  1. E'Twaun Moore to start tomorrow night over Brooks and Hinrich. Perhaps one of Thibodeau's biggest crimes last year was the lack of playing time for Moore. He's solid.
  2. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 05:47 PM) There's gotta be big moves on the horizon. Sox can't roll out Avi,Trayce,Saladino, Sanchez, Flowers, Alexei next year. Big expensive upgrades are coming. Everyone is saying this, but I don't know who we could realistically get without having to trade someone like Quintana, which would in turn (potentially) not make the move an upgrade. Sadly, the FA market is very unattractive overall this year, with the exception of starting pitchers, although we're pretty set there; our starting staff finished with the #1 fWAR in the AL.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 05:18 PM) I think I'm leaning toward the following "take it on the chin" line up for next year C - Flowers 1b - Abreu 2b - Micah SS - Carlos (still realistic?) 3b - Saladino/Olt OF - Melky OF - Eaton/Trayce OF - Avi/Trayce DH - LaRoche/Avi P- Sale P - Q P - Rodon P - EJ P - Danks It would be rough, but best case scenario you can pull a mets like season and go for it. Realistically it tops out at 78 wins. The next year Anderson is there, Fulmer is there, and you have another year of top ten trade talent. I don't think Hahn/KW will roll out this type of lineup because they don't want to waste more prime seasons from Abreu/Sale/Eaton/Quintana as self-admitted non-contenders.
  4. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 04:43 PM) Is he the progeria kid they had for some games this season when Hawk was out? yes
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 04:53 PM) All offseason we're going to hear anyone 30+ or anyone from the NL "would suck on the Sox." The season has been done for one day and I have already heard it multiple times. We have reason to believe it.
  6. Zobrist would suck on the Sox.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) All I can say is that I love me some Mark Buehrle. I hope he kicks some ass with the Jays in the post-season. Would be very sad if he isn't on the post-season roster. He isn't.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 02:31 PM) If he's healthy I'd take him back on a 2 year deal for #4/5 starter money without questioning it. Don't think his arm has two years left.
  9. I prefer the old version as well.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 12:23 PM) The Martian was solidly entertaining. I heard it was shockingly funny- is this true? "One of the funniest movies I've ever seen"
  11. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) Just head on the Score that CC Sabathia is going to rehab (alcohol) and will miss the playoffs. How the mighty have fallen
  12. I wish we hired the Red Sox announcer who is now joining the Padres broadcasting team.
  13. Was surprised to see Jose Quintana ranked as the #21 pitcher in baseball by B/R. Rodon was 77, Samardzija was 39 (??), and Sale was #5. Anyway, it's nice to see that Quintana is actually known by non-Sox fans now.
  14. Puig has to be the most overrated player in baseball.
  15. My guess is that he was strongly leaning towards retiring due to his arm soreness, but he doesn't want his last memory as a SP to be allowing 8 unearned runs in 0.2 innings pitched, so he may give it another year, or take a year off and come back for one season in 2017.
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 07:18 AM) Starlin Castro is somehow, someway going to make an absolutely terrible play and it'll cost the Cubs the game. That's my prediction. And the ball goes through Graffanino... er, Castro's, legs!
  17. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 08:02 PM) I'm just guessing here, but I believe it's because we kicked the Field Goal on a non-4th down play. If the kick had been blocked without passing the line of scrimmage, we'd get the ball back and potentially have time to kick another FG. 7 seconds could have run off during the kick and subsequent fight to recover the ball. But if we recovered with say 1 second left, it would be Bears ball still. And we could attempt another FG. Right, but if the kick were blocked and we recovered, there's a strong chance that we would lose 5-10 yards on the play, thus making it a 59-64 yard field goal. Which is why I still don't get why Fox didn't wait longer.
  18. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 08:47 PM) Definitely pulling for the Astros and Pirates. Seconded.
  19. The Dodgers fans/hosts valuing Puig over Quintana just shows you how underrated Quintana still is.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) Just won/lost records Wood was 164-156; mark is 214-159 to begin with. C'mon Greg, you should know better than this. W/L record means nothing. Chris Sale was 11-14 in 2013.
  21. QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 09:21 PM) what was saladinos walk up music The beat of I liked his older walk-up music, which was a Bleachers song.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 08:09 PM) By anybody's account, even in the era of participation trophies, this was a horrible season. It could be characterized by losing. They were one game over .500 on May 18. That's it for being over .500. Low water mark was 11 under. It was a pathetic season. I'd give the Sox a D as a grade for the season. Only good thing was their performance in extra inning games. My grades ... Abreu: A Sanchez C- (bad hitter) Micah - D. Lexi - C (.250 hitter, bad defense early). Olt - D. Gillaspie F. Saladino B- Melky C- Eaton B Avi C to C- Trayce - A Shuck - C to C- Beckham - D to D- Flowers - D Soto - C- Sale - A Quintana - A Rodon - B to A-minus Danks - B-minus Duke - D Petricka - D Nate - C Robertson - B-minus Shark - C-minus to D LaRoche - D to D-minus. Robin - F Hitting coach: F Pitching coach: C Worst player on team: LaRoche. Best player on the team: Abreu. Best pitcher on team: Sale. Worst pitcher on team: Duke. Agree with most of your rankings aside from Danks, but- Soto over Flowers? Geo was absolute trash during the 2nd half of the year. Saladino over Sanchez because Sanchez is a bad hitter? Saladino was even worse than Carlos at the plate, and FWIW, Sanchez had a much better 2nd half of hitting. Also, I'd give Shuck a B and Melky a B-.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 07:28 PM) Where is Davis going to play? Abreu is at first and LaRoche will be the DH. Technically, he plays 3B, LF, and RF, but his defense is probably abysmal there.
  24. Don't forget us wining the Crosstown Cup and Bryant finishing the season 0-6 with 6 strikeouts vs Sale.
  25. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) Ugh, Dickerson? My bad, he was hurt for most of the year so I forgot about him.
