The domino that could catapult the white sox into a fire sale
Jose Abreu replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 07:02 PM) we get more coverage in NYC than in Chicago. We really do. It's funny at this point -
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) He was arguing that taking on Heyward's contract would improve the return. Then that doesn't make sense, because Sale and Eaton together would already need Schwarber, Baez, Soler, Almora, Edwards, etc. No need to add Heyward.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) If the rebuild works, they will come back. And I tend to think the season ticket holders we currently have are loyal enough to stick around through a rebuild if they've been loyal to this point. I'm sure most season ticket holders would appreciate an actual direction, which could be a rebuild. Then again, attendance doesn't really matter anymore when it comes to team revenue. It's really just a tired Cubs fan defensive narrative. It's pointless.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) Who is arguing otherwise? Whoever suggested Sale and Eaton for Heyward and two prospects doesn't seem to understand the value of Eaton... or Sale.... or both. Both in a package would warrant an absolute monstrous return.
-
Eaton > Heyward... easily.
-
IMO, Boston, Texas, Houston, Dodgers, Cubs, Braves, Yankees are the only teams that could offer a good package for either Sale or Q. And some of those would really need to sell their farms.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 04:48 PM) Except one of the last things Robin did was announced that Saladino has a herniated disc in his lower back that did not respond as well as they hoped to treatment. Right now having no additional info I don't even know if he can play in 2017. Mark You think it's that serious?

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) I think a Trout for elite pitching swap makes a lot of sense for both teams. Not sure if they would have reservations about dealing a fan favorite. If we could add an Encarnacion or Cespedes and a catcher in a trade for Lawrie we could start Saladino at 2B, LF/DH Melky and have all the lineup holes covered. That would be a top 2-3 offense on paper playing in the USCF bandbox for half the season. ... with one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball

Potential + Effects of the World Series?
Jose Abreu replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Option A: Sign Cespedes, acquire a dominant reliever, enjoy payoff Option B: SELL -
QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 12:19 AM) That damned go Cubs go song pisses me off so much ? I've heard it 900 times this week and I can't avoid it. It's the worst

Guaranteed Rate Field official at Midnight
Jose Abreu replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I read somewhere that Wintrust proposed "Wintrust Field at Comiskey Park" for the same amount of money. So I don't think GR was the only offer -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) The new ballpark logo is what what thought it is. http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/guara...lFlowFB_CHBrand My favorite part is the "Field" being a different font than "Guaranteed Rate". Looks awful.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Oct 31, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) I ended up getting a PS4. Are there any games you guys recommend besides The Show and Madden? I typically like sports games, but am open to anything. Is there a good auto racing game? I'd like to play with my dad. NBA 2K, NHL (if you like hockey, I don't think you do but I'm not sure), Battlefield 1 (incredible so far), GTA V (must-have and probably cheap now too)

QUOTE (juddling @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 07:54 AM) I love how mentally fragile some of my Cub fan friends can be...... After last night's game I posted on FB "Don't worry my Cub fan friends....i remember back in 2005 when the Sox were down to the 'stros 2 games to 1 when they......oh wait.....Sox SWEPT when they went to the Series......" couple of my friends really went nuts........lol....haven't been called a douchebag in 10 years.....haha That in itself is quite the accomplishment

I watched the game at work (restaurant) and business was very slow. Only 6 people were there in the 9th inning, all Cubs fans watching the game. Needless to say, it was fun. Especially because one of them kept referring to pitchers as "throwers".
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) More than one guy at an OF position can win. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 02:23 PM) Nope. That used to be the case but not anymore. I see. Then why announce it as 3 LF/CF/RF and only put out press releases of the 3 at each position competing against each other? Why not just announce it as 9 outfielders?
-
Hope it goes to Eaton, predict it goes to Betts.
-
Please no to Jason Castro. There are better options out there. Give me Hundley or Kurt Suzuki (assuming Ramos/Wieters are gone)
-
So Cespedes is actually opting out. Eaton Cabrera Abreu Cespedes Frazier DH Anderson Saladino/Lawrie C #ALLIN

QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Oct 26, 2016 -> 06:36 AM) Cubs columnists were complaining about balls/strikes in 2nd inning of game 1 on Twitter. Better never hear them whine about Harrellson again What's funny is that it was pretty consistent both ways. They would've lost no matter what the zone was yesterday.

Let's just take a moment to appreciate...

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 05:28 PM) The poor 1998 Chicago Fire will forever be disrespected No love for the 1981 and 1984 Chicago Sting? -
https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/790955004635086849 Just funny, given that the Sox Twitter account is always professional and stays out of controversy. But here they are taking a direct shot at last night's ESPN graphic.
