  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 02:16 PM) The cubs proclamations of being the best fans in baseball is not that far off and the cubs, when playing well, draw incredibly on the road as do the Bears and Hawks. Really is sad the Sox can not get into this attraction with Chicago sports fans. Cubs fans are not the best in baseball. Sox fans would come out much more if the organization could put together any stretch of success, but that hasn't really happened in awhile.
  2. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 08:12 PM) Really Hayes? Are ya having a slow day, perhaps a little sluggish? Grab a cup of coffee, sit down and watch some footage from the White Sox 2014 season. Abreu is the " leader " of the White Sox with the way he carries himself on the field, in the dug out and off the field. Anyone that watched Sox baseball in 2014 should be able to see that. ^This. If you can't plainly tell that Abreu, Sale, and Eaton are now the leaders of this team, you aren't watching.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 17, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) Baez, Wellington, Edwards and someone like McKinney would definitely get Hamels. Didn't they ask the Dodgers for Pederson, Seager, and Urias for Hamels? I dont see that getting it done
  4. I like Martin but that's a lot money. That said, I would love to have him on the Sox and would've have been giving him that type of contract because he is a cornerstone player.
  5. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Nov 16, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) Wow that was a waste of time. Seriously, they discussed the use of the word "suck" for atleast 20 minutes.
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 13, 2014 -> 01:30 PM) Just off topic question real quick, are the GM meetings still going on until tomorrow, like an all week thing or have they finished? They ended yesterday afternoon
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 06:45 PM) How are they stuck? We got 4 and a half months until the season starts.. You guys had me doing a double take there, thought there was a multiple personality argument going on
  8. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) The sox really need a big bat behind abreu and he would have been awesome to have but yea, with the years he wanted at 36 it wasn't going to happen. Seems most likely that panda will resign with SF too so I wonder who that big bat will be for us. I don't want it to be a marginal one ala lind, butler etc I can see them quietly going after Melky Cabrera
  9. Interested to see if the involvement of the White Sox got that asking price up high. If so, kudos to Hahn.
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 12, 2014 -> 08:33 AM) here is another option. how bout Lester, wouldn't he be able to do just as well?? You already have potentially 4 lefties, why sign another?
  11. Another reason to consider Scherzer: what happens if Sale does eventually blow out his elbow? A rotation of Sale-Scherzer-Quintana-Rodon-Noesi is much more capable of absorbing that blow than Sale-Quintana-Noesi-Danks-Bassitt/Rodon.
  12. I'd be all for going after Scherzer. Not only do you take a big piece away from a division rival, but you build a filthy rotation for the next 5 years atleast. I know the money and years arent popular, but I honestly think he is one of the safer picks in this years free agent class. If they dont sign him, I would really like them to spend that money of a LF and bullpen.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 08:28 PM) http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/willia...&ocid=yahoo More thorough commentary from KW about where the team is headed in 2015 and off-season strategy. First time I've seen the Sox and Scherzer linked. Subtle hint drop or complete speculation? Interesting article from Dan Hayes...
  14. Jose is gonna be monster for a long time to come
  15. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 05:10 PM) Mets are going after Tulo now. Gonna be way too expensive for them, I still think they go after Alexei
  16. QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 4m4 minutes ago Mets announce they sign michael cuddyer to two-year deal. Sacrifice draft choice to get him. With Harvey, Wheeler, and DeGrom it appears the Mets are looking to contend. Really stupid to give up the 15th pick for Cuddyer
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 01:25 PM) I wouldn't say we -want- to as much as we all see there is no reasonable in-house alternative Bassitt, Petricka, Putnam, and probably Guerra are reasonable pen options next year. I wouldnt mind seeing Miller brought in as a closing option. Move him to the 8th if it's heavily lefthanded.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 6, 2014 -> 09:20 PM) Then you have the uncertainty of the NL transition to AL...McCann was a flop. That doesn't mean Gattis will automatically end up like Dunn or McCann or any number of other examples, but there's been a pretty consistent trend of reduced performance when switching leagues (especially the first year, NL to AL). Obviously, it didn't end up bothering Eaton too much, as a counterexample. Some players can adjust much more quickly. The question is would Hahn be willing to give up Tim Anderson for Gattis? Or wouldn't it be a better use of resources to find a DH on the free agent market, someone between Adam Lind and Victor Martinez. What is with you wanting to give up Anderson for mediocre MLB players? Today it's Gattis, a couple days ago it was Blackmon. Anderson is not a piece you move unless you are getting back a franchise changing player. Lock it up man.
  19. Would be really great if they could swing this to nab Pederson somehow
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 11:29 PM) David Kaplan is on twitter saying there's a rumor that Cubs are interested in Nick Swisher lololololololol The bro critical mass would cause Wrigley to become a sinkhole
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 03:22 PM) Pardon my cluelessness, but isn't there a Thompson in the system that is thought highly of? Is this a different guy? Trayce
  22. That bring the 40 man down to 36?
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 4, 2014 -> 10:18 AM) Scouting reports from AFL for Tim Anderson, Kevan Smith and Jefferson Olacio, via Baseball Prospectus. Anderson's reports on D continue to be inconsistent as to whether or not he'll stick. On Smith, that isn't an encouraging report. The longer swing was a concern anyway, but I hadn't noticed or heard about the pause-and-hitch issues. And the defensive reports are not good to hear. Olacio's report is also uninspiring. The analogy about his mechanics is pretty hilarious though, so there's that. Im not going to worry about the defense so much right now, as it has been stated numerous times already, Anderson has only been playing baseball competitively for 5 years now. The defense will come in time, it will just require getting tons of reps.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 3, 2014 -> 11:39 PM) And who here is willing to give up Tim Anderson for Blackmon? Montas? Because that will be the asking price...not 2-3 "second tier" guys like Beck, Sanchez and Trayce Thompson cobbled together into a package. I highly doubt the FO is eager to deal either Top 100 prospect for Charlie Blackmon. Not really sure why this fanbase values other teams players so highly and six players so low, but Blackmon is nothing special at all.
