  1. Extremely expensive to try to do and the response would be if you are going to spend that amount of money to try to do something like that, just build a brand new stadium.
  2. Sorry...that's the way it posted after I copied and pasted it.
  3. From the Athletic survey: Which organizations have good reputations among players? Bad reputations? Respondents allowed multiple answers Bar chart of anonymous MLB player survey results of the questions "Which organizations have good reputations among players?", and "Which organizations have bad reputations among players?". 4. I'm sure they are probably envious but anything moving forward is up to them. Contribute significant money or pay for it yourself (in the Bears case with the NFL providing stadium money) and something may get done. If not you'll get nothing and like it. Oh and the Sox aren't moving to Nashville...😉

  6. There are some here that really need to read this story and stop with the "Sox are moving to Nashville..." nonsense.
  7. This is from my interview with Jeff: ML: The Sox still won 87 games and looked ready to take the next step when word came that you resigned to take the Mets job. I remember reading that you wanted to be closer to your family in New Jersey, Jeff…but I’ve also heard rumors through the years that some in the front office didn’t care for the way you handled pitchers, specifically Bobby Thigpen who went downhill after 1991. When I’ve asked the guys you managed about that, like Donn Pall, he strongly defended the way you used the bullpen. Can you clear this up for me, why did you leave the White Sox? And were you forced out? JT: “My mother was in her 80’s at the time but the reason that I left to be closer to my family was just for public relations, we didn’t want to hurt any feelings. I didn’t want to leave the White Sox. I had no desire to leave…why would I? This was a good young team ready to win; my wife and I loved Chicago and our son Dale was just starting out at Northwestern. (Author’s Note: Dale Torborg now works for the White Sox after a career in professional wrestling as a strength coach) ML: Then obviously by your answer there’s more to the story than was told to fans at the time. What else was going on? JT: “Later in the season we were in Minnesota for a two game series, it was a must win series for us because we were running out of time and I heard Peter Gammons report on ESPN that my job was in jeopardy. I was thinking, ‘where is this coming from?’ Then the last home stand of the year when we played the Twins again, Ron Schueler came into my office before it started and he closed the door. I was wondering what was going on. Ron said to me, “The Mets called me today and they want to talk with you about the managing job.” I told him, “Ron, I appreciate it but I have no interest.” Ron said, “well think about it and I’ll come back in a few days. We’ll talk again.” I’m sitting there wondering what is going on, because I said I had no interest.” “So right before the last games, we had a makeup double header; Ron comes back and asks if I thought about the Mets offer. I told him again that I had no interest but then I said “Ron, I’ve got to ask you because this has come up, where I fit in with you and the organization?” He looked at me and said, “I think both of us would feel bad if you turned it down and then something happened.” “When he said that I had to think twice about what was happening. Ron and I never had a cross word between us that season but he wanted to hire his own guy, so when the Mets called I took the offer. It was the best thing for me financially but it was the worst move professionally I could have made. Ironically about a half hour after I verbally told the Mets I’d take the job the Yankees called and said they were firing “Stump” Merrill and offered me the position. I told them I had already given my word to the Mets and couldn’t go back on it but I didn’t want to leave the Sox in the first place.” (Author’s Note: Schueler and the organization first contacted former Sox coach Jimmy Leyland, then the manager of the Pirates about the position, but he turned them down instead suggesting his longtime base coach Gene Lamont, who got the job.)
  8. He wanted to stay but then G.M. Ron Schueler wanted his own hire.

  10. Dodgers can afford for it to happen to them. At the deadline they'll just go out and trade for two more then sign three more in the off season. The Sox can't or won't take that approach so keeping their players healthy takes on even more urgency.
  11. From the same people who brought you the Last Comiskey documentary comes a new one that will be released on You Tube in a few weeks. It's called Torborg and runs over 90 minutes. I'll have the You Tube link for everyone when it is released to the general public. This past weekend Jeff's family and friends had a celebration of his life in New Jersey and they were the first to see it. Included in the documentary will be comments from a number of baseball people including Nolan Ryan, Ozzie Guillen, Scott Fletcher, Wayne Edwards, broadcaster Gary Thorne, Dave Gallagher, Jerry Reuss, Matt Merullo, Dan Evans, broadcaster Tom Shaer, broadcaster John Rooney, Lance Johnson, Donn Pall, Scott Radinsky, Jack McDowell, Phil Bradley and others. I've seen both the trailer and the full documentary because of my participation and I can tell you it is a wonderful retrospective of his life. 12. Six pitchers with TJS this season alone, potentially two more. So much for injury prevention eh?
  13. With a number of kids being called up it is important at the very least psychologically that you can't keep blowing late leads. It has happened seven times this year the Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later and lost the game. Yes they aren't going anywhere this year (or next year) but you need to finally start establishing some sort of winning momentum/ winning culture in the organization moving forward. If Taylor can help win some games by stabilizing the back end of an awful, atrocious bullpen then he needs to get the chance. Better to see what happens with him now with not as much on the line than say two/three years from now if the Sox are a contender and the bullpen is still a mess.
  14. I'd like to know when the five year timeline began... is Getz saying from last season, or did it start in his mind this season. Five years seems long to me but much will depend on when Ishbia takes over.

  16. From the Sun-Times: In 11 games since being sent down, Vaughn is slashing .233/.340/.349 with a homer and two doubles. That’s not terrific, but it’s much better than his production in the majors this season: .189/.218/.314 in 48 games.
  17. Really interesting part of this story is the news that the Sox asked Robert to change how he "works." https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2025/06/07/white-sox-trade-deadline-luis-robert-jr-chris-getz-will-venable

  19. You are correct, it basically said there are no guarantees any sale/transition will happen but many feel that is simply CYA phrasing. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2025/06/06/white-sox-chris-getz-justin-ishbia-jerry-reinsdorf-rebuild-free-agent-spending
  20. Teel with a very nice start, especially liked him throwing out the guy trying to steal.
  21. Forgive me for being snarky in this post but PLEASE, PLEASE stop with the Sox are moving to Nashville crap. It has been pointed out time and time again why economically it doesn't make sense both from a White Sox standpoint and from a MLB position. Plus Ishbia's comments yesterday should put to rest any of the "moving" talk. Regarding your question NASHVILLE'S MAYOR said no money is available for any stadium deals because they spent it all on the Titans new stadium. Sure there's a "chance" the Sox could move to Nashville, there's also a "chance" I could win the lottery, there's a "chance" I'll be asked to do a few White Sox broadcasts and there's a chance I could gain 20 MPH on my fastball and get a second chance at baseball. You seem to be worrying about things just to worry. With respect you need to drop this and stop bringing it up. Again sorry for the way I posted this but this is pure utter unadulterated BS.
