  1. Damn, I like this. Sister goes there, parents went there... who knows, maybe in a year, I'll be going there too (if I'm lucky enough to get in, of course). Nice to hear that they're no-nonsense when it comes to this stuff. I'm annoyed when I hear of speakers who are denied speech at campuses due to kids disagreeing with them. If you don't want to hear what they have to say, don't go. edit- last couple sentences were referencing cancelled voluntary open speeches, not the smaller in-class ones
  2. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 08:40 PM) Sarcasm, right? No- he's an okay hitter who plays average defense with plus speed. Basically just a vanilla player, but still better than some teams' 3rd outfielders. He was starting to hit better for us right before the injury
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 04:43 PM) Re-sign Jackson for 4th outfielder gig. I'm sure he'll get a starter role somewhere
  4. The downward facing arrow being put up in our ballpark, being cited as "good for pitchers' ERAs" bothers me more than the name.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) The Sox are getting $6.4 million out of this. THAT is what is important here. The name is secondary. I thought I read that, after inflation, the monetary value of the deal is identical to U.S. Cellular's
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) I've thought long and hard about this and have come to the conclusion that this is the worst stadium name ever. I seriously can't think of three words in the entire English language that sound as clunky as "Guaranteed Rate Park" when used together. I really hope there are plans for some serious ballpark upgrades, but it doesn't sound like the Sox get a lick of this money otherwise. Really not a good time to be a White Sox fan. ^
  7. And yes, the Brooks Boyer quote on the downward facing arrow being a positive ballpark sign because it references pitcher ERA's is actually real.
  8. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 06:37 PM) Sox hit #1 in America on twitter trends today. That's like the most relevant we've ever been. FWIW, we were also #1 when Sale cut up those jerseys
  9. Brooks Boyer: "The arrow pointing down is very good for pitchers' ERAs. We’re working on creating logos for the facility.''
  10. "Yo, let's hit up The Rate tonight for the Sox game..." Kinda has a ring to it? No?
  11. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) You know what would be pretty cool at this point? If everyone who said Abreu was "finished" and that MLB pitching had "figured him out" owned up and said they were wrong not that it will happen that way Lmao, that was basically all the ron accounts. Like, 3 different accounts which start out with "ron" started 6-8 anti-Abreu threads, including this one
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 01:38 PM) Semien with a lot of praise for Buddy Bell and the White Sox developmental team http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/08/21/lev...sox-upbringing/ *sees "Simeien" in the article* *checks to make sure it was written by Bruce Levine*
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 05:54 PM) Source? Did he pass through waivers without a claim? He has $14 million left on his contract the next two years...and even one arbitration year, and no team will take that on? http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2016/08/22/the-do...ve-had-no-luck/ Not sure if he went unclaimed
  14. Dodgers trying to "give away" Puig but nobody wants him. He's hitting over .400 in AAA and was over .300 in his last 30 MLB games
  15. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 20, 2016 -> 07:27 PM) Melky is having a great year. Last year was an extremely unlucky season and he was still adequate. I'm glad he's producing more now.
  16. I for one am excited for 2017 Lawrie. We've seen his potential, he's better at taking walks, and I think we could see a 25-homer season from him if he stays healthy
  17. We've played more games against +.500 teams than anyone in baseball. Series like these are where we would have needed to take advantage
  18. Why we didn't trade Shields in a huge seller's market when he had some value after a good run is beyond me
  19. I really am not too hot on the Hawks this year. Vesey would've helped a lot, but I mean, outside of Toews/Kane/Panarin/Anisimov/Kruger/Hossa, you have 6 guys in Panik, Motte, Schmaltz, Desjardins, Hartman, and your other center (Tootoo or Rasmussen) who are either not going to produce much or are unknowns.
