  1. I'm born&raised and I always loved the stuff. Maybe once a month? The thing about it is it will kill you.
  2. I think no matter what you get a look at the MLB team before calling Rodon up. If they're playing very well in May/June and could use the help I say you have no choice but at least use him in a bullpen role.
  3. I did not know about the spinal tumors (SPINAL TUMORS) until today. My initial apprehension about the guy was that 2014 was classic playing up for a contract year, I'm less worried about that now.
  4. I won't go that far. If Jetty Sandusky was a pitching coach for the White Sox and all that went into protecting him at Penn St similarly had happened in the Sox hypothetical I would have a lot of trouble supporting the team until everyone involved (ownership on down) was gone.
  5. I'm saying he could be. So could anyone. Frank could've been lying the whole time about his stand against steroids. Jermaine Dye, Contreras, Jon Garland... it's all possible. You can no easier disprove it than someone else could prove it. Plenty of guys who roided are pretty good guys, does anyone really have anything that bad to say about Mike Cameron (maybe there's something I don't know he did off the field) or even Manny Ramirez (who was a little goofy and a bit childlike but not a bad person)? I haven't heard of Melky Cabrera engaging in anything that actually harmed another person. Brett Myers name has already been brought up, did anyone ignore the Sox after they got him while they chased the division?
  6. Because this set of morals is fickle and applied mostly arbitrarily. Hating on the guys who got caught while signing the praises of those who didn't just doesn't make any sense. Does nobody have serious suspicions about Konerko? I love the guy, loved what he did and enjoyed the send off he got, but if there ever was a roider on the Sox in the past 15 years he'd be it. The symptoms are all there (the body breaking down all at once, late career surge). Since its the White Sox he never got the national magnifying glass the Ortiz does, but come on... you cannot just pretend everyone who's done roids got caught and hate those guys while ignoring the rest.
  7. It's not personal, take a deep breath. Everything that was glaringly wrong with the 2014 team has been adequately (in some cases more than adequately) filled in one offseason and the Sox still have Montas, Danish and Anderson in the minors. That's a feat. To then say you struggle to support the entire team because they signed one guy it's just... a dumb thing to say. A dumb thing to subscribe to. Unless you wanted to just see everyone develop and keep Semien, Bassitt and the payroll flexibility to make a run in 2016, then I'd at least understand it. But if you liked the Shark trade and all the other moves that built the Sox into an overnight contender you have to be able to see the forest through the trees and get what the Sox are doing. Just be a fan and enjoy it as a whole instead of picking the parts you don't like then using that as jusjustification to hate on the whole thing.
  8. I'd rather have Bonifacio on a 1 year deal. Sanchez can defend and gets enough base hits to not be a black hole. On the other hand, Gillaspie bats 6th and can't hit lefties. And our 4th OF is incapable of playing defense. Bonifacio solves what it would take two other players to solve. If the money isn't there then so be it.
  9. If you cannot find it in yourself to support this team with the guys they already had and the commitments they made to try and win you're just being a petulant little whiner. I'm not a big fan of Melky Cabrera but whatever, it's one move out of the 6 major moves they've made this offseason. He's better than Viciedo, I'm at least pretty sure of that. The idea that anyone could struggle to support the 2015 White Sox is stupid. Anyone who agrees is similarly stupid. You don't even have to expect them to win, but not supporting the haste under which the Sox have been rebuilt is pretty indefensible.
  10. I'd take Cespedes before Melky Cabrera. But Viciedo was in a near toe with nothing for the Twins, that tie has been broken.
  11. Fyi- Cooper doesn't really work with minor league guys. He says this in interviews repeatedly.
  12. I've always maintained the deep down, when both teams are good, Chicago is a baseball town at heart. There's something about the intracity rivalry and the 'come out to play' dynamic when the weather improves. Especially now with the Bears being a dumpster fire.
  13. I'll give Hahn credit for this... he filled every major MLB hole the Sox had with at least a starting caliber guy (in the case of Robertson and Samardzija he went above and beyond) and put us in at least the discussion in the AL. At the same time the farm system has been kept very well in tact and looks to continue its improvement. The Sox got this much better at the big league level and still kept Montas, Anderson and Danish. We aren't totally screwed financially either, neither the Robertson nor Cabrera deals break the bank.
  14. /shudder Just give me Rodon and pray he doesn't murder his arm.
  15. Judging by Rick Hahn's sleep schedule I'd say he's a college sophomore resigned to his fate of flunking out of school.
  16. The question now is: Danks or Viciedo?
  17. The 4th OF has to be able to run and defend. I get where you're coming from and you're not wrong, but Viciedo just doesn't profile as a guy you can enter the game in multiple secnarios.
  18. I don't know if they'd made the Sox a desirable place to sign as much as they've lit a fire under the front office's ass.
  19. He was a train wreck in 13. I don't have a problem with him getting caught, I have a problem with how getting caught has affected him as a player. Look, I gotta accept it and root for the guy starting now. The way it is, I'm along for the ride. #teammelky.
  20. Quintana is good. Melky is is probably not anymore.
  21. They just got their LF, who are they going to trade Quintana for? Unless they want to mammothly upgrade C or 2B the roster is mostly set. Now they're gonna make the monies work.
  22. I'm not excited at all about this, but I gotta buck up and accept it.
  23. Eventually they are going to develop the crap out of the old PO, maybe the White Sox somehow get on board with a plan to turn it into some mixed entertainment venue (think Navy Pier). Other than that? Forget about it. You should really forget about seeing the Old PO or some of those large empty fields in the South Loop developed for a while.
