  1. Abreu alone should bring back 2 top 100 prospects, so I don't agree with that Heyman proposal at all. Mark Teixeira was traded midseason with another year of control left and he brought back 3 top 100 guys. Teams are more conservative about keeping prospects today so I would say Abreu's fair value is at least 2 in the back end of the top 100. Pint right now is a reclamation project, the Rockies have no had success in developing him. I'd take him as a throw in but his value is minimal right now.
  2. I don't see the problem with throwing guys out like Covey and Pelfrey every 5 days to tank. This isn't a playoff team. Might as well get the best draft position possible.
  3. I'm hoping Q could bring back Torres, Frazier, Sheffield plus another mid level prospect.
  4. Given what the market is right now for reliable closers, I think Robertson could get a top 50 prospect return, especially if the Sox eat some of that contract.
  5. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:19 PM) Say hello to Jason Castro, Ian Desmond, Colby Rasmus and Jered Weaver. Desmond is going to cost like 4/60 after the year he's had. Probably something stupid this organization would do.
  6. I get holding onto Sale and Q if the right offer didn't come in but all the other 30 year plus year olds on the roster? Stupid to keep them. Another 76 win season! Mired in mediocrity
  7. I think the right move for the organization is to trade Sale. It's the best solution for both parties.
  8. Not every first round pick can become Mike Trout. If a 7 or 8 overall pick turns into a 4-5 WAR center fielder, that's pretty good.

Also guys like Jones, Frazier, Melky, Lawrie, Robertson, Duke all have value. Maybe you don't get an "exciting" prospect back but some raw high reward type prospects.

You build the core around Rodon, Anderson, Fulmer. Hope that Danish, Adams, Guerrero, Engel can contribute at the MLB level. Also hope that Collins and Burdi are MLB ready by next year as their scouting reports indicate. Trading Sale, Q, Eaton and Abreu should get at least 12 to 14 quality prospects between the 4 of them. Obviously not all top 100 guys, but legit prospects that project to have MLB careers.

    Blow It Up

If the Sox were to put Sale on the market, there would be 4-5 teams that would be willing to give up what the Sox wanted- 2 MLB ready or near MLB ready highly touted prospects + 2 other elite prospects that could be 2-3 years away. The Red Sox, Cubs, Rangers, Pirates, Dodgers all have enough talent in their systems. The Red Sox and Pirates are in desperate need of starting pitching. While the Dodgers and Rangers don't necessarily have a need in starting pitching, Sale would make their rotations elite.
  12. Not sure why Hahn has to say anything. His boss, Kenny Williams, did all the talking that was necessarily. Maybe Hahn doesn't want to be the bad guy and KW has no problem with being one. I don't understand the narrative that the Sox management did anything wrong. Now you could say if the Sox had a manager with some balls that wasn't a soft personality like Robin, then that could be on management. But with the staff they have, they handled everything as best as they could've.
  13. If Sale doesn't want to resign with the White Sox solely because they wouldn't let LaRoche's weiner kid hang around, then well, I'd have to question his priorities
  14. Can't believe there is this much debate to this topic. The Sox are in the right. The clubhouse is suppose to be a professional environment and not a place where a 14 year old kid roams around daily as he pleases.
  15. The Sox have hovered around the $100 million payroll mark ever since the 2006 season. With the new TV money coming in, it wouldn't be a surprise to continue having a $100 million payroll. The Sox are committed to $48 million, with arbitration, tenders and pre arbitration costs it will probably be around $58 million. If the Sox don't reach that mark it won't be because of ownership spending limitations, I have no doubt that Hahn has the green light to spend $60 million if he feels he can get the right deals.
  16. QUOTE (beautox @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 08:20 AM) Charlotte is a s*** show right now, even more so once Conor and Kepp come back. Semien and Garcia might get sent down and both Sanchez and Saladino have been playing really well elevating their respective prospect statues again. Saladino - .291/.347/.477 -.824 8.8BB% 14.3K% .195ISO .328BABIP (only 18 points higher than what originally put him on the prospect map at A+) over his last ten he has been in a slump .184/.205/.368 -.574. Saladino will be 25 in July if he keeps up this pace there is a good chance we see him in September. He has the ability to be a 15+HR threat at the sacrifice of some average and discipline and his swing can get a bit long if he goes that route, his defense at short is average as well. Honestly everything about Saladino reminds me of Mark Derosa from his draft status(7th rounders) to physical description 6'1 200ish to tools and what appears to be minor league track record. His ceiling could be a great bench piece that unlocks his tools into skills and develops into a solid regular. Sanchez - .292/.369/.337 -.706 9.8BB% 20.6K% .046ISO .368BABIP he has the hit tool to sustain a .330+BABIP, over his last 10 games he has been on a tear .429/.500/.486 -.986 and his glove at 2B has been reported to be well above average boarding on special. Sanchez is only 21 and will turn 22 in late June so there is plenty of time for development at AAA, he could repeat the level 2 more times and still be one pace for a great major league career. His profile to me screams Everth Cabrera and Erick Aybar or Alexei Ramirez in a down year. So having said all that it might be a while till Micah makes it to AAA because of the log jam of depth at 2B and the middle infield in general. Probably would make sense to trade someone in this log jam for a reliable pen arm.
