Cueto is far more likely to be the gas can he was from 2017-2021, or injured, than recreating his 2022 magic and luck at age 37.There is a reason he was available for a minor league deal in 2022 - that is because he isn't very good anymore. Sox were right to try to improve on Cueto. Problem is, they picked the wrong guy apparently.

Ehhh. I am not exactly a believer in a 78 win Twins team that hasn't really improved and could argue got worse 80% of the days they play, and I don't see the Guardians recreating their late season magic. But I understand the skepticism on the Sox.

From a baseball perspective, Sox have some serious work to do on the SP side. We only had 6 realistic SP to begin with, and #6 wasn't someone you really wanted to rely on. Going to need to find a new 5th SP, a couple other depth options in a hurry.

What she describes is certainly worse than what the pictures show, but obviously any sort of abuse of this nature is wholly unacceptable.

If they release him today for example, and he gets put on an un-paid administrative leave before the season and then a suspended without pay much like Bauer did, if the Sox released him before that actually occurs, does it change the un-paid nature of the suspension.

Not defending this POS in the slightest, but a couple scratches on the arm (that frankly could be from pruning a bush or playing with a kitten) aren't nearly as bad at Balta made it sound. I was expecting a bruised neck with handmarks or something. Unless there is something else out there I didn't see.

Seems likely, but let's not pretend like Jerry anything but one of the main reasons why this club failed to execute on their plan. If he just let his baseball people make the baseball decisions, me thinks the last 2 seasons would have gone a good bit better.

I think the "championship window" thing is very overplayed at this point. Has anyone actually affiliated with the organization mentioned that the Sox are in a championship window this offseason? It was said many times in the past, but I do not recall hearing it this offseason. The front office is obviously hoping for the best and for bounce backs from key players - I too am disappointed more hasn't been done. But if JR really set the payroll limit at $180M or so heading into the season, what else could they have realistically done? The reality of the situation is the multiple championship window was burned to the ground when Tony LaRussa sabotaged year 2-3 of said window and left a mess in his wake.

I think you’re reading into offseason talk far too much. Eloy is going to play OF occasionally though. This shouldn’t be earth shattering to anyone.

Last season is pretty clear evidence to the contrary. That's the best he hit since he tore his shoulder from the bone....ya know...playing defense.

I think its more that he is a 26 year old kid that isn't interested in being relegated to DH duty for the rest of his career quite yet. Just because he wants to play OF and the coaching staff is at least leaving that door open for it (closing the door would be kind of stupid, if its they only played him out there in emergencies), does NOT mean they actually intend for him to anything but the primary DH.
