  1. I find it odd that the Sox haven't really been linked to a RHSP despite everyone saying they are looking for one. Waiting on Maeda?
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) Now, if you get Melky for the two hole, or if Semien hits well enough to stay there, you can "reset" the pattern of handedness and put Abreu at three while still forcing the other team to burn a bunch of relievers or throw against the platoon advantage later. This is ideal if you think it's important for LaRoche to "protect" Abreu: L Eaton S Melky/Semien R Abreu L Laroche R Garcia L Gillaspie ? ???? ? ???? ? ???? That lineup just makes too much sense to me. Sign Melky and go: L Eaton S Melky R Abreu L LaRoche R Avi L Gillaspie R Alexei R Flowers R Semien/L Johnson
  3. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 02:47 PM) CSNHayes·11 mins11 minutes ago Robin Ventura said he sees Adam LaRoche as the No. 4 hitter bewteen Abreu and A. Garcia. Likes that move allows Gillaspie to drop to 6th. A lot of information right there, so we are looking at: Eaton ? Abreu LaRoche Avi Gillaspie ? ? ?
  4. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 12:46 PM) Leury Garcia survives for another day. Gotta think this is Alexei trade insurance for the time being, correct?
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/white-sox-t...o-adam-laroche/ Posted this on the last page
  6. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 09:49 AM) The "biggest" remaining acquisition has to come via trade now, IMO. The problem with free agency is that you, by definition, pay market rate for your improvements. You cannot afford market rate for 5 or 6 improvements, unfortunately. Think about it this way: we pretty much all like the Duke and LaRoche signings individually, or at least we agree that the Sox got "good value," even if some of us don't like the players. Despite that, those two guys add up to about $18m in new payroll next year. Most of us around here agree that the most the Sox will add is $30-40m. Nearly HALF of that is gone, addressing just two needs. I've liked the idea of Melky at ~$12m per year, but if you do that now, you're suddenly at $30m and you haven't addressed the rotation at all, and still need AT LEAST on RH reliever. And Tyler Flowers is still your catcher and Phegley is his backup. It's trade time. Free agency is like sugar in your diet -- must be used sparingly. If I'm the White Sox, my plan for the rest of the offseason is: 1.) Trade Danks for Papelbon - the money lines up pretty well and the Phillies are in a full rebuild, they have no reason to be paying Papelbon when Giles is there. In addition, this also allows them to part with Hamels for prospects to get the rebuild started quickly. 2.) Sign Melky - He is a perfect fit for the 2 hole. 3.) Get Rodon ready to take over 4th spot in rotation by June at the latest.
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 02:49 PM) Seriously? We aren't trading Sale. Why is this always brought up? No one here is advocating it, just laughing at the foolishness of Red Sox fans. I, for one, cannot wait to watch this team get good enough for Sale to make fools of people in the postseason.
  8. Thought it was interesting to see how we break down in terms of WAR against the AL average: http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/white-sox-t...o-adam-laroche/
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 12:07 PM) I don't think they listened to your tweet lol (assuming you're @Dunt1) Haha, yup that's me. There is a guy in this feed that thinks they can sign Sale....what?!?!
  10. QUOTE (oneofthemikes @ Nov 24, 2014 -> 11:27 AM) Steer clear of twitter for a little while. Seems like every Boston fan in sight is talking about a Bogaerts and Cespedes for Sale and trying to pass it off as reasonable. Holy s***, they make it sound like it's a sure thing. Wow.
  11. I wouldn't mind Hahn trying to make a Danks and Papelbon swap. Maybe throw in a prospect to coerce them. Have Rodon start the season in the rotation and use the rest of the money on a left fielder. Offseason finished.
  12. Very interested to see what Hahn addresses next. I feel like he will trying locking the closer spot up before the winter meetings with a guy like KRod and then make their big splash with a guy like Justin Upton, Scherzer, or Melky. Complete pie in the sky belief, but I really think a big move is on the way at the winter meetings. Exciting time to be a Sox fan.
  13. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 07:06 PM) Short deal, no draft pick comp, rests abreu, left handed power, doesnt't preclude us from upgrading the OF. Fair money. Love it This. Perfect move for this team. Something big is on the way, I can feel it in my plums.

    QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) By the way, I have to say Kudo's. Way to get this out there before anyone was talking about Jay Bruce. There might be some trying to grab you by the ankles and pull you down, but don't let them bother you. We appreciate the news. ^
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 09:45 AM) Heyward. Well right, but I'm not sure the Cardinals are interested in trading him this offseason...
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 11:54 PM) Id keep an eye on one of those guys that are free agents next year as well. There are a few that fit with what they are trying to do. Im not sure there is much of interest in next years crop that fit the plan besides Upton and Zimmerman IMO.

    I could see a situation where it could be Bruce and Latos for Q and prospects of the Sox can get Latos extended. If it ended up being more along the lines of Q being sent straight up for Bruce, I'd have a hard time swallowing that one. Would need some specs coming back.

    QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 10:22 PM) No sweat. Never said it was straight Q for JB, btw. Ya I'm almost more interested in seeing what this could expand to. I have complete faith that Rick would make the right deal for the team if the opportunity presented itself.

    Thanks for sharing this tidbit bucket. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this goes.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 20, 2014 -> 07:48 PM) I wouldn't term their discussion "aggressive" You can't drop that nugget and bail =P
  21. Anyone care to lay out the current 40 man for those of us that lack motivation?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 12:41 PM) Agreed 100%. Ditto. As much as I like Miller and think he has absolutely electric stuff, that's a huge difference in money and it's not exactly like Miller had much of a successful history prior to a year or two ago.
  23. Not all that interested unless this involves Joc
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 07:03 AM) Cub fans don't have be induced to come to a game, which is the exact point. They don't have a list of 95 thesis they need filled before showing up. Cubs fans are so much more loyal than White Sox fans it isn't even funny. It is that exact loyalty that allowed them to do the rebuild they are in now. The White Sox could never do that. I dont remember saying that Sox fans were anywhere near the best in baseball. Also, Cubs attendance has dropped by over a million fans annually over the last 4 years.
