billy. Could be someone else who has a great spring - think eventually that spot will be Cespedes if he earns it, but that might not occur until 24. Also, Burger's role would be so limited. I guess you could DH him again LHP and stick Eloy in RF, but is that really worth a roster spot? Our bench would be awfully defensively.

In that scenario, Leury. I don't see Sox breaking camp with Burger, or with Eloy/Leury as the 4th OF. My guess is a bench of Zavala, Leury, Romy and Marisnick. Call Sheets the RF and Eloy the DH, though it appears that may be somewhat of a time share with Romy also getting some RF reps. I think they will (and should) send Colas to AAA for a month or so.

Looks like interesting enough depth add. Hope they do like 3-4 more of these.

The Sox Will Win the AL Central in 2023
This is silly. While we’d all prefer to see a deep run, I would absolutely love to see the Sox in the playoffs, and perhaps even win a series in the scenario you laid out. We’ve seen playoff baseball 3x since the World Series in 05. Im not gonna sit here and turn my nose up to a playoff appearance 8 months in advance.

They’ve pretty much already said it’ll be Kopech.

Hah, they did. A lefty with 5.5 years of control sorta fits the “potentially useful” role. Still strange to lose him if you know Liam is going to 60 day IL and it’s available To them.

Honestly missed that first glance. Terrible. But Eloy isn’t going to play a ton of OF.
-

Strange to chose to DFA a potentially useful player rather than placing Liam on 60 day if that was a forgone conclusion.

Why isn’t he on the 60 day IL then?

Andrus to the Sox, expected to play 2B, 1 yr, $3 mil
If it were TA's last year of control, I could see it. But they also don't want to hurt his trade value in the event they flop again this season by moving him off SS. Of the assets controlled 2 years or less, TA is certainly of the highest value. I don't think TA would would take that "demotion" well either.

What's your take on Liam? All comments from Katz to Grifol to even Gio saying he expects him back soon have all been very positive. Sox DFA'd a potentially useful depth arm in order to not place Liam on the 60 day. Sounds like he's been at camp more than not, and is continuing to pitch. Obviously I am not privy to where he is in his treatment, but I feel like they've telegraphed that he's doing well so far and don't expect a long term absense. Liam's focus is certainly on fighting his cancer, but I am also confident it was caught very early with the type of medical treatment these guys get. I think he'll be back sooner than most expect.

I think ReyLo will continue to thrive in the pen, but I think its much more likely Liam is our closer in July than ReyLo.

Barstool Baseball Presents: A Conversation With Chicago White Sox Shortstop Tim Anderson.
Telling any player to shut up and play is so dumb. They have media in their face asking questions. Sure, TA could decline some interviews like the 2 he is getting torched for currently, but it is a part of their job. Its one thing if a guy is going on and on about politics and non sports related stuff, but dude is talking about getting paid and fan discontent. So what.

Likely Sheets. Lol

Barstool Baseball Presents: A Conversation With Chicago White Sox Shortstop Tim Anderson.
Lucas xFIP last year 3.66, which is basically right on his average from 2019-2021. He was absolutely murdered by our OF defense. Vaughn and Sheets probably cost him double digit runs. I can see all the misplays replaying in my head. Now, Lucas did take a step back and obviously needs to bounce back, but we cannot underplay how much poor defense really hurt his ERA.

As it pertains to Tim - being a professional athlete is hard. Tim clearly has a difficult time blocking out the haters. I think I would too, so I feel for him. Baseball is a game of failure and he’s generally been a successful player, but it’d be easy to let things get under your skin in todays social media age. Just ignoring thousands of people talking s%*# about you publicly cannot be easy. At the end of the day, you put a mic in front of a guys face long enough with a largely disgruntled fan base looking for anything to jump on, he’s going to say something that could be misconstrued. I think that’s all that is happening here. Here’s to hoping Tim and his teammates shut up the naysayers on the field this season. As others have said, the organization has put its players at the front line of its defense, and that simply isn’t right. But there’s nothing but winning that will cure it.

I hardly ever agree with you, but I do here. Well said.
