  1. And born and raised a White Sox fan.
  2. An excellent 'fill-in' choice in my opinion: https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/dan-plesac-set-to-join-white-sox-tv-broadcast

  4. It's not all on the manager and coaches, "baseball-stupid" players have some responsibility as well.
  5. Remember TLR played Mike Squires (who is left handed) at third base and catcher multiple times.
  6. From the Sun-Times: The unreliable offense and shaky bullpen are largely why the Sox have the same record as last season. They have blown eight saves in 12 opportunities. The bullpen’s ERA was 24th in the majors. Of the relievers who’ve pitched more than 10 innings, six of the eight have an ERA of 3.00 or higher. And more often than not, the Sox’ offense hasn’t produced enough runs when needed to support the rotation. Getz said the goal this past offseason was hiring director of hitting Ryan Fuller, Venable and the rest of the coaching staff. With the Sox being more pitcher-oriented, Getz said the organization needs to “focus on bringing in players that can help us on the offensive side.” https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2025/05/22/after-50-games-white-sox-on-par-with-last-years-team
  7. Agreed, as long as current ownership is in charge of both franchises they are going nowhere fast. Original question isn't even relevant.
  8. Sox Machine does a deep dive on Vaughn: https://soxmachine.com/2025/05/andrew-vaughn-is-playing-more-than-ever-but-also-less

  10. 5th game this year the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later...and lost the game. Nothing has really changed from last year as others have pointed out.
  11. That's the White Sox way! 🤡
  12. The pennant races in 1964 and 1967 were memorable that's for sure.
  13. Nice to see them win a 1-0 game for a change. Offense still is brutal though.
  14. When you put it that way that's a valid point. Nothing really changes until ownership does, everything else is just cosmetic.
  15. I'm guessing Perez will be done for the season and have TJS after trying to pitch in July and not succeeding.
  16. I know what you are saying. As has been pointed out the top pitching talent appears to have regressed (big surprise right?) plus you've had six pitchers have TJS, a seventh (Gus Varland) may need it and an eight (Martin Perez) as well. Only in the world of the White Sox.
  17. The interesting thing about JR is that years ago he said that he doesn't believe in spending on "potential" i.e. the draft, international spending et al. But at the same time he won't sign top level free agent talent. Those two realities seem to contradict each other and leave the team bereft of talent and the means to get it.
  18. JR says, "No way, I'm comfortable losing games but making money."
  19. Won't make that much difference if any. Why are the bats so quiet you ask, maybe because the players swinging them all suck miserable.
  20. Before the season I posted here that I hoped the Sox would play meaningful games after Memorial Day. 😆😆😆😆😆 Time to break out the CD's and DVD's and tapes of better days and winning seasons. 4th, 5th and 6th hitters in the lineup tonight hitting .186, .195 and .185 🤡
  21. Some interesting comments in today's Sun-Times story: “But it’s become apparent for them that no one has got any money for them, and the only way they get any break is from local school districts and municipalities” Gov. JB Pritzker, Illinois House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch and state Senate President Don Harmon have all consistently thrown cold water on the idea of giving any help to the team. “The best thing that could happen for them is someone comes along and gives them a billion dollars, or the NFL steps up with more money. They’re getting zero from the city of Chicago, and they’re getting zero from the state. The money is not coming from here.” https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears-stadium/2025/05/19/bears-stadium-arlington-heights-chicago-brandon-johnson
  22. Based on Getz's comments I don't think Elko is in their long term plans.
  23. No it won't since JR won't be spending anything due to the probable labor impasse and the owners upcoming lockout. If anything he'll cut payroll again.
  24. Sox Machine perfectly sums up the White Sox where fundamentals and baseball intelligence are unknown words: When the White Sox try to apply pressure, it often looks a lot like the first inning Sunday, when Chase Meidroth was thrown out by 20 feet while trying to turn Joshua Palacios' soft, shallow lineout into a sacrifice fly. When the White Sox have pressure applied to them, it often looks like the sixth inning, in which a couple of defensive gaffes turned a manageable problem into an out-and-out crisis.
  25. This is an interesting question. With the almost certainty that the owners are going to lock out the players as soon as the 2026 season ends and with a very good chance at least, at least, a good part of the 2027 season is wiped out, JR may not do anything after this year but order the payroll cut even more knowing that not as many games are going to be played in 2027.
