  1. Idle threats that never have a remote chance of follow through.
  2. Same. I really wanted him last off-season.
  3. $4/80 always felt fair to me, maybe slightly higher with a 5th year option and opt outs. Whether the FO wants to pay that is another story. Schwarber getting close to 4/$80 maybe helps set the market for Conforto & Castellanos? IDK.
  4. Yeah someone has to actually play in Oakland and those two are MLB ready and cheap.
  5. Oh yeah I totally don’t know what’s in their system, I’m just trying to wish it into existence that Sheets and or Burger is enough for them.
  6. Yeah I honestly don’t give a shit about any of those dudes just because they play across town. If the Sox had signed Suzuki or Stroman I would have invested in them as players but since they aren’t here, who cares?
  7. Let’s hope so. Now that Chapman is wrapped their FO can concentrate on the pieces that interest us.
  8. I’m more concerned with a repeat of last summer where they coasted into the playoffs and pretended that the lackadaisical play would flip into contender mode come October. An improved division would hypothetically push the Sox down the stretch but doesn’t seem to be happening so far.
  9. Is it not this board’s nature to tear itself apart when it doesn’t get what it wants? Or perhaps I should say from a certain contingent? And then others chime in and it becomes like reading Facebook comments. I get it, I am impatient and frustrated by the seeming lack of effort, and we all expected a mad dash flurry of activity, but that’s not how it has played out. But the vitriolic toxic sludge spewed out is so very tiresome to parse through for any real nuggets of news.
  10. Oak traded away their 1B & 3B, so perhaps Sheets or Burger is of interest? Someone has to play in Oakland after all.
  11. If they were really so fed up, wouldn’t they eventually just check out? A shitty franchise isn’t making you partake of their product or their poor management. Nor is it making one post incessantly on a message board about repeated past grudges from ions ago. One does have agency in their own fandom. Continually coming back to the same well over and over to rend one’s garments in disgust over how a franchise operates is a choice. At some point a miserable fandom is on the fan.
  12. That’s unfortunate. I hope he enjoys playing for a shitty team.
  13. The same hubris that made them think the team could just turn it on come October?
  14. They will field a lineup of nine relief pitchers and you will like it damnit!?
  15. Internal improvement does not get this team over the hump. There are too many holes with no real internal options and the farm is pretty damned barren. The FO may very well be content with what they have, and if they make no additional significant moves they will have half-assed another off-season. Except they are in the middle of their supposed contention window seemingly refusing to push their chips in to make this a championship level roster. Division championships are great, but that’s all this current squad will ever be if they aren’t willing do what it takes to complete the roster. Sure, lightning in a bottle might happen again, magically, but how many times have they banked on that happening and come up woefully short? There is still time, but the time is now.
  16. In other words you actively want to make the team worse. Cool.
