  1. If Machado were a typical free agent who will sign for a year or two then yes, I think the Yankees would be more inclined to chase him after the injury. But the 3 months still is nothing compared to the whole length of the deal. Hypothetically, when it's year 7 and they're paying him $35 million, they won't even remember May of 2019 when they were missing their former shortstop. Not to mention, Gleyber Torres is a capable shortstop as is, so he can slide over.
  2. Yes. There's just no way that an MLB front office would allow a 3 month injury to alter their pursuit of a free agent who will likely haul in 8+ years and 250+ million.
  3. Well now Dan Clark has a great excuse if Manny signs with us/Philadelphia
  4. I think they'd trade Alonso in the event that we don't get Manny but do get Harper
  5. This is correct but we also have Bob Nightengale who reported that Corbin would sign with the Yankees, and then reported that he would actually sign with the Phillies, and then he actually signed with the Nationals. Yet people still listen to him
  6. I thought that Bob was "reporting" that we aren't getting either of them, but that's neither here nor there since we both know he's just guessing as always. There has been little news of substance either way, in my opinion. There hasn't been much positive news, yes, but there hasn't been much negative news either from the reporters I listed. Morosi and Heyman each predicting that we land a whale (Machado for Morosi, Harper for Heyman) is still pretty significant to me.
  7. If it's not Rosenthal, Heyman, or Morosi then it's not worth reading into, IMO
  8. Something positive is tweeted about the Sox chances: it’s fake, not a real source etc. Something negative is tweeted about the Sox chances: I WAS RIGHT. I knew it all along and you guys didn’t!
  9. Have I missed Machado and Harper signing with other teams?
  10. This confirmation bias/trolling is gonna look really funny in a week or two when Manny signs elsewhere and people realize Dan Clark isn’t a trustworthy source
  11. Encarnacion + Harper is one plan Alonso + Machado is the other That’s the way I see it in terms of why we’d still have interest in a DH
  12. He throws a ton of stuff out there based on other people’s rumors and reports and about 25% of it ends up being right even though it’s just speculation. Any of us could do what he does
  13. I must say, Fathom referring to Incarcerated Bob as “pretty accurate” makes me feel quite confident that his Charles the Cat guy is a fraud
  14. I think tomorrow might be really fun. Market is set, meetings are done, and now Harper needs to decide if he wants to risk losing his best offer or not. Honestly there's an outside shot that both of them could decide by the end of the weekend
  15. That's still a pretty damn good floor. Somewhere between Randle/Griffin and LeBron/Giannis sounds great to me.
  16. It's possible that he was told that and that it's accurate, but I still doubt that the Yankees' offer will be anywhere close to ours or Philadelphia's. And if Manny really leaves $50 million++ on the table, Harper will not.
  17. I know Max Wildstein has a blue check mark, but he's just another one of the Yankee fanboys to me. Rosenthal, Heyman, Morosi are all that really matter
  18. ... you realize that we know that you are literally one of his Facebook sources, right?
  19. I don't put any credence into his rumor, what made me think that is the fact that the market for Machado is literally just three teams, so our odds are higher than I had thought they would be. But my reasoning for thinking we would get Harper is that I find it really hard to believe that he and Boras would leave $50-100 million on the table just to play with the Dodgers, and I personally believe the rumors that he doesn't want to play in Philadelphia.
  20. I still predict Machado to the Phillies and Harper to us, although this week has made me consider the possibility of us getting Machado a bit more seriously
  21. That entire account was created just to troll people who believe tweets from any person claiming to have sources. Everything from it is completely fabricated
  22. Machado is a third baseman. I don't think he has fooled anyone
  23. Have we forgotten about Tom Longo that quickly?
