  1. It's possible that he was told that and that it's accurate, but I still doubt that the Yankees' offer will be anywhere close to ours or Philadelphia's. And if Manny really leaves $50 million++ on the table, Harper will not.
  2. I know Max Wildstein has a blue check mark, but he's just another one of the Yankee fanboys to me. Rosenthal, Heyman, Morosi are all that really matter
  3. ... you realize that we know that you are literally one of his Facebook sources, right?
  4. I don't put any credence into his rumor, what made me think that is the fact that the market for Machado is literally just three teams, so our odds are higher than I had thought they would be. But my reasoning for thinking we would get Harper is that I find it really hard to believe that he and Boras would leave $50-100 million on the table just to play with the Dodgers, and I personally believe the rumors that he doesn't want to play in Philadelphia.
  5. I still predict Machado to the Phillies and Harper to us, although this week has made me consider the possibility of us getting Machado a bit more seriously
  6. That entire account was created just to troll people who believe tweets from any person claiming to have sources. Everything from it is completely fabricated
  7. Machado is a third baseman. I don't think he has fooled anyone
  8. Have we forgotten about Tom Longo that quickly?
  9. https://www.mlb.com/video/mlb-tonight-on-machado-yankees/c-2521274783?tid=7417714
  10. Yes, Peavy forgot to block his name out of one of the screenshots
  11. It's also the same guy that a lot of this board is currently trusting for Machado information, so who knows
  12. NBCS Chicago guy saying we met with Manny for 10 hours
  13. While I still think we have a better shot at signing Harper, the timing of the meeting is definitely a good thing in my eyes. If it was going extraordinarily well to the point where he wanted to sign there, I feel like he would've wanted to stay longer and find out more. My guess is that he left early because they are so far apart on terms
  14. Yet nothing came out yesterday about how well our meeting went with him. Seems like a missed opportunity to put pressure on Harper
  15. I disagree. The one single player, in this context, would absolutely affect the long-term agreement, especially if it's Harper
  16. Then wouldn't it be unwise of the Sox to formally agree to it days/weeks before the whales sign? Or does it show pessimism on their part?
  17. If Harper is truly waiting for LAD/CHC to move pieces and offer him better contracts then he's taking a huge risk. There's probably a decent chance that Machado signs with us soon, as in before the holidays, leaving Harper stuck with the Phillies who then get all the negotiating leverage in the world. In other words, while Harper is holding out to make sure he gets the most money, he may simultaneously be screwing himself over by ridding himself of his top suitor (in terms of money)
  18. .984 career Coors OPS, .787 career road OPS. I hope we stay far, far away from him for the price he'll probably require
  19. I don’t think he’s legit but maybe you’ll like this
  20. In the event that we sign Harper, I highly doubt Gonzalez, Rutherford, or maybe even Basabe are getting consistent ABs for us. Eloy-Robert-Harper would probably be the outfield
  21. When discussing a better fit, it cannot be discounted that only Harper and Collins, if he makes it, would be left handed hitters in our lineup. Obviously Machado is the better positional fit but Harper is better at balancing the lineup.
