QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) I wouldn't say Rush sucks - not everybody's cup of tea, perhaps. Now Chilliwack on the other hand... they sucked. The verdict is still out on Kim Mitchell, with a probable forecast of maybe 60% suck. I live a few hours from the City of Chlliwak, never heard of the band. I am sorry though in a Canadian music thread for not paying hommage to Joni Mitchell.
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) I think you did actually. I was in 1st for pretty much all season, thanks to me having Schmidt and Santana basically, and then the final week of playoffs I was away, and ended up losing. Blah. I am the greatest! I guess I have to try and defend then.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) I'd rather live in this country then any other country. That's why what some people think are major problems for the country, I think they're pretty minor. But I'm a political junkie too, for a 19 year old at least. If I was wealthy I'd really love to live in the U.S. too, but I wouldn't otherwise. I'd hardly consider the unbelieveable borrowing, the Billions sunk into the offensive weaponization of space and the millions of people without health care minor problems but, since you do I'll let you be.

I like Rush even though they suck, must be a Canadian thing, plus I gotta like out Hot Chick champion from Canada Ms. Cuthbert.
  5. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) Serious questions for Hockey fans, do you really want the season to start? Won't the playoffs start like 2 1/2 months later? What's the point? Would this year's Stanley Cup winner be as meaningful as the previous champions? Considering how long the playoffs are I think I'd be just as meaningful. Nobody really came down on New Jersey when they won the shortened season Stanley Cup last time. Having said that if a team like the Leafs won the cup after all the history between them, I think people would use the shortened season against them.
  6. The arguement could be made that in Detroit he'll face the Indians and Twins 19 times a year too. Kinda a wash, from that angle, division wise. Wildcard I guess it matters?

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) Canada makes me laugh. Politically the U.S. makes me cry.
  8. It's funny, cause whenever I talk to an American who is complaining about their insurance, I even mention Canada and all I get from liberals and republicans is this insane Cold War like "commie" argument. Without belabouring the facts of Canada's system in the end being infinitely cheaper and bearing in mind that it likely can't be changed in the U.S. I still don't understand why a better solution to this problem has to be labeled evil communism. Not to mention the only reason we have an auto industry is because the health costs here drive the price down so far compared to the U.S. That buisness subsidy known as universal health care is a nice economic generator for Canada thanks to that huge increase in premiums Juggernaut described.
  9. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) I'll do a mock for the Steelers. 1. Carlos Rogers/Brandon Browner/Marlin Jackson (whichever is available at 30, I will say Brandon Browner CB Oregon State. 2. Chris Henry WR WVU (Character issues, but great size, sounds just like Plaxico who could be lost this offseason). 3. Chris Canty DE UVA (Big DE that could help out in 3-4, injuries will drop him this low) 4 Rob Petitti OT Pittsburgh (Big OL that could help out at RT for the Steelers.) 5. James Kinney LB Missouri (small, but great speed and instincts, probably won't be available, but I can hope) 6. Aaron Fransisco S BYU (Big safety, average speed and a nice leader, sometimes over aggressive with hits) 7. Madison Hedgecock FB UNC (FB/H-back, great blocker, can knock some heads off, I liken him to William Henderson, bigger than William but not as fast) I never liked Plax, I won't miss him one bit. Bell will be good for some other team if he plays in more then 3 games.
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) We'll see how these NHL'ers feel about this type of thing when the owners bring in replacement players. I don't know why that hasn't been talked about more, I know I'd be saying it if I was an owner.
  11. Am I not getting the joke what's with these polls?
  12. On the other hand it would be kinda cool to go from playing with Kevin Kerr to being D partners with Chris Chelios. For 700 bucks a week, these teams would probably have a hard time beating the good commercial league team in Toronto.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Many Italians call pasta sauce gravy. Freaks
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 12:13 AM) Kap, what are some extra revenue sources NHL teams could have usen if it wasn't for Bettman? http://www.floridatoday.com/!NEWSROOM/...yS0125TAKE5.htm I remember that S.I. cover what a difference 10 yrs make.
  15. That article missed the actual news that came out of Toronto today. Owner Ted Rogers also pledged more money for players - $210 million US over three years. "That represents about a 40 per cent increase on the payroll in the past year," the communications mogul told a news conference Wednesday. http://tsn.ca/mlb/news_story.asp?id=113531
  16. All our top prospects from that 01 list have really sucked so far. 01 was a good year for prospects for some teams it looks like.

    I hate Cancer

There's a lot of cancer in my family too, so they have untill I get it to find the damn cure.
  18. I have to lose 30 lbs in 2 months, because my mom quit smoking after about 30 years. Shocked the s*** out of me really didn't s*** she could do it. But before the bet my favorite was always KFC gravy on just about anything.
  19. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) How exactly was she able to get a "swoosh" sound when going through the hoop? I don't care if it's real or not I like it. Though I sincerely doubt it's at all real.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) Yeah, lottery pick does no good seeing as how they don't have one. Also, just being in a playoff series would be a big step for the Bulls. I've made a living on this site calling Bulls, Bears and Blackhawks missing the playoffs when everyone here gets their hopes up, this year is no different. I say the Bulls miss the playoffs.
  21. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=113412 Too bad for Dan, he is a buddy of mine. On the bright side he has like a 10 000 000 insurance policy so if this doesn't work I think the run is over.
  22. I have been hearing tones of reports from the U.S. like this one about how it's close to ove and s***. I can tell you though I haven't heard a Canadian report of optimism at all. I think we all know what we knew a long time ago, they'll have some serious talks again in Sept 05.
  23. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) . BTW, I think it is ridiculous to call a team we play 3 times a year a bigger rival than we see 19. Thats just plain stupidity. I think it's 6 times a year sin't it? Still I get your point.
  24. Gagne 82.3 3 yrs that is a hell of a coincidence.
