  1. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 09:30 PM) I agree with you, but he's not that nuts. Besides Gillaspie in LF, my only other issue with the lineup is Conor batting 5th instead of 2nd. I would swap Conor and Avi. Did you read the article?
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 09:18 PM) You're nuts. Gilaspie is not being movethirds corner OF slot. My mistake, but he dose have experience playing the outfield and I think Semien's glove would play better at third than Gillapsie.
  3. Just tinkering around and IF the Sox sign VMart, I think this would be a good lineup: Eaton - CF A. Garcia - RF Abreu - 1B Martinez - DH Gillapse - LF Ramirez - SS Semien - 3B Flowers - C Johnson - 2B Before people call me nuts, http://cornerthree.net/2014/07/29/the-batt...eir-teams-wins/ it combines metrics and traditional thought
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2014 -> 08:02 AM) Interesting idea. Sometimes those are available, we could potentially link or embed them. Not sure how hard it would be to do, but we'll definitely make note of that. Thanks. What happened to the FutureSox podcast?
  5. I loved them, and read them everyday. I would say that it would be cool of you guys add video highlights of the games if there is some.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 09:05 PM) Joshua is getting thrashed here, maybe for good reason, but I do agree with him on something. Danks is doing exactly what you'd figure, which is what Peavy did after his injury year too. The real test to see if he's back is 2015, and I'd be even money he's significantly better next year. Thank you. I dont want it to seem like I am demanding that the team trades Quintana, I'm just making a suggestiom in hopes of building and starting conversation. However like I said in the post, if I were Rick Hahn trading Quintana would be something that I would strongly consider.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 07:34 PM) My dream scenario for the Sox this month would be for us to win every game Sale and Quintana start and lose all the others. In those wins, Abreu hits like crazy and wins the triple crown. Coukd not agree more
  8. The battle for draft position.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 06:04 PM) So your number 2 starter is oft injured and has never made 30 starts in a season before this year (assuming he makes 2 more starts). You're #3 starter sucks. You're #4 starter has pitched like a #5 at best during his major league career and your #5 starter is guaranteed to get injured. That seems like a recipe for a great season. Brandon McCarthy is a positive addition to any rotation, and yes while he has never made 30 starts in a season, I would not let that detract me from signing him. John Danks dose not suck, he is still recovering from his injury and next year I expect a more consistent year from him, 3 years removed from his injury. Noesi can be your 4 or 5 starter going into next year however, I still see the team signing a 'flip candidate', but in this scenario they sign Andseron who also be a 4 or 5, but since I think you should avoid starting two lefties back to back in the rotation I made him the 5, and Noesi the 4. Amder is injury prone but IF he stays healthy, he could have a good year pitching at US Cellular as a ground ball pitcher.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 04:17 PM) I think this post actually is a great argument for why we shouldn't be so flippant with good starting pitching with good contracts. I think Quintana is overrated, I dont see a number 2, I see a 3/4 starter. What do you do when the market overvalues your assets more than you do? You work the market to your advantage and you make a move.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) That rotation is absolute and utter garbage. Like, worst in the league by far garbage. Explain, I would love to hear your reasoning
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 03:57 PM) Hopefully you have 2-3 extra starters stashed somewhere because that is one fragile rotation. You have Rodon, who I place in the bullpen to stsrt the season and I would move him to the rotation in Iate June or after the deadline.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 08:32 AM) We have no starting pitching depth at the major league level right now, trading Q is just an awful idea right now. No that's whats free agency is for. Im trading Quintana, with the thought that Rodon will take his spot in the rotation some point during the season. I would sign Brandon McCarthy to a contract and he would be my new number 2 going forward in 2015, and I would sign Brett Anderon to a short term contract (2 years max) that is also heavy on incentives, and if he stays healthy and pitches well I would flip him at the deadline. ROTATION: Sale, McCarthy, Danks, Noesi, Anderson.
