  1. I appreciate the fact that he's hit 20+ home runs. On a solid team, good organization he'd be a full time DH because his defense and his baseball stupidity trump hitting 22 home runs or whatever that number was. Maybe if the Sox can cut ties with Beni that is where Sosa will eventually end up.
  2. This should at least limit speculation for the small number (and you know who you are) continually fretting over the "Sox moving to Nashville." Ishbia's going to build a new stadium I suspect most of it with his own money at some location in the Chicago area. Just reading the Sun-Times story, my God already the difference between him and JR is like night and day. I just hope to hell I'm still alive to see this happen.
  3. I'm sure it will break the heart of the posters who continued to insist that he is a "good" pitcher. 😆 And who knows? He may turn out to be in Tampa getting away from the shitshow on the South Side (but I doubt it...)
  4. Before this year, only 14 of the 144 players who had received qualifying offers had accepted.
  5. I'm guessing the upcoming lockout has something to do with this.
  6. Exactly. All we can go on right now is recorded history and that says plenty about how the Sox feel about the international Asian market. Until something actually happens it's all talk and BS.
  7. There's a big story in The Athletic today under the headline: MLB is flying high. Why does it seem to be barreling toward a work stoppage? Read Full Story
  8. Which generated my response, supposedly they were "serious" about guys like Machado and Harper too. I guess it depends on your definition of "serious". To me sending a scout to watch a guy isn't serious. Making a reported legit offer (as opposed to making a low ball one to give you an out to say 'we tried' ) and then actually signing a good Asian player indicates to me that things have changed. Until then, it's all BS, smoke and mirrors.
  9. This gives them an out to say, "we had a seat at the table..." 😆
  10. Talk is cheap. Results matter.
  11. Remember defense is associated with baseball fundamentals. That is an unknown word to this organization and it shows almost daily in games.
  12. I will when this player signs with the Sox. It's been what 20 years since Iguchi? The Sox haven't even tried to get into the Pacific rim baseball market since then. I seriously doubt they are going to start that now.
  13. You know of course that Stone worked for the Cubs for a number of years and was "loyal" to them as well. My sense is that Stone is loyal to two things, JR and his paycheck especially the way he rips the Sox fans on social media who dare question the organization. He is still a top notch analyst but let's be honest and also acknowledge he's in it for the money.
  14. Forgive me for not being impressed with the source. I'm willing to wager whomever this player is, he is not coming to the White Sox.
  15. Please link to the source on this since Getz has already said the only contracts they'll be giving out are one year deals (due to the upcoming lockout)
  16. If they are on pace for another 100 loss season that is certainly a possibility if those two guys show anything. I think it's a longshot myself but stranger things have happened.
  17. Not with this ownership that's for sure.
  18. If you honestly think it was even a consideration I don't know what to tell you because you obviously haven't been paying attention.
  19. Had to broadcast a Sunday basketball game but saw where the Bears pulled it out again. Like K.C. last year the football gods seem to be on their side. They may even beat Rogers next week at home assuming he plays.
  20. It was never in the cards that he would even consider coming here even though he hits well at Rate Field.
  21. Just a personal opinion but I always felt the reason or a reason why some organizations are good at what they do is because they hire good people. Sounds simple enough but some organizations still don't understand the concept. Granted their could be smart, sharp people working for poor organizations but to me what I'd do if I were the Sox would be to target key people in organizations that are consistently successful and basically "make them an offer they can't refuse..." Pay them whatever it takes to get them to join. That means targeting people from the Dodgers, Phillies, Brewers, Yankees et al. The Royals to me are not the model to follow. If you insist of targeting people from small franchises the Guardians and Brewers are much better choices.
  22. Exactly. This is very well stated. He's basically rewarded if they don't draw well. Who in there right mind from the state board would agree to that type of deal? Seriously that's an insane agreement from the state perspective.
  23. This organization has been dumping on it's own fan base for decades. From JR, to Kenny Williams, Don Cooper, Hahn... even Garfien.
