  1. You may be right. The folks I spoke with weren't sure if he had a two or three year deal.
  2. Considering the Sox had winning seasons from 1990-1994 and then did not have a losing season from 2000-2006 I think my starting point of 2007 is more accurate.
  3. When the story came out in the Sun-Times yesterday my thought was that JR and Brooks even if they were thinking about letting him go could change their minds and basically say FU to the media. Again nothing changes until Ishbia takes over.
  4. No guarantees at all, just the reality of how much worse can Ishbia be than what we've been seeing basically since 2007.
  5. There has been some individual progress but you are right, the defense is awful, they still can't grasp fundamentals successfully and the pitching is practically non-existent in part because they can't keep anybody healthy anymore.
  6. My point is until that "new owner" comes out and says he's paying for it, politicians aren't going to stick their necks out for JR. You'll stay at the present location and like it! 😄
  7. All depends on when Ishbia takes over.
  8. Tell me where and when has JR publicly said it will be "privately owned/funded?" To the best of my knowledge he has not done so. He wants someone else to pay for it. That is a big hang up right now with many politicians understandably so.
  9. I'm curious what makes you think this given the published remarks by Manfred for example extolling a salary cap and his confrontation with Harper to say nothing of basically every national baseball writer saying the same thing. One even gave a specific date, December 2, 2026 is when the lockout begins.
  10. Warren was hired for one reason only, to get them a new stadium. And that's not going very well is it? 😆I don't know how much he is involved in the team itself per se.
  11. Rock: You must not have seen the link I posted above. According to Duber in the Sun-Times today after speaking with Getz the Sox will not be active in the free agent market. So that is not going to be an issue either way. If they sign anyone it will be more flotsam and jetsam. As far as 2027, given the owners are locking out the players in December 2026 by every account and the 27 season at least in part may be in jeopardy, JR won't be doing a damn thing if he is still owner.
  12. Nice work if you can get it. More wasted JR's precious money.
  13. It IS hopeless until Ishbia takes over.
  14. I sincerely hope he does what John Allyn did in September 1970, basically fire everyone on the baseball side of the operations. If he want to include the training staffs, doctors and non-baseball areas as well I certainly won't complain. This entire operation top to bottom from the highest positions to the lowest at the big league level or the minor league one needs to be thoroughly cleaned out.
  15. And with the labor situation and the owners insane wish to get a salary cap this is doubly true.
  16. You can bet Greg's house on this!
  17. The title of the thread is "genuine progress" and they have actually had some... JR is a year older. That's progress in my opinion. We are one year closer to Ishbia taking over at some point.
  18. All you are going to get are has been's, cast offs, injury prone guy, retreads and stiffs. That's the White Sox way and will stay that way until the stain of JR no longer infects the franchise.
  19. So much for Getz saying "we're looking to add..." a few weeks ago. JR must have already told him the facts of life: White Sox’ offseason shaping up to once more focus on rebuilding rather than big free-agent spending https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2025/09/17/white-sox-offseason-rebuild-free-agency-spend-chris-getz-front-office-luis-robert-jr
  20. Bears are having their own stadium issues, I don't think they want anything to do with the Sox which would already complicate a bad situation for them.
  21. As Hawk would say "He gone..."
  22. Depends on your point of view. They've had tremendous success but come playoff time you need guys who can carry a team by them selves if needed. Milwaukee hasn't had a lot of post season success and I think that's one reason. Very, VERY solid team but put a Harper or an Ohtani on that club and they'd really be dangerous. Having a superstar or two really helps, don't minimize this.
  23. Also a very fair point.
  24. 0 for the season against Baltimore this year. Lost all six games played. 25th time this year the Sox held an opponent to three runs or less yet lost the game because of little to no offense. Six straight losses, four to go to hit 100 for the third straight season. That's never before happened in the 125 year history of the franchise.
