In the event that we sign Harper, I highly doubt Gonzalez, Rutherford, or maybe even Basabe are getting consistent ABs for us. Eloy-Robert-Harper would probably be the outfield

When discussing a better fit, it cannot be discounted that only Harper and Collins, if he makes it, would be left handed hitters in our lineup. Obviously Machado is the better positional fit but Harper is better at balancing the lineup.

I'm just trying to figure out if you're trolling, in light of the John Twitter account and whatnot. These meetings take 5+ hours usually, it began 5 hours ago, and Levine said it would include stops around the Chicago area. I guess I'm just surprised that it would already be over given how much they seemed to have planned

I haven't seen a single person guarantee a Machado signing

This puts us in a position of power, especially because our meeting with Machado is on Monday. Harper and Boras have just been sitting on our offer but now the pressure is on them and not us. If they want to risk losing their best (monetary) offer, so be it.

I'll drop it since I appear to be outnumbered, but this is textbook confirmation bias to me. The Dodgers could very well sign Bryce Harper- in fact, I'm more afraid of them doing so than I am the Phillies/Yankees- but this tweet is most likely nothing. Guys are right on something (such as Bour) all the time on Twitter by just tweeting a bunch of random rumors and then deleting the ones that end up being wrong. Same thing can happen on Reddit. Until someone legit, such as Rosenthal/Heyman/Morosi says something about this, it's just as meaningless as the tweets from similar accounts saying that Harper is leaning towards signing with us.

Maybe the peavy44 stuff, but the Tyler Hunt tweets and the one from the guy with 150k followers (forgot his name) were largely ignored compared to this one

I wouldn’t. It’s crazy that you guys are all buying some nobody on this because he was right about Justin Bour, yet when similar accounts with similar track records (i.e. being right about one thing one time) say that Harper is signing with the White Sox, they don’t even generate discussion.

It’s far more likely that he tweets this stuff daily and then deletes the ones that aren’t true
