If I were OKC, I'd move him this summer for the best package I could get. Team like Boston or Minnesota should be all over it.

Watching the Tigers Indians game. Thank god Upton didn't want to come here. I didn't want him either so obviously wasn't a fan of that deal for Detroit.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 08:33 PM) Isn't that what I said ? But I also said in a World Series either Melky or Reddick or Ajax goes to the bench in games without the DH and Eaton goes to CF. Would hate moving Eaton to CF after having him play a premier RF all year. Anyway, I mentioned Peralta because if he is a decent CF he could move Ajax to 4th OFer against righties and he is a good LH bat if his injuries are behind him and he is ultimately more obtainable over guys like Beltran and Bruce both of whom would not be ideal to stick in the OF. Much prefer a LH younger athletic type OF with decent pop who could turn Jackson into a late inning OF replacemrnt which we have lacked all year . Maybe Peralta turns out to be a 1 year wonder but he still crushes righties. I just have no idea how good he is in CF but he's gotta be a better OF than either Beltran or Bruce and Eaton then stays in RF. I'm sorry you did. I thought Jackson wasn't in there my bad.

I hope Gurerro can be half as good as his uncle. -
I want to believe the Bulls have a chance at Russ but I know they don't. They never land a big fish.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) The Sox front office has to look beyond just making the playoffs since adding a DH only bat will hurt in a World Series. That's why I mention Reddick even if it means having to move Eaton back to CF . Melky would still have to play left in a World Series but can DH during the rest of the season if the Sox want to go with an OF of Reddick Ajax and Eaton . Or they can go after LuCroy . Both probably get snatched up by teams with better packages to but those guys are best case scenario for the Sox having a chance beyond just making the playoffs. Someone like David Peralta of the D'Backs would be great to platoon with Ajax since he kills righties and is having a down year after his breakout year in 2015. He will be coming off the DL soon after back problems have limited his playing time. He's 28 and only had one good year so he's cheap but a bit older . He has played some CF just not sure how much speed he has or how good he is there or in the corners where he mostly plays. Maybe the D'Backs make him available. He has decent LH pop. Ajax can then become the late inning defensive OF we need desperately. What about Reddick to LF and Melky DH? That is if Morneau isn't tearing the cover off the ball. Reddick has been the guy for me since April.

Do you believe the Sox will make the playoffs in 2016?

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 06:50 PM) Beane gets a comp pick if he holds onto him, so I don't think a package built around Adams is a bad alternative. All depends on how many bats are available on the market. There'll be enough to choose fro, but the sox are gona have to part with at least Adams maybe Fumler depending on the bat. If I have to give up Fulmer, I'd rather do it for a guy like Myers because you control him through 2019. -
Sox should try and sign Holland for next season.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 06:05 PM) Let's not forget they can pick up players in that August waiver wire period as well... Although the big DH/OF bats on the market like Bruce, Reddick, possibly Beltran, possibly Cargo, etc., are likely to move now. CoCo Crisp would be a nice veteran to have on the bench, but Austin Jackson will get the first shot to prove he's back before they make that kind of a bench/depth move. But he's used to the AL Central wars, that's the kind of player who is helpful in August/September. Oh I agree. But we cannot stand pat this season considering this is year 2 of 3. Last year sucked but I understood it. Trading Anderson for someone would've been awful. Reddick has been the guy I wanted. Wonder about a Reddick and Rzcepczynski package. -
We got our use out of Latos and Rollins. Latos hot start helped and Rollins contributed to some wins and held down the fort til Anderson was ready.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 06:13 PM) Bruce has been cooling down a bit recently (he's still at an 854 OPS) and he's terrible defensively in RF, so he should only be targeted by AL teams looking for a DH. That lowers his market significantly. The Rangers could use an improvement on Cecil Fielder, but they're pretty much stuck with that contract. Also not sure about Josh Hamilton's status. KC is looking for another OF with pop. Morales has really come around the last month and has been their best hitter. Boston, Toronto, Detroit and Cleveland are set at DH. Houston might be looking for another bat as well, especially if AJ Reed doesn't stick. http://www.espn.com/mlb/stats/batting?posi...S&minpa=150 Plus, Beltran can play RF/LF much more passably. Even CF, in a pinch. I brought up Beltran in April. Wonder what his price would be? They're not moving Miller but Betances would be a dream. Would have to give up a lot for Betances and Beltran that's IF they'd move him. Chapman is there too. He's a FA so it's a realistic rental. Imagine a Jones, Robertson, Chapman pen or Jones, Robertson and Chapman. Not sure what the packages would be for either. Ideally you'd love to get a package of Beltran and one of those big arms. Kill two birds with one stone (pen arm and LHB).

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 05:52 PM) Avi needs to be gone, a 650 OPS at DH is embarrassing, it would be pretty bad for a middle infielder even. Second point, that LaRoche money is free and HAS to be spent, at least for the remainder of this season. If they find the right fit for a player whose deal goes through 2017, great, because the offseason FA market is crap and will force more overpays. Finally, you're probably right about the Sox not wanting to give up top talent for a veteran RH reliever. They'll monitor Burdi, Danish, Jordan Stephens, Alec Hansen (that's a very low probability event) and Fulmer and hopefully one or two of those guys really click in the next month or so. Maybe, just maybe, Ynoa takes the next step but that's asking for a lot. Albers is almost at the end of his rope. His last 20 or so appearances have been terrible, and Ventura pulled him after just one batter today. His patience is now at zero to turn things around for Matty. I think we see a pen trade soon. Then the bat not far behind -

It all depends on what Hahn does from now until August 1. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 05:58 PM) Beltran would seem to be more likely. Or Bruce. Knocking the Yankees back would be helpful to their own chances of picking from their roster. The Yankees just aren't getting a cohesive attack from that combination of all those veteran hitters in the middle of their order. And their starting pitching after CC and Tanaka has been a complete mess. Eovaldi, with all his talent, is close to being banished to the bullpen. Pineda might belong there as well. If one or both of those elements (middle of order/starting pitching 3-5) don't come together soon, they'll have to sell. We're not getting Bruce. We couldn't get a deal done for Frazier with Cincy alone. Not sure they like our prospects. Maybe Rabbit can shed a little light on it.
-
I'm so happy we kept him and didn't move him for CarGo or Cespedes last season. Kid is going to be a star. Now can Hahn fill in the piece around Sale, Q, Rodon, Anderson, Eaton and Abreu? Frazier is heating up and Lawries been a fine addition. Shields is pitching ok now in three consecutive starts. Gonzalez has been solid. Bullpen has been ok with the exception of injuries and inconsistency. We'll see how Morneau does. I'm a lot more optimistic than I was two weeks ago. They're scoring runs, playing good defense and pitching well. Reinforcements are on the way. I know I've been banging the sell drum but I like winning better. I just don't know if we have enough to get the couple players we need. But I love watching Anderson on a daily basis. He's a breath of fresh air considering this organizations inability to develop hitters.

Get a W tomorrow and it's 5 straight series wins Good outing from James again Timmy is special. That was a BOMB Frazier heating up Abreu driving in a run Pen locking it down (Albers will be gone soon)
