I’d guess much like they do w/ INT signings. Up to a certain age you have to enter the draft, but if you’re 25 or whatever the age is you’re free to sign as a FA. I’d hope it’s more like 22 than 25 though.
A fair amount of skepticism is definitely warranted after the way they've behaved all winter. I'm definitely rationalizing their actions. I know I shouldn't let myself hope anything is close but here I am.
Not yet, yesterday's deadline was bumped to today. Though waiting much longer it will be difficult to get 162 in, which potentially jeopardizes expanded playoff dollars this season.
If it became crystal clear that owners wouldn't get expanded playoff money this season (likely with TV deals already in place) if they stonewalled any longer, I would tend to agree.
Thinking more about this, is this where the urgency from the owners is coming from, or is it something more deleterious? Last real chance to get 162 in and get their expanded postseason?
