As has consistently been shown in economic studies it is basically a myth that over the long haul building new stadiums with tax payer money for very wealthy families winds up producing substancial economic growth. The biggest hang up is all the money still owed on the Soldier Field renovation. Like Pritzker said that needs to be figured out first. The ball is in your court McCaskey's. Write the state a check, pay that off and I'm guessing the politicians would be more willing to talk with you.

Just my opinion but I can easily see why politicians have told the Bears to basically screw themselves. The outstanding debt that is still owed on the first renovation of Soldier Field is a big issue and they have said so, along with having to try to subsidize a very wealthy McCaskey family isn't sitting well with voters given the economic situation around the nation amidst all the political chaos. Remember politicians are more about getting reelected than helping the Bears. Personally like with the Giants and Jets, to me it's simply not that big of a deal if they play outside of Chicago, they are still the Chicago Bears. It's just a name we're talking about after all.

As has been pointed out by others he has been in the Sox system since 2016 and still doesn't know what to do defensively and in baseball situations in the field. That's a problem. If you wish to keep him, that's fine. he's your new full time DH.

I agree it is not necessary, but the owners are going to do it anyway in a bizarre attempt for the nth time to try to get a salary cap. It will work out just like all the other times too!

If the Bears go to Indiana it will be just like the Giants and Jets playing in New Jersey. They are still the New York teams and the Bears will still be Chicago's team. I wouldn't lose any sleep over this (nor will I lose any sleep over the "reports" the Sox are moving to Nashville!) 🤡 The Bears will get the cooperation from Illinois politicians when they come up with a way to pay off the outstanding money still owed from the renovations in 2002 not before that's been made very clear in published statements to the media.

Depends on your definition of competitive I think. Could they not lose 100 games this year? Maybe, it all depends on pitching and if they can keep guys healthy. The starting rotation is still basically unproven and the bullpen is still a mess. And let's not forget the injury situation which has gutted them since around 2018 when four players making their MLB debut couldn't even make it through their first game without getting seriously hurt. They have the benefit of playing in a mediocre division though. If they only lose 90 games this year that would be a "success".
