  1. I read somewhere that the latest proposal might have a 30 man roster, but it will definitely be >25
  2. 16 playoff teams long-term may seem like a stretch (I prefer 12 or 14) but in a way, it could actually incentivize mediocre teams (hello 2015-2016 White Sox) to compete rather than rebuild. In doing so, perhaps parity increases along with quality of regular season games since fewer teams are actively trying to lose. This would be different from the NBA since being a 7-8 seed in the NBA playoffs is usually a guaranteed first round exit, whereas in baseball, there's much more room for flukes.
  3. I'd go as far to say that in the exact circumstances of a ~60 game season, 16 playoff teams, and all games being played against a team's own division + the corresponding division of the other league, the White Sox have a >50% chance at making the playoffs. FWIW I had them as an 83-86 win team this year in a normal season (with plenty of potential for variance)
  4. I looked into it, one of his from the last page came from some far right blog. The blogger did cite correct data, but used it in an intentionally misleading way to make it seem like Sweden is doing a much better job than in reality. It’s probably safe to assume that the rest of the graphs and charts being shared have been similarly arranged
  5. I went downtown yesterday and today (first time in months) to work, took the train, and each ride, I either had a full train car to myself or there was one other person who sat way on the other side. And everyone is wearing masks too. I've been pleasantly surprised Thanks for sharing as I was thinking about going there on an upcoming weekend during a busy time but probably won't anymore
  6. I remember learning how the unemployment rate is calculated in high school econ and being amazed that the majority of Americans seem to think the figure has real value.
  7. Did he say 90s? I haven't gotten a chance to watch yet but I remember finding what I thought was one of the most random tweets of all-time a few years ago: I didn't realize there was more to it.
  8. Interesting lists. I'll go: 1. Robert 2. Vaughn 3. Kopech 4. Kelley 5. Madrigal 6. Crochet 7. Dunning 8. Stiever 9. Collins 10. Thompson/Dalquist/Vera
  9. Yes it was me. I got a haircut today and have been slightly more comfortable doing things like quickly entering restaurants to pick up food (with a mask. staying apart from others, without directly touching doors, etc), but that's it
  10. Wasn’t Blaze Jordan supposed to be long gone by now?
  11. And FWIW Not Cishek is saying they got him (Crochet) under slot
  12. Should take Detmers Will take Detmers Would also be happy with Abel or Howard, among most of the other HS guys. I just really don't want Crochet

If you ever need any proof that Greg is just trolling, this is the thread. "How could [racist viewpoint] be racist?? I heard it from [Candace Owens/Rush Limbaugh/Donald Trump/Tucker Carlson]!" is admittedly an amusing bit

For those who were asking about this earlier, here’s a twitter thread with 163 and counting unnecessary acts of violence by the police against protestors that are largely being unreported in the news:
  15. Thanks!
  16. I ask this with no political agenda or motivation, but given how low the positive rates have been in IL for a couple weeks now, could one argue that we're opening too slowly? It almost feels like Phase 3 could've started a week or two ago, and at this rate, Phase 4 should be in the near future rather than in July/August
  17. Exactly. I wouldn't mind a Bailey pick but the conspicuous smoke around it tells me it probably won't be happening
  18. Other interesting quotes of his: https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/where-are-they-now-white-sox-alexei-ramirez
  19. In spite of my jab at her on the last page, I think Warren is the best option for the reasons you laid out. That said, I would prefer her to be at the top of the ticket and not Biden, but that’s obviously not happening
  20. To be fair, Warren is (in typical fashion) changing her views to align more with Biden's, so you never know
  21. Not disagreeing with the end of your sentence, but there's definitely something wrong with a white guy telling black people what does or doesn't make them black, especially when the guy was a segregationist
  22. Jose Abreu replied to knightni's topic in SLaM
Why not both? My main concern is that allowing for loopholes where the super wealthy get to avoid prison time, while non-violent offenders remain locked up, is just very inconsistent and unfair to the latter
  23. Jose Abreu replied to knightni's topic in SLaM
For someone who (including spouse) is worth $90 million, yes
  24. Jose Abreu replied to knightni's topic in SLaM
Yeah I should have clarified: either they would cheat for other people's kids, or other rich parents would feel comfortable doing the same for their kids since there weren't real punishments (in this example)
