  1. QUOTE (mataipaepae @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) Yeah but Basabe comes in very similar to Robles. And you add Moncada who probably ends up at 3rd. And Kooech with a big arm. I also prefer the Boston package but the bolded segment is very debatable.
  2. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) Take it with a massive grain of salt but a guy on a football message board that broke the news of the Thornburg trade 18 hours before it happened is saying he has a source that says the Red Sox are making a push for Sale with Moncada/Kopech/Basabe. http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/view...144406#21144406 Good find. Thank you. Moncada, Kopech, Basabe is a good start. Throw in one of Groome/Rodriguez, and Swihart. Or none of those 3 and Devers.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:03 AM) I do agree with others that we need to let go of the Shelby Miller thing. But at the same time, if you're the White Sox and you're trading Chris Sale, you just can't settle. Either you get your guy (Turner) or you hold on to Sale/trade him elsewhere. Someone will bite eventually. If they don't (unlikely), then we have a HOF-caliber pitcher on our team.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:09 PM) Yeah, Abreu had a fine season and I think he has worth, but not as much as 2014 Abreu or 2015 Abreu. Then you might get Rodgers. Fair enough. I do think WAR and Sabermetrics like it tend to underrate players of Abreu's mold- the .290-.300/25-35/100 type with below average defense.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:09 PM) Just remembered to turn on MLB network. Complete media overload. I think it's a rerun
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:01 PM) After Abreu's season, yeah. I agree that we can't get Rodgers, but Abreu had a fine season. Huge bounce back in the 2nd half.
  7. Patrick SaundersVerified account ‏@psaundersdp Interesting. @harding_at_mlb writes that #Rockies and #Whitesox have had preliminary talks about 1B Jose Abreu: http://m.rockies.mlb.com/news/article/2103...-first-basemen/
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:40 PM) Urias is #1 pitching prospect in baseball. Fixed
  9. Bowden: The White Sox and Nationals are far down the road on a trade that will send Chris Sale to the Nationals in exchange for Lucas Giolito, Victor Robles and a low minor leaguer. Reynaldo Lopez and Koda Glover will not be in the proposed deal. The structure of the deal was first reported by Ken Rosenthal.
  10. If that's true, this is a depressing night. edit- Bowden's report

  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) Rabbit alluded to this on twitter but what I most regret about it veering away from Red Sox were the devers/kopech/Rodriguez pieces that made it a strong deal up and down. Excited about severino/ etc but much less so. Severino really isn't a good prospect. Better than what we have, sure, but not exciting
  13. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:39 PM) This was from Rosenthal. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) Jayson Stark ‏@jaysonst 26s27 seconds ago Jayson Stark Retweeted Daryl Van Schouwen Surveyed several teams that are in on Sale this afternoon. They don't expect him to get moved at the meetings. The price hasn't dropped.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) To be fair, after the way the Nationals screwed the Sox at the deadline a few years ago, I don't think they feel bad using Rizzo. I forgot, how did they screw us
  15. What's the deal with Severino? I know he's 22 but his offensive numbers are pretty bad
  16. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) Strikeouts are cool. But so are position players. Which are exactly what we cannot develop on our own. Therefore we need to trade for them
  17. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) Also, without seeing entire offer, hard to say this would be settling. The headliners are strong and plausible with a system capable of a full trade with good depth, its why the Nats are a very good team to be working right now to both finalize a deal and spark a bidding war. But if we want Turner, we should be able to get him. Sale's value is too high for us to not be able to get our top target.
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:38 PM) This is a leverage play. How so
  19. I don't get why we're settling. We should have the leverage.
