Why not both? My main concern is that allowing for loopholes where the super wealthy get to avoid prison time, while non-violent offenders remain locked up, is just very inconsistent and unfair to the latter

I couldn't disagree more. Without consequences, it's very likely (IMO) that they will try again. Especially when it comes to white collar crime like this

I can't believe this is still a thing. This thread, which was once a refuge from the craziness and conspiracies on basically any other public forum, has gotten hard to read ever since more people started taking Greg's bait and the False Equivalence Army came out of the woodwork... but even then, I can't believe that the latter is still arguing for that drug even after it was revealed weeks ago that the whole thing was just another profit scheme masquerading as health care (obviously, in addition to the drug not even working)

If Illinois indeed moves to Phase 3 at the end of the month, how (if applicable) would the rest of you Illinoisans change your behaviors? For example, I haven't seen my grandparents (all 4 of which are healthy and live nearby) in-person since early March. They are all high-risk due to both age and things like diabetes, past cancer treatments, etc, and I'm not sure if it would be appropriate to see them even once restrictions are eased

The Players Union has no reason to believe that this would be true. Same goes for the claim that the owners would be "operating at a loss". Until they can back up their claims with evidence, it's all meaningless. And personally, I have a hard time believing that concessions + ticket sales account for half of teams' revenue in 2020

The KKK was even framed as an "innocent, fun social club" much like these groups often are. The similarities between the rhetoric and (early) purpose of the KKK and these militia groups are quite striking, and this is coming from someone who has studied/is studying the late-19th century rise of the KKK. Of course, this doesn't mean that these militia groups will turn into it, but I can't say it doesn't scare me.

I don't agree that this is the biggest crisis in American history, but by the time it's all said and done (including a second wave), it's not hard to see more Americans dying from COVID-19 than in the wars you mentioned. Especially if the country re-opens prematurely, which seems likely. Moreover, I'm surprised you only mentioned wars. I think a better example would've been African-American slavery, even if it wasn't a single "moment", but I guess it depends on how you interpret the question.

Sorry, I was referring to February polls, before Super Tuesday and before it was clear Biden would be the nominee. There was a point when Sanders was not only winning in delegates, but leading the polls in terms of being the best candidate to beat Trump. I believe Sanders himself cited this in one of the debates, and the fact checks verified it
