  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) RV brings in DR give him a chance to finish......................can't wait for RV to be gone. He had 108 pitches
  2. Granted, Fernandez is already up there but he was still improving
  3. Very tragic. I bet Jose Fernandez and Oscar Taveras would have been two of the best players in the game 5 years from now.
  4. Apparently he'll be visiting his family in Cuba shortly after the season, too
  5. Signing Josh Reddick as our big ticket FA move would be so White Sox.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 10:41 PM) I'm not sure what you're arguing. I don't want to waste $5M on Brett Lawrie. Whether we're rebuilding or going for it, I'd rather start Saladino. If we were to go for it, I sure as s*** wouldn't waste $5M on a 2B when we have gaping holes in CF, DH, & C. And quite frankly, we're not going to be legit contenders next year if we don't sign one of those guys I mentioned in my previous post (among other moves). I'm not suggesting that's going to happen, but am implying that's what it's going to take to turn this team into a winner. Again, wasting a chunk of our limited financial flexibility on a position of low need would be incredibly foolish. What part of my argument do you disagree with exactly? I don't disagree with anything you said in this post. I was just saying that the odds of us landing one of Cespedes/Encarnacion/Trumbo are extremely slim. Boston or New York or someone will pay them the world.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 09:53 PM) Cespedes, Encarnacion, Bautista, Trumbo, Fowler, Desmond, & Reddick. You're dreaming if you think we get any of those guys. Cespedes will stay with NYM, Encarnacion will sign some outrageously large contract, Trumbo too... Sure maybe we'll get Bautista/Reddick as consolations but it's not like they're that good anymore regardless
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 08:56 PM) So I take it you're all for rebuilding then? How do you expect this team to get better if you don't plan on signing any free agents? BTW, there are several DH/OF types that could help us next year. If we decide to "go for it" I'd rather commit my resources to one of them than Lawrie when we have a cheap in-house option place for 2B. Uh... who?
  9. Yeah, Rodon needs to be on a pitch limit. 90 MPH fastball Rodon is way worse than 98 MPH fastball Rodon.
  10. In fact, aside from the ATL start, Sale would have a 2.76 ERA
  11. Sale's start against Atlanta really ruined things for him
  12. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) Rollins had the job the second he signed. He was going to start unless he died on the field in Arizona. Exactly. That's why I was so annoyed by the signing. If we were really going for it, we wouldn't be starting a declining 37 year-old SS who doesn't provide anything above average aside from leadership skills.
  13. This dude can hit. I want him starting next year. Lawrie can be traded
  14. That was a really fun game. Herrera woke us up with that pitch to Frazier
  15. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 10:16 AM) Thankfully it wasn't for a whole lot of moolah, but yeah, he was done. It's too bad, I wanted him to succeed, he just didn't have anything left. You're right, and I did too. It's just, at the time, I was mad that we're going "all in" but signing a washed up, declining guy available in March to start at shortstop. I mean, the "all in" phase was half-assed to begin with, but this was the icing on the cake
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 16, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) He did but Tyler outperformed him. I don't think Tyler is a starting shortstop at the major league level but I don't think it's fair to say he was given a legit shot in spring training, Rollins was definitely the guy they wanted to go with. Agreed. We didn't sign Rollins to bench him. Man does that signing annoy me, still.
