  1. Going after Yelich last year means we're without Eloy++ right now, *maybe* Robert instead if we gave up better complementary pieces. I know Lewis Brinson has been awful, but in terms of prospect value, he was arguably in/near the Eloy tier last offseason. If you would've been okay with that, then that's fine, but don't think we could've gotten him for much less
  2. I think people are being way too dismissive of this, and it reminds me of the week leading up to the Dolphins game that we lost. Winning on the road is never a given.
  3. His elite speed is already in play at 2B, where he was near the top of the league in range stats
  4. I don't like the Bears in NY this week with Daniel. Giants have been much better as of late and the Bears offense was putrid with Daniel at the helm, something that was conveniently forgotten thanks to Eddie Jackson and Kyle Fuller. He really had trouble moving the ball down the field save for two drives. Giants are probably good for 17-24 points, even against our defense. I think we'll need a defensive TD to win.
  5. He actually said those were "common guesses", I think that sounds a little less like reporting new info than saying it's a "consensus"
  6. Maybe I'm biased but I think Tim Anderson is better than Russell going forward anyway. Similar defense (if mid-May through the end of 2018 was no fluke then Tim is the better defender), similar offense (Tim with more power), and Tim with the big edge in speed/baserunning.
  7. If you already "know" this for a fact, why do you feel the need to post in these threads about Machado/Harper?
  8. Should’ve known people would be upset by this... there isn’t much reason for us to spend 23 million or more for one year of a 1B/DH unless we really do land one of Machado/Harper
  9. Nice to see that the Bulls and Blackhawks have decided to give their old teams to the Timerwolves and Coyotes
  10. True, but if Trubisky and the Bears keep playing like they are, I won't care at all about what we gave up to acquire him
  11. I heard Theo Epstein was very interested in him as well before finding out he doesn't play baseball
  12. For the Bulls? I'd say no. Seems like a total headcase who wouldn't accept coming off the bench (which is what happened in Philly, where he magically became severely injured soon after a demotion). No way I'd want to start him over Dunn/LaVine even if it would help the tank.
  13. I feel like the question could even be made more extreme: .925 OPS and 200 strikeouts or .700 OPS and 25 strikeouts in the same amount of PAs, and Twitter would still take the second guy.
  14. I’d take anything Vinnie Duber says with a grain of salt
  15. Agreed. I fully expected to lose one of the last two games, and since we beat Minnesota, I saw this as a probable loss. But there are just far too many playmakers on our defense for that to have happened.
  16. A team with great interior linemen is a touch matchup for him. Their rushing stats are misleading because teams have had more success against them running outside (with guys like Cohen), and before they acquired Damon Harrison.
  17. That’s true. But if he were as good as the Twitter guys are trying to say he is, he would have gotten a shot as a starter somewhere in the past decade. That’s my point.
  18. Yeah the measurement has room for error, but even with error, Robert’s time is *so much* better than anyone else’s in baseball that it could be legit.
  19. I agree with you, I don’t know how option B won that poll. People are so anti-strikeouts that they’re letting it outweigh practically every other metric.
  20. Yeah, there's a reason he's in his 30s and has 480 career passing yards. I think the Lions win this one. Hope I'm wrong.
  21. You said the same thing about Abreu in June, and claimed that Greg Bird was a better hitter, and then Abreu went on a tear (positive regression to the mean) before his injury issues
  22. Uh-oh, Madrigal fans aren't gonna like this guy.
