  1. This one hurts the Astros but doesn’t really put the Twins over the top IMO. And doesn’t much diminish our disdain for either team, so win win. I can’t say I’m upset that Asshat Josh Donaldson went east to another team that’s easy to hate?.
  2. Over under on Minny trading Correa mid season for prospects? Only half kidding.
  3. I’m choosing to see it at a positive - more competition in the division making the Sox stay engaged down the stretch. I’m not scared of the Twins, yet, I’m more afraid that the complacent Sox do nothing else of substance.
  4. Maybe a little competition in the division lights a fire under TLR’s ass down the stretch.
  5. Yet they don’t believe in opt outs. They are baffling sometimes.
  6. It’s absolutely what they should do. But we all know they won’t.
  7. Me thinks Conforto’s ask doesn’t look so crazy now.
  8. All eyes are on you Conforto. Time to take the Sox offer.
  9. Which swings us back around to the idiocy of picking up Kimbrel’s option only to be to seemingly stuck with him and unable/unwilling to address other big needs.
  10. I was going for a more obscure nuclear meltdown.
  11. Is a 4 year deal really that long for a first time FA? I don’t think so. 6+ I start to agree more with your sentiments. Locking up your own guys early are sound investments no doubt. It’s too bad they don’t have a legit body they could do that with in RF instead of wasting assets & dollars on stop gaps, retreads, or playing guys woefully out of position.
  12. I should have made mention of signing with the competition. Any of those three and it’s Three Mile Island.
  13. Nope, glued to the bench and we all know it. ?
  14. I think the melt down will be more subdued unless it’s a really reasonable contact and the Sox do nothing to address the gaping RF hole.
  15. I can’t argue with your points, they are sound and logical. But if this team wants to win in this big spending large market world they have to sign quality free agents at some point. The internal options available don’t put this team in a better spot to win, and wasting money around the edge on stop gaps won’t either.
  16. As badly as they misplayed that one, we are talking 4 years here and not 8 to 10. And they don’t even want to go 4 with an out after 2. Does not compute to me.
  17. They waste enough year in and year out on the periphery that it would be easy to find that cash if they wanted to.
  18. He’s 29 not 32. If you’re worried about a free agent declining at the back end when most guys don’t hit FA until 28-30, then you’ll never sign a FA long term. Some risks are worth taking when there is no one in the system close that can adequately fill the gaping RF hole.
  19. Hence saying year 1 salary. Kimbrel won’t be here beyond this year and other dollars come off the books. There are ways to make it work.
  20. There’s Conforto’s average D and then there’s Daniel Palka level Gavin Sheets. Sheets was abysmal in the field and Engel simply can’t be counted on to play regularly. I get that some don’t like Conforto but these comparisons strain credulity.