  14. If I were Rick Hahn, I would seriously consider trading Jose Quintana for a package of young prospects. While I do think Quintana has been a bright spot for the team and one of the best pickups the Sox have done in years, however I think he reached the ceiling of his prime and will never pitch better than he is pitching right now. Trading Quintana could be very beneficial for the Sox because both traditional scouts and sabremetricians love him, amd teams always over pay for pitching, especially if its an under 30 left handed pitcher who is among the league leaders in quality starts and is signed to very team friendly contract. Some of the teams that I would initiate trade talks with are the Pirates, Dodgers, Rockies and maybe the Rangers. *Pirates get Quintana, Josh Phegly and cash/Sox recieve Austin Meadows, Tyler Glasnow and Cole Tucker. *Dodgers get Quintana, and cash/Sox receive Corey Seager, low level prospect and INTL bonus pool money. *Rockies get Quintana and Chris Beck/Sox receive Ryan McMahon amd David Dahl. *Rangers get Quintana/Sox receive Jurickson Profar and low level prospects. Trading Quintana could add high end talent to the Sox's farm system and could add some great players to the team's core going forward.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 01:58 AM) If you want Seager, you better be ready to trade Alexei Ramirez plus Hawkins/Danish/Montas. Id give them Quintana (Who I'm not too high on) for Seager and Urias. I would give the Rockies Quintana and Chris Beck for Ryan McMahon and David Dahl. The Rox would pay through the nose pitching.
  16. The Sox need to develop the classic run producing, third baseman, its been such a black hole for them since Crede left. If I were Rick Hahn I would try trading for a prospect, Corey Seager and Ryan Mchanon come to mind.
  17. Bring up Davidson to start the year at the hot corner, and move Connor to left.
  18. I agree with you but the team desperately needs a left handed bat (Martinez is a switch hitter) in the middle of the order between Abreu and Garcia. I woukd sign Martinez but it has to be to a reasonable, short term contract.
  19. A thread about the off season ahead the upcoming 2015 season. We already have a report that Victor Martinez is the team's top target, and the team must rebuild the bullpen. So what do you want accomplished this off season?
  20. Who dose the Sox core consist of? Because I cant define them, and when you cant define your core then you dont have one.
  21. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) I think DJ Stewart lines up well for the Sox. ACC player of the year, .472 OBP .557 SLG and walked more than he struck out (40:30). Could really shore up LF for the Sox and solidify the young core in the OF. If not Stewart, I think one of the Vandy RHP's Bueler or Fulmer will be in play to try and sync with the rest of the core. The Sox will then do something similar in the second round getting a HS guy that slipped and backloading the system as well. The farm system is still a work in progress and while there has been massive improvements, since they lack a lot of high end prospecs (With the exception of Rodon, amd maybe Anderson) and quality depth in the system. I dont think or believe that DJ Stewart sloves that problem, because he is more of a finished product and lacks that high ceiling that the Sox desperately need in their system.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 08:41 AM) Disagree. I think Rick Hahn and his staff will identify the best player and take that player regardless of how long it may take to get to the majors. They took Courtney Hawkins and Keon Barnum with back to back picks 3 years ago. 2 years ago they took Tim Anderson out of JuCo and their 2nd rder was HS RHP Tyler Danish. This year they took a HS RHP with their 2nd pick in Spencer Adams. If a HS player is the highest rated player on the board in round 1, I think they will take the high schooler. Exactly, you always take the best player available
  23. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 03:20 AM) if you are saying that these prospects will be available for the sox to pick, est at their time. I will say forget any hs'er, I still like the 2 of'er I mention the other day, and several other pitchers. I am a little confuse on Alken and Bickford. again, many thanks for you hard work/ Yes, these guys should available in the top ten. And I prefer HS talent to college players any day of the week, especially when it comes to position players. I so however feel comfortable drafting college pitching however.
  24. I would rather have Bickford than Aiken, call me crazy but I really do like him a lot. My Top Targets For The Sox (Assuming They Get A Top 10 Pick) Daz Cameron Kyle Tucker Ryan Mountcastle Justin Hooper Phil Bickford Brady Aiken
  25. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 02:38 PM) Dag nab it. Beat you to it?
