White Sox interested in SS Ian Desmond

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 09:58 PM) Nightingale is not nearly as connected to the Sox FO right now as some have suggested. Anything to add on this Desmond/Fowler situation? -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) Bob Nnightengale on MLB Network just said that the White Sox are out of cash. I find this hard to believe. Lol yah ok Bob. -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 10:39 AM) Isn't Lawrie just here for one year? Anderson would play 2B in 2017. I don't think he'll be good enough defensively as a SS. What makes you say that? I'm not sure he will be but he's improving a lot. -

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 12, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) You make some very good points. The way I se it is, if I'm OK with Frazier's hot start in '15 and his second half collapse, then I'm fine with Desmond's first half collapse and second half rebound. Adding Desmond wouldnt be the worst move the Sox could make. I'd take the gamble. Exactly. We'd be signing him to shorter and lower $$ deal. Not like giving him 5/75 or anything. -

If this happens, I love it because we could have one helluva powerful infield. -
QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 10:14 AM) This makes my head hurt. Lol typing on my phone sorry. My condolences to your head.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) While I am an advocate of getting Fowler/Desmond cheap, imagine what 3 top 47 picks and an influx of international talent from going over the pool could do to the system. They have to replace Fulmer/Anderson... I'm very excited about that possibility. -
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) I thought this was funny: dbet: Could Justin Turner and Ryu get Chris Sale? 12:55 Dave Cameron: Yes. You could have one be the driver and the other be the kidnapper, and combined, they could put him in a van and bring him to Glendale. I think the White Sox would call the police, though. that's great!

QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 10, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) I'd love it if they could put Danks in the bullpen. If EJ is struggling with command early, they can just pull the plug before it gets ugly and let Danks go up against a lineup situated to face a righty. I hate to look at the Danks/Johnson thing from as asset point of view but they can make Johnson a good piece moving forward. If he's an acceptable 4/5 then you have a good, cost-effective arm who's pre arb. If you let him toil away in Charlotte then you're eating at his value as marketable asset. Danks is what he is. He's not sexy and he's gone after '16. Give Johnson the shot he deserves and if it doesn't work you have Danks. The interesting thing is they have too much depth in the bullpen: 1.) Robertson 2.) Duke 3.) Jennings 4.) Jones 5.) Putnam 6.) Petricka 7.) Albers So Danks/Johnson, Turner, Webb and Kahnle are all going somewhere other than Chicago if there's no injuries. Danks isn't going to the minors. Johnson's value is hurt if he goes to the minors. Turner has to clear waivers to go to the minors. Webb belongs in the minors. Kanhle is somewhat intriguing but seems to be too far down the list. Nice to have depth like this I guess. It's absolutely nice to have depth. Can never have too much. It's not a stacked pen with great arms but it's solid and definitely not bare. I want to like this team, I really do. I just can't get excited and have to temper expectations until they show me something for a whole season and not short spurts. This team needs to start off fast.
-
So, someone really doesn't like this move? I'm curious as to why they don't. Before they say, "well he's a bad clubhouse guy." This team sucks. It's not like they're close to a World Series run.
-
Love this move also. It's one year and only 3 million. Now let's add an OF bat.

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 8, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) When you're hoping for 7 pretty important players to rebound...you aren't a very good team. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/163...-in-2016-season And one won't really rebound due to his age probably and that's LaDunn. He just needs to be a bag of dicks. I'm pretty sure Melky will be better. -
He'd at least bring some excitement to the fan base.
-
As it stands now, this is a fourth place squad. We'll see what they do by the end of spring training. Starters need to play a lot more and get some continuity going.
-
I remember when Merkin did a story on Frazier a few days before it happened. It seemed odd at the time. Something has to give.
-
Any day now well land one. My guess is Fowler.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 4, 2016 -> 12:10 AM) Am I crazy or did you post this in three different threads. Echo...echo.....echo

How is Fowler in CF?
-
Funny how Shark bets on himself and has a horrendous year and still lands a $90 mil contract.
-
I'd be stunned if Anderson doesn't start at AAA. I expect Saladino to start the year at SS. How he does over the course of the beginning of the season and Tim does as AAA will determine the position late in the season.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) Spending less than 10 million in free agency is inexcusable I'm never the one that gets bent out of shape for not signing someone to a $200 million contract but only signing Avila and Navarro is sad. If they are hell bent on Garcia starting now then I'm done with Hahn. They can't be this naive. I hate being this in between and wasting prime years of our core.

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 04:49 PM) I've already made my mind up, if they don't make any more moves to improve this team before opening day, I won't pay for the MLB package. Not going to sit through another frustrating season that could have been prevented, or at least had a lot of a chance to be prevented. Same here. They'll only be improved some after only trading for a couple players. Not spending is ridiculous.

LOL those responses..

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) WSI is about 95% moaners. Don't want to derail this thread, but complaining is what they do best. No playoffs in 8 seasons will do that to people?
