  1. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) Noticed from a Facebook comment that the left sleeve shows two different patches: the front view has the script S-O-X, but the back has the sock diamond. I've always liked the diamond on the sleeve much better. Yes. The diamond is so much better than SOX on the sleeve. My favorite jersey is the '06 anniversary of the 1906 jerseys. I have a Thome one.
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 11:38 AM) At this point, I'd just roll with it if I were you. Might as well keep hope alive. Plus, it'll become ironic and funny at some point. I was really excited about the kid. It's a shame he's useless
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) I'm getting anxious. I'm afraid we are not going to get anyone. I can't deal with another Avi season. It's time I change my signature lol
  4. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:40 AM) Fowler makes much more sense than most people think. Having him at the top of the order in front of guys like Abreu & Frazier could be a very nice thing. Sox really struggled to get on a base & ultimately score runs. They've added some power & now add a OBP guy like Fowler & that should equate for much more runs than some people think. Is he the missing piece? Maybe not, but he'll sure help. I'll admit, I don't know much about him but his OBP is just what the top of this lineup needs.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:30 AM) This is the lineup I'd use too. LaRoche in the 7th spot takes a bit of pressure off of him. Get him in at first more often then last year to increase his value with his defense. I still hope we get a bat to platoon with him. Edit: oh yeah Avi (unless they deal him or send him to AAA. I left Avi off because I'm not sure what to do. Guess DH platoon but sucks to waste a roster spot on a guy who isn't good at any one thing.
  6. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) The question I have is are the Sox seemingly money strapped because they just flat out dont have the payroll flexibility for next year? Or do they have the flexibility but even they dont believe this team will be good to really be competitive by adding a costly piece? Just like their public approach to the off season when it started they still havent made up their mind of what they are for next year, have they? This team better have flexibility next season because Danks and LaRoche come off the books.
  7. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:20 AM) Agreed. At this point, I could see Fowler accepting a 3/40ish type of deal and that is not a huge investment for the upgrade he would provide. If you take Fowler's stats from last season and put him on the White Sox, he would of ranked 2nd on the team in home runs (17), 3rd on the team in OBP (.346), and far and away the leader in walks (84). His OBP was a tick below Abreu's, who was at .347 last year and he had 26 more walks than Eaton, who led the Sox in that category in 2015. I don't know what his 2 hole numbers have been but that's where I'd put him tentatively: Eaton Fowler Abreu Frazier Melky Lawrie LaRoche Navila Saladino
  8. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) Sale is a LOCK to leave when his contract is over. The Sox will never pay him what he'll be worth. I'm just enjoying him now, because I know he'll be gone in a few years. Especially if we don't win asap.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 07:18 AM) 3 of the last 4 years Fowler has put up a better WAR than CarGo. Including CarGo's 40 homer season in 2015. I'm all for Fowler because OBP. That's a lacking area on this team. Fowler does strike out some but he'd be a solid addition if we could and I'd imagine it wouldn't be a big deal. 3-4 years $36-48 million?
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 05:47 PM) Unless it was a short and cheap deal, I would put it at 0. I honestly think he could sign a one year deal with maybe an option or something along those lines. How long does he have to wait to sign til so the draft pick isn't attached?
  11. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) I think there is zero chance the Sox sign Desmond, which is fine by me btw. I wouldn't put it at 0. Not sure what I'd put it at but maybe Rabbit can chime in.
  12. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 04:48 PM) The Kennedy contract has future albatross written all over it. If Kennedy doesn't pitch up to expectations and decides not to opt-out, the Royals will be stuck like pigs. Like the are with infante for one more year.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 09:52 PM) Latos is a clubhouse cancer Proof?
  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 02:42 PM) Lorenzo Cain led all CF in errors last year, and his total was 30% higher than the next guy too. Ian Kinsler is among the leaders in errors at 2B every year. Josh Donaldson has the most errors of any 3B over the last 3 years. Errors need context. Sometimes you take the good with the bad. Like Abreu. His defense isn't stellar.
  15. Mets absolutely is the best rotation. I like our top 3. 4 & 5 are meh. If feel a lot better if we had another mid to top tier arm or if Fulmer was ready.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) Will just state that there's no way that Desmond will end up under $10 million IMO... Would definitely put him in the $13-17 million range. From 2012-2014, he was a consistent 3.5 war guy, which is about where everyone assumed Cespedes would be THIS season. 3.5 X $7-8 million value for WAR on FA market=$26.25 million. Even if you go with last year's terribly disappointing year, you're talking $14 million and change valuing him at a 2 WAR. Plus he plays a premium position in SS. And is only 30. Ya I'm not sure what he's going to get. I know it'll be way more than Alexei. I'm to the point where I want Desmond for his potential over Saladino but I can accept if they don't sign him. As of now, I'm hoping for Desmond and Jackson.
  17. I'd sign Desmond to a one year deal with an option for a second. He doesn't have a ton of interest and it's getting close to spring training. He will sign some kind of prove it deal. Doesn't mean it's going to be a one year $4 million deal but I could see it anywhere from 8-13 million on one year. That would give Anderson another year to develop and not rush things. Desmond's potential bat could give us a formidable hitting infield. That could be big time power potential infield. Abreu, Frazier, Desmond and Lawrie.
  18. They'll add an OFer before camp. Who? I don't know. I like some of the options. I'd add someone via trade and sign a guy like Austin Jackson to a one year deal. I'm done with Avi. Jackson would at least bring a really good defensive addition. I like shuck as the 4th. I like CarGo for the fact he has the big pop we need but his decline is concerning. Ozuna costs a lot but he's intriguing. Incarte (if that's how it's spelled forgive me) is intriguing as well.
  19. @JonHeyman Not many players would eschew a 5-year deal for 3. Is cespedes the 1 quirky enough to do it? We may know soon. #nats #mets Seems like the Sox are out to me.
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) Jeez. Last offsesason it was Eminor and I vs. You, chitownsportsfan and Rock Raines on Avi. Then I would go to war with Dick Allen saying Gordon Beckham sucks too. People are all like "I just want the offseason to be over" but the alternative isn't great, hah. I was a big Avi supporter and it's completely fizzled. s*** happens I guess. I'm just glad the trade has helped us acquire vets at least. As for alternatives, ya it's not great.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 09:01 AM) The mystery team is an ass covering trick all these guys use. When is a "mystery team" not involved? Unless it is a slam dunk they are going some place, they say mystery team so if they go somewhere else, that was the mystery team even though there may have been 4 or 5 mystery teams, and some of the information they reported was a mystery to those involved. Yup. Gota love that old mystery team
  22. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 08:54 AM) If you notice this guy post his tweets right after a national writers does Exactly. 2 days ago he said the white sox were the favorite. He thinks he's clever but he's not.
  23. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 08:40 AM) This guy is all over the place Mibelt Rodriguez ‏@MibeltRodriguez 15m15 minutes ago Update: Yoenis Céspedes likely to sign a 3 years deal with the #Mets, which will have an Opt-out. A decision is expected before Sunday. He's just regurgitating what the national media says and puts his spin on it. He also makes s*** up
