  1. The other issue was Comcast putting it on the most expensive tier while the Sox were opposed to it.
  2. Not underestimating that at all, history shows that is his M.O. Just saying I don't think he'll be alive for the full nine years.
  3. I'm willing to wager he's not around for the full nine years.
  4. More columns, one being the "be careful what you wish for" variety. My response to the author was basically anything has got to be better than this regardless of what baggage the Ishbia's carry: https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2025/06/05/chicago-white-sox-owner-justin-ishbia-phoenix-suns-jerry-reinsdorf-mat-ishbia https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2025/06/05/white-sox-fans-hail-news-of-potential-team-sale-it-gives-us-a-little-bit-more-hope
  5. True but without a LOT of $$$$$ to start things off you are D.O.A.
  6. If Ishbia is willing to pay for it, that is possible although given JR's long standing belief that MLB players aren't worth what they are being paid I don't consider it likely.

  8. Good question could have just been an unsubstantiated rumor.
  9. The long story I posted a few slots above talks about that possible site.

  11. Tremendous very detailed story on today's events and the possible location of a new stadium (Michael Reese). Includes quotes from Ishbia spokesman and politicians. Also had history of JR's machinations: https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2025/06/05/white-sox-jerry-reinsdorf-justin-ishbia-ownership-transfer-new-stadium “This is an investment in the future of the Chicago White Sox, and I am excited for the opportunity to deepen my commitment to the city and the team,” Ishbia said through a spokesperson. “I love Chicago, have always loved baseball, and am thrilled to marry two of my passions. I am also very pleased to have my brother Mat and father Jeff joining me in this investment, bringing their collective business and sports acumen to the partnership.” Reinsdorf never said how much money Sox ownership was willing to contribute to The 78 proposal. Ishbia has far deeper pockets that could potentially improve the team’s odds in Springfield.
  12. My God...a one run win and in extra innings too? Incredible

  15. I'm guessing it will be more along the lines of what the release said, "capital investments" aka money for a new stadium (and I'm guessing it will be a lot more than the 200 million JR is supposedly willing to contribute...)
  16. The one note that causes me concern was the statement in the release that the Sox said there's no assurance any such transaction will occur.
  17. He'll spend even less and order more payroll reductions due to the uncertain status of the 2027 season.
  18. Some good news at least although 2029 is still a long way away to see this franchise continue to be awful.
  19. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6397648/2025/06/04/white-sox-all-quarter-century-team-2000-2025/?source=dailyemail&campaign=601983&userId=602876&source=dailyemail
  20. 3-16 in one run games. That really is incredible, you'd think the law of averages would kick in and they'd win a few. Wonder what the worst record for a season in one run games is.
  21. I guess that's good although I don't know if fans will be willing to pay more to watch this s#$%
  22. JR is always willing to spend other peoples money though! 😆
