NHL Lockout over?

Featured Replies

MIke and Mike are reporting that both sides are sitting down today and there is a pretty good chance that the lockout may end. We have heard this a 1000 times before, so take it for what it's worth.

NO! Really? :lolhitting

The NHL was dead in Chicago BEFORE the strike. I doubt it will come back any time this decade.

He also said that the league is watered down with all the teams that are around. Plus that the Original 6 shoulda played each other alot more because thats where hockey fans have always been and they let them down or something to that effect.

What's ths story behind this 'secret meeting' yesterday ???

ESPN was RIPPING on them about it.

I agree the league is way too watered down... they need to drop atleast 6 teams from this league...over expansion for a league that doesn't have the following is only killing the league.

PLEASE!!!!!!! COME ON NHL AND NHLPA!!!!!

I have to agree. (Oh and thanks for leaving the Canes and the Sens off of that list. :headbang )

They need to cut a lot of these teams and bring back "The Whale"!!!

I would cut NO Canadian teams off the list. Hockey is a Canadian sport, and it makes me cringe whenever a Quebec leaves for Colorado, or a Winnipeg leaves for Phoenix....

...not sure WHY I left the Canes off the list, they certainly have the lack of interest and crowds in that area to merit extinction...

Rumor has it a deal could be done with a 40 million dollar soft cap and then a dollar for dollar luxury tax up to a 50 million hard cap.

Could it be that almost no one cared if they played or not? Watching mass career and business suicide was kind of fun to watch for a little while.

I think, if the lockout went much longer, most Detroit player would just forget about retiring and die of old age.

The Yankees of the NHL? They'll just sign someone else like usual.

Phoenix

Nashville

Columbus

Florida

Buffalo

are the teams that I think need to be done away with

Why Columbus?

They have a fan base. It's a city that has been ACHING for a major league franchise. So much so that they went ahead and built a stadium for major league soccer. The Blue Jackets have/had a fan base believe it or not, because all the folks in Central Ohio were sick of rooting for the folks north and south of them.

ok, that still doesnt change the fact I think they should be eliminated :D

Yeah, I totally forgot about the Predators ( just like the people of Nashville ).

The Penguins can live, if only for Mario's sake, and the Predators can be eliminated.

Columbus, as was stated, seems to care a bit about the Jackets, so they're spared.

What they should do is move Phoenix back to Winnipeg, move Nashville to Quebec City, move Florida to Hamilton, Dallas back to Minnesota and contract the Wild and move Carolina back to Hartford. Go WHALE!!!

And move Tampa Bay 'Ning to Regina, just so we can say "ruh-GI-nuh." :D

Columbus also has a good nucleus of some young players. Rick Nash, and that Russian kid -- grr, his name doesn't come to mind right now (and I'm not talking about Ovechkin, either).

Boy, I hope this is true. I miss watching some of our young Hawks like Vandermeer, Ruutu, Bell, Arny, and Calder develop. While this isn't a real great time to be a Hawk fan, it sure is fun watching them develop -- lots of young players, no old vets (Korolev and Krapov gone! Beautiful! :headbang ) taking away PT from the kids.

Plus -- It'll be a joy watching our blueline develop over the next five years. Byfuglien, Wisnewski, Babchuk, Barinka, Barker, Seabrook -- definitely a nice start, as well as a boatload of others at Norfolk...

I could see the first Hawks home game recap:

Hawks lose 2-1. Tonights paid attendance is 11.

...but in happier news, those 11 people purchased a total of 38 beers....

come on now, what is this season going to be worth except for the playoff money the owners are going to make.

i would rather have the season be over for this yr and lets start up new in the new yr.
